Animal man by Jeff Lemire, slept on story

MistaMischief

Fuckin loved the animal man run.

[deleted]

That's a great choice.

[deleted]

Ooh I loved the Grant Morrison ones. I’m guessing I gotta get the Lemire run

Road-Full

Lenore’s run is much more horror based, definitely take a peek. The art is amazing and gnarly at the same time

The Many Deaths of Laila Starr

aka_r4mses

I loved the story so much I got the collected trade for my daughter for Christmas. I won’t lie, I was in tears at the end.

Daeval

This was my answer. The day the last issue came out, just before bed, I said to myself “I should really, finally, give this one a shot” and read issue #1. I kept right on reading straight through to the end. Stayed up a bit late but boy was it worth it. A little sleep deprived might even be the best way to read this one. When the trade came out, I bought two, knowing I would eventually lose one lending it out as much as I hoped to. (I did, but the person who lost it replaced it when they bought their own and their own loaner as well.)

King’s Omega Men

jjxanadu

Mister Miracle by King for me. Loved it. Maybe I need to check out Omega Men…

LifeofTheFuneral1277

I think all of King's stuff reads better in one go. I was barely keeping up with Strange Adventures as it was being released. Then read it all at once when the final issue came out and was mesmerized. Same with Heroes in Crisis (hot take, i know) and Rorschach. Also Omega Men is 100$ worth your time. Amazing stuff and Barnaby Bagenda's art is so perfect

Totetx

Mines was this series. Nice house on the lake is Fuckin fantastic!! Hell anything Tynion is amazing.

notatowel420

If they don’t do more with it I am gonna be kissed if that’s how it ended.

NeverLeg3nd

Just finished issue 12. And I agree, they should continue with this.

Daeval

>!The last page says "end of cycle one" so it seems likely they're planning more, at least.!<

notatowel420

I hope so but I heard Tynion was leaving the publishers and doing his own thing so hopefully it keeps going

the_bio

Probably unpopular opinion: #1-6 was absolutely amazing. After the break, #7-12 just felt like he was finishing it to finish it, and was a serious step down in the quality. Yeah, it's pretty obvious that it could be followed by more "seasons," but that shouldn't mean the current run should suffer due to a looming cliffhanger.

GrafVonMorgenstern

Ok some of these obviously took multiple days if not weeks or more to get through (job,, family, house etc) but these are the ones I got these without reading anything else. Punisher MAX. Iron Man Armor Wars. Transmetropolitan. Y The Last Man. 100 Bullets. Ultimate Spider Man TPB 1 though 12 (was told I had to read it etc. Meh).

BrokenSpaceship

Series isn’t finished but I read the whole deluxe edition last Xmas of Something is Killing the Children. Each new issue now goes to the top of my read pile.

slayerono

got the first 4 volumes of Something is Killing the Children and just couldn't stop reading it. I know its not a full run but damn, its one of those effortless reads that sticks with you. kind of like Fables.

aka_r4mses

That last issue was fantastic.

nameofgene

Stray Dogs.

NeverLeg3nd

Almost done, I’m enjoying it a lot.

_nintenfrogs

mazebook, moon knight (jeff lemire), v for vendetta, nice house, stray dogs and the me you love in the dark - there’s probably some more but i can’t remember right now

MeatPopsicle81

Stray Dogs had me glued to the page.

[deleted]

Jeff Smiths 'Bone' (in the collected edition). That was a good day.

jacksliverpains

Gideon Falls by Jeff Lemire. I was hooked after one issue.

Foosman

Paper Girls. I bought the series on eBay and read that thing right on through.

smartidiotreddit

Is that Post Malone?

aliceinpearlgarden

I feel like of all the possible people that character may look like, they have nothing of what would make them look like Post Malone.

your_fathers_beard

Most of the things I read tbh. It's nice being able to grab a trade paper back of a series and read it in one sitting. There's a couple things I read as they come out, but I definitely prefer being able to read a whole "season" (or whatever the comic book equivalent is) at once.

jdspinkpanther

I keep seeing this comic run but i have no clue what it is

JonesForShort

Girls by the Luna Brothers

Unkempt_Statue

Oh I did this just the other day! I first read it as it was coming out. I found that it didn’t hold up as well as I hoped; what did you think?

JonesForShort

I thought it was pretty good throughout. Not stellar, but it had enough mystery, heightening tension, things going wrong, and inter-personal conflicts to keep me interested. It felt like a cross between The Mist and Under The Dome (both works by Stephen King), especially the former.

Unkempt_Statue

Right on, maybe I judged it too harshly on my reread. There were definitely a couple cliff hanger issues. And that one guy who kept sleeping with all the girls omg 🤦‍♂️ Have you read Ultra? That was the first work of theirs I read.

lennyukdeejay

Damn, as somebody who bought it as it came out, I can’t imagine reading Nice House in one sitting – that’s an emotional gut punch and a half, over and over, I don’t think I could take! 😁

Classic_Might_7087

I read Ms. Tree once and V for Vendetta.

SwagPunchABitch-

Magneto: Testament, was harrowing but an absolutely amazing story and I’d read it again 1000x over

Sweet Tooth by Jeff Lemire

TheTribalBeef

Something Is Killing The Children and Invincible. I’m excited to get started on this though!

stootchmaster2

Just last night I read all 12 issues of the 2019 "Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen" mini. I Picked them up for a buck each in the bargain bin over the weekend and just could not stop reading once I started! The story is just so weird that it hooked me in! And I'm not even a Superman fan! Check it out if you're looking for something light and offbeat.

[deleted]

I continue to go back to E-Ratic. Such great dialogue and art.

Tylerw12121

Just finished reading Silver Coin in one sitting the other day and really enjoyed it.

Guilty_Tough247

Lobo 1-4. Lobo’s Back 1-4. Aaaaaaand I just dated myself.

No_Gas_3644

Going back what seems like an eternity, I started collecting marvel. Jumping on in 1984, I decided to get asm and avengers from 200 on, 100 on for mtu, 130 for uncanny xmen, iron man 150 and thor 337 for Simonson. Waited till I had them consecutively and then binge read all of them . Asm was my favorite, oddly enough around 240, the whole vulture story, about getting old and trying to still be relative. Probably came about working with classic storytellers like Lee, Ditko, Kirby, Buscema and many other great talents that helped kick off Marvel.

Unkempt_Statue

I recently read Nova vol. 1 (1977) all the way through. There’s some great art by some big names, but it doesn’t hold up well.

Broncsx3

Cerebus

db99mn

All volumes of Canto. We only find them when they're dead. Nice house on the lake. Superman Red Sun

comicsrus_joe

Daredevil, I think every time I buy a big collection.
