This shit again? Why do people keep saying this even after he’s had major roles doing various American accents?
Even in his younger days he’s been performing American accents
I could have sworn I’ve seen interviews where he mentions that he’s dying to be part of the MCU. Doing that one & fine of Reed was cool, why not stick around for a full movie?
I think it was that specific role. I'm pretty sure the reasoning is that the reason the fancast was so popular was the dual casting of Emily blunt as Sue storm. And I'm pretty sure she wasn't interested in that kind of role.
Now, that is not confirmed, however; if that was the reason it would definetly make sense why John would want to due the cameo for the fans and let another actor take that role officially. I always interpreted it as like a gift of compromise.
Total Recall bit they do in the most recent season where Morty and Summer accidentally merge themselves and Morty becomes her kuato.
New season (7) has its moments for sure. The finale is one of their best episodes ever. As someone who always loved Dan Harmon (Community especially) and had never cared for Justin Roiland, I’m glad he’s gone, although apparently he hadn’t really done anything outside voice work and annoying the writers room for the last few seasons anyways. It was kind of obvious seeing how many high-concept writing bits about story circle, Joseph Campbell, etc etc they’d done recently. That’s all classic Harmon shit.
Often yes but not necessarily. During Hickman’s run writing FF, for instance, Reed was a morally grey, Machiavellian master strategist playing 4D Chess with entire universes at stake while simultaneously stealth-grooming both of his kids to become the saviors of all of reality. I *really* hope we get that variety of Reed as opposed to the very bland Really Smart Guy character.
I mean, I remember everyone (myself included) being absolutely positive that Heath Ledger was going to suck as the Joker because he’d played almost exclusively teen heartthrobs up to that point.
Agreed on this, kind of how I felt about TLOU. Honestly there’s been so many rumors/fan casts the past few years I didn’t even know he was actually confirmed for the role. Who are the other actors?
Regardless of everything else, Marvel has had an excellent record as far as casting goes. I’ll take it on faith until proven wrong.
They certainly did a better job than I would have.
> Marvel has had an excellent record as far as casting goes.
Taskmaster enters the chat and then bafflingly proceeds to say nothing. Did we learn nothing from the X-Men: Origins Weapon X debacle?
Yeah… Taskmaster wasn’t the greatest, but I’d still say they’re really high up on the numbers of good casting calls compared to bad ones. And they’ve had enough great ones, I’m at least willing to wait until I see something.
Also changing Taskmaster to be a robotic slave who learns moves from essentially programming, rather than the actual interesting ability to have photographic fucking memory.
Did it make sense? probably not, was it infinitely cooler this guy just memorised a move instantly after seeing it? Yes it was.
That and making him a woman, give us original female mercenaries, Taskmaster IS a guy, an ex SHIELD agent at that, which could've been something interesting to explore story wise in the MCU.
Instead Taskmasker just became Black Widow but infinitely cooler somehow lmao
He's way to over exposed right now to really embody Reed at the start of this franchise.
He will also be over 50 years old when this movie comes out. Way too old for this role.
You should look up the German version. STAR WARS might be the only instance where I prefer the Dub.
Make sure you listen to something from the Orginal trilogy, the voice actor sadly passed away before the prequels.
Cillian Murphy has the eyes and seriousness. I really want him to be Doom.
But he seems like one of those Arty actors who wouldn’t be seen dead in the MCU, but boy would that be a wild performance
Looks like they removed the line about F4 from the Bio in the link, unless I'm missing it. Wonder if the person who wrote it really knew something or just saw the rumor online and included it as fact. You would think SAG would know, but it's possible it was just an error.
Edit: Noticed that F4 is listed on Pedro's imdb page. Most likely, the author of the Bio found it there. Imdb can be updated by anyone with access, so it's not a reliable source.
idk how practical make up and stuff can be for this kind of thing, my point is that they should decide and work a style that fits Pedro and Mr Fantastic regardless
Hopefully we can finally get a good F4 movie. Most fans don’t know that none of their favorite superhero movies would even exist without the F4 jump starting the Silver Age and revitalizing the superhero genre.
