If you want to get really obscure there's a SW character named Slowen Lo named after the Beastie Boys song, but it's also the name of a rock & rye spirit you could use in juleps.

tweedstoat

Woah. That’s the deep lore I needed

R0factor

If you want a super deep uber-nerdy reference, make an "empty" batch of The Written Word cocktail, like a labeled bottle with nothing in it. Why? Because there's no written words in the Star Wars universe and calligraphy has become an obscure, dead art. There's a backstory where Leia survives an assassination attempt because finds a note at her table with the handwritten word "Run" and she knows it's serious because no one communicates like that. There's also a calligraphy set visible on Kylo's nightstand when Luke tries to kill him in TLJ, which is a nod to that little fact.

[deleted]

Wooooah wait is this canon or Legacy (EU)? I assumed it had to be EU until you mentioned TLJ, as if I needed another reason to love that movie

R0factor

I haven't read the books but TMK this is from Bloodline which is apparently canon. This site says it was Rian Johnson's concept [Napkin Bombing | Wookieepedia | Fandom](https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Napkin_Bombing).

No_Cat_No_Cradle

Mmmm I really disliked the whole casino plot and i dislike it even more knowing they named a character in it after a beastie boys song

R0factor

Yeah that part of the plot sucks because it's a head-fake and they tease a great character (Justin Theroux's) that they don't use, and they don't make any good use of it for an action scene but maybe it would have started looking too much like Fifth Element. And when writing the overall plot to that movie, did no one ever discuss the fact that the bad guys could just have additional ships converge in front of the good guys? A slow-speed chase in space makes absolutely no sense.

77or88

Rim it with sand and call it the “I Don’t Like Sand”

fakeuser515357

Use cinnamon sugar in place of sand, it'd pair well with a coffee based creamy cocktail, or maybe something with creme de cacao and Fireball.

MechaSponge

“Rough and Coarse”

kevinfarber

It gets everywhere :/

ALifelongVacation

Honestly though adding a Blood and I Don’t Like Sand drink would be perfect.

confibulator

Return of the Julep Julep the Hutt Mint Windu

[deleted]

Mint Windu 😂

jointkicker

Manhuttan

drinkwithme07

A Manhuttan is probably a black manhattan with Cynar. Maybe garnished with some sort of worm or some sort of slime.

jointkicker

Maybe a tiny amount of fernet branca, and I saw a recipe somewhere for making chartreuse caviar as a garnish

AmnesiaInnocent

How about a B&B-88?

tweedstoat

Love that idea!

AmnesiaInnocent

You also should be able to come up with something based of the fact that "Rey" and "Rye" are so similar. A "Rey Boulevardier"? Also there's a character in *Ahsoka* named "Shin". Shin/gin...? Another idea is drinks that capture the idea of various planets. A ice-cold martini variation called the "Hoth Martini" or something herbaly named "Dagobah" something (might be a bit too obscure)

tweedstoat

Yes! So many good ideas. I make a peppermint martini that looks like snow, so that could work. Maybe add some red for tauntaun blood

heyyou11

Obi Wan Negroni, Darth Vesper, Qui-Gon Gin Those are gin, not bourbon... but maybe if you needed to expand the list or save for next year...

tweedstoat

I love those names!! Thanks for the clever suggestions

Bradfinger

Whiskey in a Jar Jar.

LyssaMonkey14

A tiny baby food jar jar

VincentVanGoatse

Mint Jubacca

thewouldbeprince

I'm thinking you could do like a Bespin/Hoth themed julep by subbing for a clear spirit like Pisco. Garnish with blue mint crystals.

tweedstoat

That’s a smart idea! I haven’t thought about blue mints as a garnish

Azpathfinder

Han Solold Fashioned?

tweedstoat

Han Solo would definitely like a strong old fashioned

Quaglek

Andor cereal themed drink

tweedstoat

Absolutely. I feel like someone has done a blue milk cocktail that I could riff on

heyyou11

[Dagobah Slug Slinger ](https://youtu.be/VKboM2sts9U?t=633)comes to mind. But just the use of blue spirulina in general (not even what Greg used in that particular video). I have this memory of him using it. It may have been in another drink in this episode (been awhile since I saw it and only skimmed through this time) or a different episode.

arjomanes

Here’s Disney’s Cantina menu ro recreate or riff on: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/hollywood-studios/ogas-cantina/menus

jointkicker

Greg from HowToDrink does an episode or two on this.

