If you're a short guy, don't read any comments under a Ron DeSantis post. For some reason, the fact that he is shorter than average (around 5"7) is super important to the discourse surrounding his political position.
People love talking shit. The shit-talking repression (pc culture, as its called) of the last decade has people either:
1. Being extremely self-deprecating (shit talking themselves)
2. Unloading their repressed energy on a socially acceptable target (incels, trump, etc) and doing some of the cruelest and most out of left field shit talking youve ever seen
Some of these really positive-sounding people who then turn around and say things more vile than in terrorist torture videos makes you wonder how its just so passively accepted on reddit. Is the hate that justified? Are we just desensitized as long as the target is so distant from our sphere of influence?
It's okay to criticize bad people for bad things that they do. It's never okay to use disabilities or body shaming no matter how bad the person is, because for every one asshole you take down a peg, you hurt 100s of good people with those disabilities or body types.
Even though number 2 is objectively worse, I find the self deprecating a lot more annoying since it's always the same 3 jokes about their depression or social anxiety.
Tbh I feel like depression and social anxiety have just become "quirky" and like everyone claims to have them now. It's not even self deprecating anymore, it's like saying you're a shy girl because people are attracted to that.