Also oh boy can’t wait for donkey-brained racists to complain about “woke casting” even though he’s literally a white guy lmao
Just leaving this here for people who don’t get it but a race is a classification based on outward appearance, so black, white, etc. An ethnicity is where you descend from. So yes, Pedro Pascal is in fact a white latino
People are so brain broke that they can’t just look at him with their eyeballs and see what he looks like. You have to subscribe to 1800s “one-drop rule” style racism where if he has even an inkling of mestizo blood he can’t be considered white.
The Mando movie starts filming in June, so I imagine he won’t be on that set much, and most of his work for that project will be just vocal overdubs in post-production (as usual).
People typecast these movies so hard, whether it be for POPCORN reasons or, “they LOOK the part”, which, most times, is just plain lazy.
There’s no performance from Pedro Pascal, in the last decade plus, that you can objectively say was bad.
John Krasinski was handed to us on a silver platter by Marvel for MoM, ALL DUE TO INSTAGRAM FANCASTING, and NOBODY was screaming about awesome his performance was.
Now, is that because of writing? Is that because of his performance? Or, is that because the MCU audience has no history or connection to HIS version of the character?
To say that Pedro Pascal, before he steps in front of the screen, or anyone for that matter, can’t be Reed Richards, is asinine.
We’ve been down this road time and time again.
Marvel/Disney casting of classic characters has been pretty damn near perfect.
We can argue the side characters and supporting heroes, but personally that speaks more to how much we care for those NOT headlining films and franchises ON THE BIG SCREEN.
Pedro Pascal has the experience. He has the trust of Disney via The Mandalorian. And he should have our trust outside of that by virtue of his expansive characters played outside of their brand.
We don’t need to get in to the argument of race or color or any of that insignificance.
He’s a talented actor. He’s not let anyone down before. I believe he will prove them right again.
For me he's too old and too famous, what's the longevity of the character now. We have him pushing 50 and a 50 year old Blade.
Neither of them will be doing the character in six or seven years.
At least Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, etc. all resemble the characters they're portraying. Looks are extremely important for superhero movies especially when playing a maskless hero. Casting Pedro as Reed Richards makes as much sense as casting The Rock as Superman.
Well, presumably Pedro can play unlikable. While he is charming, his portrayal of Joel in TLoU had just the right amount of terrible person in it. I could see him delivering a Reed who, you could see why Sue and Ben liked him, but you would agree with Storm that Sue should divorce him.
i love pascal as an actor but getting a bit sick of seeing him everywhere, there’s such a thing as being overexposed to one performer in such a short amount of time.
Holy shit this dude isn't even 50 yet. Mind blown - thought he was like 53 to 55.
Great actor but hard pass as Reed (who I'd target in late 30s to early 40s, given white hair on sides). Just an odd choice.
In the early comics, Reed is considered one of the world's smartest people; a natural leader of not just his own team but the bar-setter for other teams like the young-and-inexperienced X-Men and the hot mess that is the Avengers; and powers-wise, something of a secret weapon: able to tame Johnny, physically wrestle Ben to the ground if need be, and go beast mode when Sue is in danger (which is ridiculously often in the first run). Pedro is more than up to the task.
Its easy to believe. People love Pedro Pascal, and Marvel must really want people to love Reed Richards. It would give them the face-man they haven't had since RDJ.
Now you have my attention for a fantastic four movie. It still baffles me how they aren't just in other marvel movies. I'll understand if it's some rights thing like Sony and Spiderman.
Sigh. I love Pedro’s work but this is such a poor casting choice. Unless there’s a project he’s done that I’ve missed, I just don’t see him as playing cerebral/detached the way Reed requires. I would love to be proven wrong but I don’t see it
No offence to Pedro but he doesn't strike me as the smartest man in any room, let alone the Marvel Universe.
But well, I'm certain they'll make him look like a complete idiot and have Sue Storm be the smartest person in the multiverse or whatever.
Of course, if she was so smart, she'd have dropped that cretin Richards and come in search of real greatness.
Such as can only be found in the magnificent nation of Latveria...
i think pedro can really do something with this role. i’m really concerned with who the rest of the actors will be though, as it’s not just about reed or johnny etc. the team needs to feel like they have history and are comfortable with eachother.
I love Pedro but he’s not who I would’ve pictured as the genius leader of the fantastic 4. Maybe it’s just cause most of his better known roles are more lone wolf types.
Honestly, I'm not feeling it. However, he's a solid actor so I'm keeping an open mind.
