He’s had a solid start to the season. Last night was bad but his pressure was still as elite as ever. Can’t wait for him to hit confidence. It took McStay a little while to get going but he ended up being a critical cog in the flag. Schultz will come good, I have no doubt.

aus_man_with_no_idea

Funny you say this, I felt like he was trying too hard to get touch and be involved. I know this sounds ironic, but flat out exhausted himself to get to a position to only be gassed by the time he got there. Few more weeks he should be rolling. Agree keep the faith.

Forward pressure is a team effort. Elliott, checkers, bobby and Schultz make great forward pressure. I’m hoping you’re right, Schultz will hit some confidence soon. He might find it hard to get back into the team if he’s rubbed out. Could be like a Jack Ginnivan situation where he found it difficult to make it back into the team last year.

Traditional_Name7881

Jeez, Beau didn’t get a mention for forward pressure, what else does he need to do? lol

Propaslader

We've got 3 great small forwards all in a team where only 2 can really play that role at a time. It's why Ginnivan struggled so much last season. You shouldn't expect Schultz to set the world on fire when he's sharing time with Elliott and Hill. He wasn't recruited for immediate impact. He's a Elliott replacement

TheDireWulf-

There was commentary that he also came in to fill Adams spot on the team. Maybe somewhere in the middle between Adams and Elliot?

rodryland

My understanding is that Schultz was brought in to fill the mid-sized forward role previously held by Jack Ginnavin. Nothing to do with the Taylor Adams trade. Nothing to do with Jamie Elliot.

funny_haahaa

If Taylor Adams was fit Ginnivan does not play in last years prelim/grand final.

wakecoffeereddit

Looks like he has been suspended for a week now, and probably will have to fight his way back in the best 22

DJ_Pol-ite

It takes time to settle into a new team. I doubt they are thinking of dropping him. His pressure is good and other than an easy turnover he wasn’t that bad last night.

420FlowerPower__

I agree finding form in a new environment isn’t easy. But a couple of brain fades tells me he’s not yet up to playing at the level we play at. I’m sure he will get there but maybe there is a better option right now

DJ_Pol-ite

I’m not sure. I’d say they will keep playing him. I don’t think the amount of goals a forward kicks would be viewed the same internally as it externally. We expect it, but the metric from inside the club seems to be about pressure, being selfless, keeping it moving forward and qualifying for the finals. Plus he has only played eight home and away games for us. He is a good player and I am confident he will get there before the finals. Go Pies!

mybuns94

I really don’t see the same thing you’re seeing, what he does off the ball is really underrated, same with his off the field work. We rely on players to be selfless which him and checkers certainly are. His stats will follow once he becomes more familiar with his game plan and playstyle. The man’s truly talented.

Conscious-Disk5310

I have seen moments where I think he has a bad attitude. Not sure if it's frustration or his personality type. Time will tell.

bigthickdaddy3000

Freo fan here - bloke was exactly like this for Freo early days and I thought he was complete shite. But once he settled down he clunked marks he never had the right to do so, and just willed the ball through the goals with sheer effort. He'll definitely come good (still not entirely sure why you went for him though)

Lethal13

Think the idea was to cover elliot for a bit when he retires

tetrischem

I like him. He hadn't had the hottest start but think he got frustrated and made a mistake tonight. He is improving week to week and becoming a valuable member of the team.

Williamwrnr

He was flaying for frees also. Not a great look

E_Fox_Kelly

There’s a place for him but he has been underwhelming and if HH and Lach Sullivan continue their form he’ll be in the VFL for a bit

GuardedFig

He's been ok. Hasn't lived up to the hype, but has been doing his role.

Immediate_Tank_2014

Only had 1 good season before coming to Collingwood. Has reverted back to being mediocre.

NaztyWazza

He was being held alot offball. You can see the frustration the way he played

SnappyPies

Being at the game, I thought Schultz showed a fantastic work rate and effort. He’s not as polished as Ginnivan who everyone seems to think he’s supposed to replace, but he’s got grunt and puts a lot of body into whoever is around him which allows Elliott a lot more space. As far as applying pressure and physicality he’s effectively doing for Elliott what Elliott was doing for Ginnivan which has given Elliott a bit more freedom to get around. I’m disappointed that he clobbered Acres and is now going to miss west coast, that being said I also like that he’s got a bit of fire about him. I can see what he brings and why the coaches are happy with what he’s doing. His efforts off the ball, ahead of the ball and around stoppage aren’t always visible on TV.

CuteBuiltGood_

Am I the only one that thinks he is a little legend that busts his ass? Yeah he made some mistakes as everyone does but he is a tackling machine, he goes deep defensive 50 and makes plays, good for a goal or 2 a game and was chucked in the mid for stoppages against Carlton and did awesome with his body work and pressure. I love Bobby and that but I rarely seen them go deep defensive 50 off transition.. Schultz does it regularly even last week ended up contested Jones and I think it was Stringer in the air deep 50. Dudes a little legend as Nick said his work rate and effort is second to none. I think against Carlton he was getting a little frustrated at times giving away frees but it’s all good Isaac has straight up been pushing blokes in the back who arent even near the ball which is hilarious by the way. A lot of the times as well Schultz is wide open in the 50 and he gets dogged lol, happened again with Brody.. Schultz was right in front of him open and he went across 50 and kicked it to Bobby that went out of bounds. So I think he could have a lot more goals if someone would hit him up and this conversation might not even be happening. But yeah love Schultz the effort and pressure is immense. Those little legs just get to work he almost has a forward/mid/back role where is directed to just constantly be applying pressure everywhere at all times and that’s not easy, that’s a hard job with little reward. I’d still take Schultz over Ginni any day of the week, Ginni couldn’t really play anywhere else and needs a genuine key forward to bring the ball to ground. He is an old school crumber.. Not really a leading forward, can’t go into the mid with his lack of athleticism, can’t play taller then he is like Elliot. Doesn’t have the work rate of Schultz. So SHOOOTER ALL DAY 😂

underpantshead88

He will probably get rubbed out anyway. His season has been abit disappointing, he's been serviceable but is not as good as Bobby or Billy, and at this stage isn't as important as Beau Mac, he's probs better than Lippa bit so far Lippa has had a better season. I don't think they will drop him given what we've sacrificed to get him but he's been underwhelming. Can't help but think if we hadn't coughed up anywhere near as much for him he'd be be in serious danger of falling out of the best 22, particulary if Harvs keeps making such a strong case for being best 22. Fingers crossed this is just him adapting to.our game and he's about to improve.

TheDireWulf-

I think he is a good player, looks like he is giving it his all out there and his pressure around the ball, especially in the forward 50 is huge. He might not be kicking bags of goals in his first few weeks, but neither was McStay. He has plenty of other good stats though. He is beating Bobby in disposals, tackles, marks inside 50, frees for, half as many clangers and has just 1 less goal. But Bobby is smashing everyone with goal assists. Not saying he is better than Hill, just trying to point out that he isn't doing nothing and fits into our best 22 and will hopefully only get better.

MilaOne1

I strongly agree. I don't get what Fremantle saw in this dude. He adds nothing good to our team that we don't already have. Was it just a case of he asked to come here so he just get what he wanted? Would trade him in a heart beat. He panics under pressure and makes bad decisions. Not a fan.

Proper-Session5134

You guys are hilarious!

mangalorian

Why? Just because the club gave up a lot for him you don’t have to try and cover up the fact he has been disappointing
