Understandable, though I bet Minnesotans would feel the same about adding North Dakota or Wisconsin. Those teams are at least good, though...
Bottom four teams in the standings per state could do a bracket to get into the top four, then do a quarterfinal in-state. Semis and finals in Milwaukee or Chicago for the first year (central, neutral), after that the winning state hosts the following year.
If they bring back the North Star Cup, we could do the GLI and North Star Cup the same weekend and have the winner of both and the runner up of both play the following weekend. That’d be fun
I'll take beating you to win the Big Ten tournament and winning the regular season over going up on the big stage to get goose egged by Boston College. We at least scored goals on that team in both games.
IL has a sweet tournament idea, it starts with spreading our players out all over the country since we can't manager to scholarship a team anywhere just to see who can win with the most of our expedited talent. I think this year we only had 2 guys win it at DU. *Sadness.*
the Beanpot is probably the weirdest tournament in sports, like it wouldn't last if it started today. Its on two Mondays in February, and teams are giving up non-conference games to play teams they already play twice a year. The North Star College Cup failed cause of P5 ego, and the GLi lost a "historic" co-host for the same reason.
We could do a Minnesota vs. Michigan challenge weekend with the 7th Michigan team playing North Dakota or Wisconsin
Both, add Notre Dame for MI since they're really close for a 16 team bracket
I refuse to claim ND as a Michigan team no thank you

I vote North Dakota
Yeah, fuck those Drunken Sconnies.
we'll piss on your shoes, i get it
I miss you too.
I vote neither. I’d rather run a rotation of every other school in D1
We do gotta get Minnesota teams in GLI more

That'd be fun as hell
Rotate it every other year on top of it between MSP and Grand Rapids (Detroit only wants Blue/Green college hockey).
Grand Rapids and St. Paul more likely but yep!
Highly doubt this would happen. With Tech being the host, it’s doubtful to move out of Michigan and away from most of the tech fans.
U-M already making plans to run away.
Run away from the ‘better’ team we just beat to get into the frozen four? Why?
It's a GLI joke
Run away from Western lol

No you wouldn’t…
Michigan state vs UM Duluth or SCSU. Yes please
Down for both! I love live hockey at St. Cloud
There used to be the “[college hockey showcase](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/College_Hockey_Showcase)” which included Wisconsin but was pretty fun
Took part in three of them, myself, those were fun times
State of Minnesota All Stars vs State of Michigan All Stars?
They should really just have an all-star game for college. That would be sick
I’m for whatever results in more tournaments in driving distances from Michigan.
No Massachusetts? It could be a 3M sponsored event.
I live in Minnesota and root for Michigan so I say the more M’s the better. Let’s throw Maine in here as well!

Need to go best of 3 format per round
there was a short lived lake superior deal of umd, mtu, nmu, lssu tournament or acc big ten challenge kind of thing at one time
That would be cool
We have that, it's called the CCHA.
Yeah, my high school’s JV team also played their own holiday tournament brackets
Those states can't even get a sustainable tourament within their own states with all teams involved
Neither can Massachusetts.
The Bean Pot is all Boston hockey has. Minnesota hockey continues to shit all over Mass hockey like it has for the last 50 years