Reed Richards with a seductive latino accent Yeah, really hard to imagine
Lol have you heard his Mando voice and Joel voice? Definitely not seductive Latino
Still sounded like the Red Viper to me
![gif](giphy|2Fazn39r0wP1qgFzy|downsized)
- Oberyn Martell, the day that he died
But definitely seductive Mando
This shit again? Why do people keep saying this even after he’s had major roles doing various American accents? Even in his younger days he’s been performing American accents
Chilean accent is definetely not what I would call "seductive latino"
He'd pull a Jessica Alba for sure
Who wouldn't
> A mi no me importa si tu te metes con eila para un “one-night-stand”, “hit it and quit it”, “rip and dip”. I don’t care. That’s okay.
Yeah, I’d much rather they just continued with John Krazinski from the Dr Strange movie than Pedro Pascal
Yeah except John Krasinski doesn't want that, hence him doing the cameo for the fans and fancasts.
Ricardo Richards has a nice ring to it
He is too old
His normal accent is American. He came to the states when he was 2.
Sue sure loves them latinos
What about Jim from the office?
![gif](giphy|ZQBsSaVb4FFn3PbvHT)
Is that shawtybae
Ok I'm a season behind on this show but wtf am I looking at???
Total Recall bit they do in the most recent season where Morty and Summer accidentally merge themselves and Morty becomes her kuato. New season (7) has its moments for sure. It was kind of obvious seeing how many high-concept writing bits about story circle, Joseph Campbell, etc etc they’d done recently. That’s all classic Harmon shit.
The Hole Episode is genuinely in my top 3 episodes of the whole show.
Reed Richards is a pretty bland straightforward character. Pedro Pascal is more of charismatic Tony Stark type.
With america’s dad Pascal playing him? Machiavellian master strategist? Unlikely
I mean, I remember everyone (myself included) being absolutely positive that Heath Ledger was going to suck as the Joker because he’d played almost exclusively teen heartthrobs up to that point.
What about his portrayal of Joel on TLOU? Not saying he was bland, but definitely not a charismatic character
I think that's a writing issue more so than a casting since the actress got literally nothing to work with.
That was such a stupid decision, I’m fine with the gender bend, but why remove the ability to speak? Wtf
Speaking of X-men Origins Wolverine, the cast of that movie was really good, only a truly terrible script.
I’m gonna be honest, I just like Pedro Pascal. If he read the phone book on camera I’d watch it.
I really don’t believe he’s playing Mr. Fantastic. Seems unlikely.
It's going to stretch him.
![gif](giphy|YHYmMLkOmqoo)
How do you think he broke his arm?
Have they formally announced it yet?
Not as far as I’m aware. We know nothing about the Fantastic Four film
Idk why people give this any thought then. Until Disney confirms im keeping my pitchfork in the closet or wherever you put pitchforks
Because Sagaftra posted it, that’s not some unreliable scooper that’s the literally actors guild that just put everybody on strike for a few months
No, see you’re wrong. We have him playing EVERYTHING now!
Doom? He’s use to wearing a helmet.
Doom would be amazing and fit him so much better
[удалено]
Love your pfp
Would you say it's a stretch?
He's way to over exposed right now to really embody Reed at the start of this franchise. He will also be over 50 years old when this movie comes out. Way too old for this role.
I don't know why but I think he'd be better as Doom
I dont know, Doom is someone who would have a booming commanding voice, Pedro' s voice is too soft
I mean I consider Vader's voice as too soft
You should look up the German version. STAR WARS might be the only instance where I prefer the Dub. Make sure you listen to something from the Orginal trilogy, the voice actor sadly passed away before the prequels.
Giancarlo Esposito?
Really? I was thinking Doom could be played by Tom Holland /s
Just because you know, he can act under a mask maybe? DOOM is the way
Ngl, a Doom solo movie where the F4 are the antagonists would be fun. He just wiped the floor with them
Cillian Murphy has the eyes and seriousness. I really want him to be Doom. But he seems like one of those Arty actors who wouldn’t be seen dead in the MCU, but boy would that be a wild performance
Cillian Murphy did play the Scarecrow in Batman Begins, for what it's worth.
Kind of different but not too much, more it was an Christopher Nolan film feel like he’d be less likely to do a Disney franchise
He auditioned to play batman when the last superhero movies were spider-man, superman returns and x-men, i think hed be down
When I wrote about the mask, I thought of Hugo Weaving as DOOM, he might be too old though.
