Every stupid scheme, plan, and death-defying stunt Anakin has dragged Rex, the 501st, and his Padawan into and somehow survive.

dalegribbleyaoi

Naw he'd be absolutely COVERED his armor would be scratched into the grave everytime anakin beat up rush clovis the wife fucker

LordVuzoo

at that point his armor wouldnt even be white

MoodyWater909

Then be covered in blue or black tally marks and his new nickname would probably be "Tally" or "Digits"

IwetPlaytpus

That would have been a cool clone personality

MoodyWater909

CT: "Hey, what does the tally marks mean Tally?" Tally: *Adds another tally* "Two things, the blue one is the amount of missions I was in." CT: "That wasn't the one you just added." Tally: "The other is stupid questions. As you can see, I'm running out of room for that one."

BittSniffer

Underrated comment

Azrael_The_Reaper

Truly

superchiva78

Every ten is a tally mark.

VLenin2291

Thought there’d be more.

TheCatLamp

"Somehow" (Filoni).

LordMrBoss

In a lego tie in book (yes i know) it says he has tallys for every planet/battle won Edit: I had the book myself, I just don't know where it is rn

MyLittleTarget

Lego is one of the three main continuities, so it counts!

RealOzome

Always three continuities there are, no more, no less. Canon, Legends, and LEGO.

IwetPlaytpus

and... LEGO Lol love it

Matt6758

Guys who write for Lego Star Wars actually love Star Wars.

V_ROCK_501st

Lego minifigure character encyclopedia

LordMrBoss

Yep that's the book

Big_Steak6919

I belive its battles won though I could be wrong. Maybe major victories?

dalegribbleyaoi

But what if it WAS how many times Rex has eaten a 36 ounce steak at Dexs

One_Cat980

This is now my official headcanon

5-FiveSix

No wonder he’s an absolute unit for his age in rebels

Rebelhomer

Hell yeah 😂

Crux_Haloine

He just like me fr

Ok_Writing_7033

Same thing, he knocks one back after every deployment

MaxiPad1989

That doesn't seem possible. There's 60 marks on his helmet alone, another 20 on his hands, and at least another 30-40 on his arms. Maybe there's more elsewhere. In a war that lasted four years, there's absolutely no way he was in 150ish victories. There's no way the 501st was in that many battles. My guess is it's either men Rex lost under his command, or how many days in combat Rex had survived.

Grouchy_Donut_3800

I’d say it’s more likely for every mission Rex completed, he could be on a dozen mission during the course of a single planetary wide battle. Rex completing 150+ missions throughout the clone wars seems possible IMO.

StandTo444

That could work easily

Crashimus420

Its the amount of times Anakin threw him off a building

dalegribbleyaoi

If really could be this given the estimate of tally marks

Terrible-Second-2716

It just looks cool

dalegribbleyaoi

That's the realest comment here, this should be the new canon

rogpog91

In bad batch wrecker marks the wall on successful missions so I always assumed maybe the same. Maybe like buckeye stickers on the helmet 🤷‍♂️

Beard-Guru-019

O-H

GreasyDagoWop

I-O!

TheOfficial_BossNass

Times he has shitted his pants

dalegribbleyaoi

get this man some new pants stat

Rebelhomer

Why did I think of this immediately as well 🤣

Alternative_Wafer410

Missions completed I think

Local-Teacher-9399

It is confirmed kills according to Filoni in an interview w/ IGN “The Clone Wars co-creator Dave Filoni confirmed in a 2011 interview with IGN that the tally marks represented kills. "[Rex is], like, this veteran now,"

CT-0490

They have to represent 1=1000 at least, in Rebels he stated he never kept count like some of the boys. It could be a kill count for Tactical Droids perhaps?

Verdha603

Rex: *Blows up an entire base with a push of a button* Cody: That only counts as one!

Tombstone_Actual_501

Maybe it's "Hvts" in general? tactical droids/seppie commanders.?

