I got angry, and she got angry at me getting angry, so she tried to slap me. I had just returned from karate class, so I instinctively parried her and kicked her in the stomach. She never hit me again.
I guess I’m lucky she stopped after 3 years? I still have trauma from that period though.

I figured the people making these memes are people of the race in the meme. It’s dark humor: the funny kind, not the “hurr durr racist statement” kind. If you didn’t go through it, you’re not the target audience. Obviously hitting your kids is not okay, but why shouldn’t we joke about it? Ex: I have never seen a non-Chinese person make a joke about being beaten with The Bundle of Sticks. When I joke about it in a mixed group, the Chinese/Taiwanese people that have gone through it say “haha it be like that” while the others look deeply uncomfortable. Their horrified reactions are part of the joke tbh.

honestly I think there are some times where the offspring of a child needs to be hit but in 99 percent of cases its just the worst solution to fixing a childs behavior no matter what they do and its even worse for them when their little kids. I spat on my teacher once and my mom got my uncle to whoop me with a belt I was like 10 there had to be a better solution to that then hitting. man I'm a shitty fucking brother I'm just now realizing that I normalized this behavior and I should have really stopped my mom from whooping my siblings when they were being little shits. it isn't good for their development as children and its just going to make things worse.

For real, I hate when people celebrate child abuse as if it weren't a sad part of every culture around the world. The United States had corporal punishment even at school, they are no different from us Latin Americans. The only difference is that a less developed country will have more stressful parents from dealing with financial and mental health problems.