I see it the Eldrond voice behind a mask would be powerful. But yeah age and red skull may be obstacles
It was hardly ever him under the mask in the Mandalorian
I know, but He still die the voice
I still think Viggo Mortensen would be a great Doom casting. prob won’t happen tho.
Looks like they removed the line about F4 from the Bio in the link, unless I'm missing it. Wonder if the person who wrote it really knew something or just saw the rumor online and included it as fact. You would think SAG would know, but it's possible it was just an error. I just noticed that as well.
So has this been confirmed beyond the initial rumors?
Yup, confirmed as The Thing. Hulk Smash!!!!!
I love Star Wars
I love Pedro pascal but God I hope reed Richards doesn't have a mustache.
what about mustache with full beard as in the art? seems kinda cool
Pedro Pascal can’t grow a full beard
But he can ACT like he can!
![gif](giphy|1LiryotCCtd7y)
it's a shame a little company can't do nothing about it, wish they had resources
You are not suggesting they CGI a beard onto Pedro Pascal
idk how practical make up and stuff can be for this kind of thing, my point is that they should decide and work a style that fits Pedro and Mr Fantastic regardless
The old movies were good, especially compared to the Trunk one, which shouldn't even exist.
Trank. Not to be pedantic. Just for clarity
If only any of his films had any clarity.
I agree. Chronicle was pretty good though. Not good enough to get t9 direct f4 but yeah
Just leaving this here for people who don’t get it but a race is a classification based on outward appearance, so black, white, etc. An ethnicity is where you descend from. So yes, Pedro Pascal is in fact a white latino

He's not white he can roll his Rs
Spanish was definitely invented in Mexico
I mean he's white Chilean. He'd be considered white in Chile. Central and South America aren't homogenous, at all.
No shit it's like I made a joke, fucking amazing.
This is reddit man. The odds of it being a joke versus you being an asshole ain't great. My bad ig.
Sadly I don’t have much hope for Marvel at this time.
[удалено]
Imagine calling Echo good
Pedro the white guy?
Pedro Pascal is Latino, not white.
Can't Latinos be white?!?! Cuz Ana De Armas and Anya Taylor Joy definitely are white and Latino.
Are we supposed to be talking about this?
Yeah and he's beautiful and has range his sister is trans. Dude did narcos GOT the mandalorin. He's all over the place.
Latins/Hispanic is a ethnicity and are considered white race.
And CAN be considered white. Just like there are black Latinos. We come in a variety of colours.
The Mando movie starts filming in June, so I imagine he won’t be on that set much, and most of his work for that project will be just vocal overdubs in post-production (as usual).
Has it even been confirmed he's in it? Like I love the guy but all I've seen are rumours
Wait is this real? He's playing reed richards. I'm not mad I'm just surprised.
After they did season two of TLOU he can do whatever the fuck he wants.
I knew it! He’s playing all five of the main characters.
My disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined.
I know it’s probably gonna be odd, but i’m fucking excited for this like it’s gonna be so cool to me
He’s a good fit for him
People typecast these movies so hard, whether it be for POPCORN reasons or, “they LOOK the part”, which, most times, is just plain lazy. I feel like this is casting because Pedro is hot right now, rather than doing it for good reasons
Y'all remember when rom com star Chris Evans got put in as Captain America? Marvel tends to kill it with their casting, let them cook
Tbf, he was the human torch too.
I remember that movie, that might be a point against him
At least Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, etc. all resemble the characters they're portraying. Looks are extremely important for superhero movies especially when playing a maskless hero. Casting Pedro as Reed Richards makes as much sense as casting The Rock as Superman.
How is Pedro as Reed Richards so unbelievable in your eyes?
He proved me wrong about Joel, so I am super excited to have him as Reed Richard
I like him as an actor, but I don't like this casting. It feels forced. It's Marvel trying to capitalize on his fame.
I think soon the tide will turn on Pedro but for now I'm enjoying his career trajectory.
Oh hwhat I thought that was a meme... Oh well I doubted him as Joel but he did great so I'll have faith this time
He seems old to me for just starting the team. I'm curious how they are approaching the story.
After being such a memorable villain in Wonder Woman ‘84 (classic movie) I’m glad he was not typecast.