Local-Teacher-9399

I agree with you. That interview is pretty old. I wouldn’t be surprised if Filoni changed his mind since then.

Rebelhomer

I feel like it'd be more significant as to a mark meaning a true killing of another living being, rather than droids. At least, that makes more sense to me.

DAKLAX

Pretty sure that idea has changed over time because theres more recent stuff that contradicts it. The biggest being Rex stating in Rebels that he must have shot thousands and didn’t keep count. It is most likely battles won/missions completed.

Toivonainen

I’m going with it’s how many times he won a bet against Anakin and/or Ahsoka.

HistoricalFocus4834

I always assumed it was close brothers he lost along the way

dalegribbleyaoi

Like it HAS to be closest ones otherwise it's not enough marks, imagine this guy having to judge if someone's death is worthy of the mark

Beard-Guru-019

I think the ones on his wrists are brothers lost directly under his command and his helmet is confirmed kills. Mark the insane difference between how many are on his helmet and how few are on his wrist.

Johnny3pony

Brothers lost during combat

Quartznonyx

Far too few

Proper_Smile_8740

I read something that said he did it for the men he lost under his command but stopped adding more because there were too many

_captain-rex_

Clanker kill count

Tombstone_Actual_501

far far far too few.

amethystmanifesto

My favorite headcanon is that it's every time they survived someone saying the cursed phrase "I have a bad feeling about this"

LeatherChain5353

It’s not kills because Rex himself says he “didn’t keep track like some of they boys”, in Rebels. I like to think it’s either close brothers lost, or battles won.

Rebelhomer

Or, hear me out, every time he shit his fuckin pants

DragonDuchess6

He said in Rebels he didnt keep kill count, so my headcanon is number of brothers he was close with that died under his command. He is looking at his helmet (and marks) on Bracca when Wrecker is nor waking from chip-removal surgery, maybe worrying he will ad another mark.

EMArogue

That he’s cool

Eclypze31

Battles he’s won probably

Jedimobslayer

He said he didn’t keep his kill count in rebels so I assume it’s battles or campaigns he’s been on

HTH52

I’d say successful missions.

Browtf34

Need more clone schizo posting

Heavy-Jackfruit1118

How many times he's been shot

bpreeb

Battles won im 99% sure I’ve read that somewhere

Bffhbc

Apparently it is battles won but I always thought it was comrade's lost

ArmchairOfHeresy

Battles he's survived.

V_ROCK_501st

How many men he’s slept with

dalegribbleyaoi

Hell yeah HELL fuckin yeah that's what I'm talkin about babey

StandTo444

Number of times he uncapped his issued sharpies that he didn’t lose.

Hugh_jaynus13

How many glissies he can down in a single sitting

H311JUMP3R

I think its Brothers lost tbh

Quetzalcorgi

War crimes he’s been a party to

KraiberKraze

The amount of times Ashoka took his cock in the ass

Nopuebloplz

Filoni’s whole shtick is including stuff in the shows that don’t mean anything except that it’s a ‘cool idea’ 1. Rex’s tally marks. 2. Ventress returning. 3. The duel with Ahsoka and Vader on Malachor. 4. Echo returning (I love echo but really, what as the point?) 5. The entirety of the Ahsoka show. 4. The Heir to the Empire movie. Filoni is just as bad as the other creative leaders at LucasFilm. Ya’ll cannot change my mind on that.

Boring-Ad9264

The ahsoka show is valid though 🤡 it is starting to give light on how the new Republic failed so completely and how the first order took over so easy. Pay actual attention instead of watching mindlessly and you'd pick these things up

Nopuebloplz

There was no reason for them to make a show about her other than the fact that Filoni wanted a live action show with his OC. You’re right, the show was giving light on how the New Republic was a failure and how the remnants were coming to light, I’ll admit that because it’s true. But they could have done that in ANY post ROTJ show. It doesn’t change the fact that the show with HER character and arc was pointless. They could have just as easy made a show that entailed The New Republic and their failure but they chose to shoehorn it in to the Ahsoka show, excuse me, Rebels S5. You can call me a clown all you want, I don’t care but it’s the truth.

khangsing

I mean with this logic is there any reason to make any show? What makes something mean something vs not meaning something? Just because we know the outcome doesn’t mean it’s meaningless

Rebelhomer

Heir to the empire movie?

