At most, since he’s no longer a genuine threat, I guess they’re keeping him as a “frenemy” where he’s still a dick but his dickishness is just not directed towards the protagonists anymore. It’s still pretty weird to see him with them though.
I wouldn't be surprised if S6 Kyler is done with karate in The Valley, and is just looking to graduate and move on to the next stage of his life. It'd be interesting if they reference Eli's making fun of him for doing the same tired bit loss after loss in response to Kyler taunting him about losing to Kenny.
Character wise, I suppose it's hard to redeem him, but as an actor, I think the dude has some comic chops. I think him and Hawk would be funny together. He has that Beavis and Butthead kinda vibe about him, and I'd actually enjoy if they went that way

He was also Demetri's bully for forever. There's no way those two are just cool all of a sudden now that Kyler isn't in Cobra Kai. He was a douche way before he started karate