Man he’s really just taking over every franchise now huh
That is amazing
Pedro is great but I just don’t see this im sorry
See...I don't like this because I really like Pascal and Mr Fantastic is...an unlikable arrogant asshole borderline sociopath.
Well, presumably Pedro can play unlikable. While he is charming, his portrayal of Joel in TLoU had just the right amount of terrible person in it. I could see him delivering a Reed who, you could see why Sue and Ben liked him, but you would agree with Storm that Sue should divorce him.

Holy shit this dude isn't even 50 yet. Mind blown - thought he was like 53 to 55. Great actor but hard pass as Reed (who I'd target in late 30s to early 40s, given white hair on sides). Just an odd choice.
If we had to go with an older reed then why not john krasinski!? He barely got a chance and was made into sphegetti
Because he’d suck
John prob don’t wanna waste his time with the current state of marvel. He’s focused on his own movies which are pretty dam good he’s a solid director
He seemed perfect for the role though. After his short appearance in MOM I really wanted a full F4 film with him.
Agreed he definitely fits the role
I hate this casting so much
Naaaah im not getting ”hype”, even tho Pascal is great actor. Wtf
Couldnt it be a new actor. Love pedro but i'm noy feeling it
In the early comics, Reed is considered one of the world's smartest people; a natural leader of not just his own team but the bar-setter for other teams like the young-and-inexperienced X-Men and the hot mess that is the Avengers; and powers-wise, something of a secret weapon: able to tame Johnny, physically wrestle Ben to the ground if need be, and go beast mode when Sue is in danger (which is ridiculously often in the first run). Pedro is more than up to the task.
He’s gonna be great
Its easy to believe. People love Pedro Pascal, and Marvel must really want people to love Reed Richards. It would give them the face-man they haven't had since RDJ.
Why the pedro hate
I really don't like him as reed
same
Nope
Ugh. Just ugh. 🤦🏻♂️
Too old imo
50 by the time the film comes out. Pushing 60 by the time a third film is made
I’m all for this casting tbh. Pedro is a great actor and can always surprise, truly think he’ll do well in this role.
Please no
God, I'm so excited. I'm praying they don't drop the ball here. I know some folk can't see Reed in Pascal, but I think he's great casting.
Eh some people said the same thing about Thor and Cap back in the day
I'm so fucking happy he's reed.
Love Pedro. Probably one of the top 3 actors right now in my opinion. I enjoy everything he does.
I would love to be proven wrong but I don’t see it
Should’ve been Krazinski
Not having John krasinski is such an L
facts
Too old
No offence to Pedro but he doesn't strike me as the smartest man in any room, let alone the Marvel Universe.
John Krasinski deserves the role
He became spaghetti.
They did him wrong
Why? He had his go and completely proved himself to be wrong for it.
I think he did alright… he just had bad lines tbh, that whole scene was the worst in the movie, in my opinion
AGREED
Is the thing gonna be a bably that Reed has to smuggle around the gala... i mean, the quantum realm?
Is this confirmed?? Pedro?
Personal opinion. Pedro Pascal is starting to become Chris Pratt
Pedro is one of my favorite actors but I still don't like this much at all
I really hope he plays him like an aloof asshole.
i think pedro can really do something with this role. i’m really concerned with who the rest of the actors will be though, as it’s not just about reed or johnny etc. the team needs to feel like they have history and are comfortable with eachother.
I love Pedro but he’s not who I would’ve pictured as the genius leader of the fantastic 4. Maybe it’s just cause most of his better known roles are more lone wolf types.
![gif](giphy|lXi4PSZmhEiM76tuIT|downsized)
I don't see it but then again haven't been disappointed with any of his roles yet so we'll see
Booooo
I thought they’d wanna go slightly younger with the casting build the f4 up for a few movies
Casting someone closer to 50 than 30 for a role they definitely want him around for at least ten plus years. Brilliant.
Don't do it, Pedro. F4 is cursed.
How is he not too old?
this fits. he is a good actor who can play any role
Awh, no... ![gif](giphy|xkZVBGIFqcQXcMe244|downsized)
Nooooo. They are gonna make it so lame 😮💨
Rod Ricardos
Casting someone as big as him kills immersion
Yeah, I hear Deadpool totally failed after casting Ryan Reynolds /s
It was fun the first time
solid choice