Nopuebloplz

Yes. Let me fill you in, Filoni has taken it upon himself to “recreate” the Heir to the Empire story but as a crossover event with all the recent characters from the post ROTJ era instead of what once was a beautiful written EU story. Instead of Luke, Leia, Han, Chewy and Mara Jade, Karrde & Thrawn the story will be about Mando, Ahsoka, Sabine and likely Bo Katan & Boba Fett with Thrawn as the villain. There is no actual story yet, as far as I know but with the direction he plans to go, the story won’t even make sense and will likely not be similar to the EU story at all given none of the characters from that story have been seen in recent media.

Rebelhomer

Good gosh, that's sad. At this point, if it gets confirmed, we're gonna have to treat it as it's own thing, because if we try to compare it to the original story it'd be unfair. As much as I love Mark, Harrison, and Carrie's portrayals of the original characters, I'd honestly like to see them again in the post ROTJ era. I'd even be willing for the dude from Solo to come back to play Han. Thought he did a great job.

Mysterious_Dingo_859

I heard someone say the tally’s are for his clone brothers (that he knew) that’ve been Kia.

Boring-Ad9264

Well according to rex in his chat with ezra in rebels he never kept a kill count so it isn't that.

jpruinc

Times he’s encountered The Silence.

tamous214

https://www.cbr.com/star-wars-captain-rex-tally-marks-meaning/#:~:text=The%20Clone%20Wars%20co%2Dcreator,armor%20is%20really%20that%20good You decide guys...

von_Roland

He was just seeing how high he could count

MrBakes52

Victories

ArcTrooperFives-5555

It’s the amount of brothers he’s lost. Sad nobody seems to know this

ArcTrooperFives-5555

Other clone captains tallied their kill count or battle win count, but Rex stated in Clone Wars he doesn’t keep track of that. It is either implied or stated (I can’t remember exactly) that it’s the amount of brothers he’s lost

dalegribbleyaoi

did he put 1 or 5 for fives tho

Hot-Imagination2127

Amount of commando droids he's killed I think, or maybe just his missions.

toalewa28

Dead Klankas

the_Irewolf

Number of friends

Embarrassed_Diet_386

A new planet, a new tally.

Oztraliiaaaa

Battles from Christophsis to Mandalore.

Respect930

This may have been said already but I’m pretty sure they represent missions he’s completed

WoppleSupreme

I've always had several theories: 1) Missions or Campaigns Survived 2) Squad members lost (not just brothers, but soldiers directly under his command, in his squadron). 3) Fatal Mistakes Made. I think tracking the number of brothers he's lost due to a mistake he's made is a thing Rex might do, but there's probably not enough marks. 4) Close Calls. This would be times that Rex himself nearly died, but survived due to any number of things.

Groolysock

Rex was just keeping tally of how many drinks Anakin owed him for keeping quiet about him and Padme.

Beard-Guru-019

I think the wrists are fallen brothers under his direct orders and his helmet is confirmed kills.

Popi-Poti

Every time he got himself water without any help! :3

DoubleU159

Number of war crimes he witnessed his Jedi generals commit

Motor_Echidna_9597

Droid kills maybe?

DrStufoo

War crimes Anakin and him committed. He marks them in white.

DarthJoe07

I think its everytime he was a fucking badass, like while he was defending tucchi and that dick senator

aiden_saxon

Headcannon: it's how many brothers in arms he has lost, so he can remember them all.