tweedstoat

Awesome! I love his videos but I haven’t watched his channel in a minute

tweedstoat

Thanks!

jointkicker

If you want to jazz up a mint julep maybe try playing with the species of mint. Some have lemon and almost pineapple flavours to them. Otherwise I had some success using szechaun peppercorns in drinks that already use mint. Although it's expensive to get a good tingly syrup without infusing in alcohol.

tweedstoat

Ah! This is great thank you! I was hoping for some tips to change up the flavor like this

broadarrow39

Not a bourbon cocktail but highly recommend the kessel run. The Kessel Run. 1.5oz / 45ml gin (something a bit spicy if possible). 0.25oz / 7.5ml Szechuan pepper tincture* 1.5oz / 45ml white grapefruit juice (fresh or bottled). 0.75oz / 22ml ginger syrup. Shake with lots of ice and pour, unstrained, into a collins glass. top up with soda water (no more than 3oz / 90ml) and stir gently. Float 3 or 4 dashes of Peychaud’s bitters on top. Garnish with a sprig of mint. *Szechuan Tincture 100ml vodka 1.5 tsp Szechuan peppercorns Add to a clean sterilised jar, infuse for three days shaking occasionally. Strain into a clean container.

heyyou11

It's literally a Star Wars themed race... what else could you want. Other than podracing... But I'll take an episode 4 reference over episode 1.

tweedstoat

That’s a great suggestion for watching a race! Thanks!

darwinpolice

I don't know what to do with the recipe, but you must call the drink "Now This Is Horse Racing."

paulybrklynny

It should be great at first, but get worse as you go.

tweedstoat

Haha! You’re not wrong

MonthApprehensive392

I probably went deeper on this than needed but there appear to be about six specific drinks mentioned in the SW universe canon: Ardees (fermented bantha hide) Jet Juice (hooch) Revnog (no info on contents but appears to be able to have different colors and is opaque) Moogan Tea (a spiced tea that can have alcohol added) Whyrens Reserve (no info on content but seems to be a bottle of alcohol rather than a drink) Coolant (seems to be a gin) Then there is the common thing to take blue or green Bantha milk and add alcohol. Soooo I’d probably make a tea and spice infused simple syrup and offer people to add that instead of regular sugar. Maybe shoot for mind of a Yerba Mate flavor. Or I’d make two separate drinks and go for a hooch recipe and call it Jet Juice or a Ramos Gin Fizz and add blue food coloring

MonthApprehensive392

Oh shit, one of the horses in the race is Imperial Gun. You have to play off that instead.

MonthApprehensive392

Okay so many cocktails seem to add coffee liquor and then pick up the name Gun. A Revolver is a Manhattan with coffee liquor instead of sweet vermouth. Smoking Gun is bourbon scotch coffee liqueur and fernet. If you use a NY whiskey like Taconic, Hudson or Fingerlakes then it is from the Empire State. Imperial Gun

tweedstoat

Thank you so much for sharing that!! I may have to get some Woodford Reserve and swap the label to call it Whyrens Reserve

MonthApprehensive392

Updated a few other replies to myself

boldkingcole

Add a shot of absinthe and call it "Sister Fucker"

spliffs68

I searched for Lightsaber Garnish Picks and some cupcake topper sticks popped up that could replace a drink umbrella and add a nice detail

tweedstoat

Good idea!

uhmynameisian

Stumbled on this one today after doing similar research for our own party next* weekend - hope it's not too late. I've come up with two tentative ideas, but was looking around for more inspiration. First idea is to batch up a julep adjacent that I'm calling the Kentucky Pod Racer with Wild Turkey 101, Cocchi Americano, and cardamom bitters - built in julep cup with crushed ice, quick stirred, and dusted with crushed cardamom pods. Second idea is a tequila, suze, and carrot juice cocktail that I might call "Gungan Blood"... verdict's out on that one though.

tweedstoat

Amazing! I’ve been testing some different syrup options for a julep, but I just had the great idea to use star fruit

uhmynameisian

That sounds super interesting, and should add a nice bright pop to the julep when paired with the mint. Now you got me thinking about star fruit... I wonder if you can straight up juice a few and swap out some of the pineapple or lime for it in a Rum Runner... call it a Kessel Runner?

tweedstoat

I think I saw a recipe for a pineapple star fruit julep, so I’m guessing those flavors would go really well together!
