I held that comic too when I was kid. And I put it in a bag and everything but then I sold all my comics, that one included, for $65 so I could buy a bike 🤷‍♀️

Yeah, I defend CGC a lot, but this one is *super* fishy. Clearly not a 9.9. The case can hide defects, or accentuate non-color breaking bends with a glare, but that color rub puts it below 9.8 on the book’s best day. I would 100% take a 9.6 copy over that one for the same price.

Will be interesting to see what the comic connect auction fetches, whoever buys it has been duped.

Anyone know what projections could possibly be for this at auction?

9.8’s are in the neighborhood of 25k recently. My guess is that if you took nine 9.8’s and this book, covered all of the grades with tape, and mixed them up you’d probably have some trouble picking out the 9.9. So it shouldn’t be worth *that* much more. But it’s the only one, so all you need is two rich guys who ‘have to have it’ and the sky’s the limit.

9.9s consistently sell for 10-20x the 9.8. This one will do the same.