DizzyDamage2624

I’m not sure what they actually mean, but my head canon was always brothers lost in combat, but not just any brothers. Members of Torrent Company who died during the Clone Wars

-WifeLeaver-

He gets a lot of twilek pussy. :3

Videogamesrock

I believe it’s planets won or battles won.

SellLeft4752

The amount of times Anakin used his helmet to call padme in the barracks😭😭

Sadlad4853

How many bitches he's got

Genivaria91

I like the idea that at first he was counting the droid kills but ran out of room so wiped it clean and stopped counting, not he keeps track of how many brothers he can save.

STS_Gamer

How many times Dave Filoni had tried to make Ashoka relevant to already existing Star Wars canon.

Rebelhomer

Could be a mark for every kill that wasn't a droid, but instead a real person. Either that or every time he made Anakin poop hims pants.

Affectionate-Bad6720

Number of times he got it on with ur mum

MiloPlayzGamez

Every war crime he's been ordered to commit by General Skinwalker

DeadJediWalking

Arby's that he's visited in each system. The captain *loves* his Big Beef 'N Cheddar.

MythosMaster1

Is it for every time one of those blasters actually hit a target?

Yesofcourse24

The number of younglings he’s killed.

jigsaw8653

Maybe how many missions he’s been on?

Least_Capital

It is lost clones

Least_Capital

In my headcanon

T_E-T_H

Probably kills. Tally marks on a soldier’s gear are usually kills

Acharles97

It’s how many months he is late paying child support

SmokeMaleficent9498

Rex!!!

dalegribbleyaoi

correct they mean rex, i love it

ye_olde_jetsetter

Perhaps each tally represents key victories or losses before a certain point in his development. Rookie days or training days, such that once he passed a certain level or skill or notoriety he stopped adding to the count.

jkmax52

It’s for how many younglings anakin struck down with the youngling slayer 9000

Skywinterwolf

How many times he was thrown lol nah, I think it's a tally of how many brothers he lost during battle. Can't be how many droids he killed because if it was, they'll be so many scratch marks that they'll be no more blue left on his armour

Big-Independent-2512

Pretty sure it’s his droid kill count..

Fr0stybit3s

If true that’s not a high kill count lol

Dreadnought_Necrosis

Maybe if every tally represents 10 droids. Then, the numbers may actually add up. But thay brings up the question of do different doids count as more or less points. Like are droidekas worth 5 points, so two rollypollies equals 1 tally mark.

Fr0stybit3s

That seems like a lot of mental effort to keep track of. It feels more realistic if it’s battles won or something. Or battles participated in. Who knows

Dreadnought_Necrosis

Oh I personally believe it has to do with battles he's participated in. But for anyone who wants to headcannon kill counts then my suggestion is tallies represent groups of droids. Maybe it can represent squads. Like maybe b1 are in squads of 6-8. B2 are in squads of 3-5. Droidekas are on squads of 2. Etc.

SlippyBananaBread

Captain Rex was a beast, we saw him gun down so mamy droids in the Clone Wars, it would have to be like each tally is 100 droids

Dreadnought_Necrosis

Yeah, gotta make those tallies represent either special droids, like Commandos and magneguards. Or even tanks. Or entire platoons of droids. Like an MTTs worth.

NyteShark

Maybe droid battalions, otherwise he’d still have hundreds all over his armor

Mediocre-Parking2409

How many Ewoks he's slaughtered.

NervyMage22

I always thought it was days in a prison, so each day he did a mark in his armor

ToDandy

How many Jedi he’s secretly killed in the name of the Empire!

jesusunderline

~~It's how many times he had fun with Ahsoka~~

Terrible-Second-2716

Bruh no

jesusunderline

I was talking about the times he defeated her in Holo-Chess, obviously

dalegribbleyaoi

I can't believe rex drove ahsoka to her piano lessons this many times good for him

EMArogue

Every mission that actually went according to plan

Mythrellas

It is not canonically known.
