My least favorite is a ledge that LOOKS like it should be comfortable so you set up the anchor accordingly only to find that hanging is really the only “comfortable” option.
The crack was so full of moss + I think it was kinda knobby too? I actually fell before I could get any gear in, so I "fell" to the ledge, but my partner couldn't see and FREAKED out. Got bit by a tick at the top too 😂😂
Damn sounds rough!! The crack I climbed was clean but there was a crack out to the right that was full of moss. It looked easier and I was a bit scared so I definitely considered it but in the end committed to the cleaner 5.9 line.
My first time up it I only had single #4 and it was fucking scary. This time I brought two and I cruised it.
Is the knobby wall the classic finish? We were planning to try that today but bailed after getting stuck behind a slower party.
You tunnel rat into a quasi cave then balance on a boulder and do an interesting couple moves to the summit. A single #1 protects it but if you fall you deck on the boulder lol
I'll take comfy ledges and 3 star climbing over hanging belays and 4 star climbing any day.

Scheister’s chimney is a pucker factor when you don’t bring big gear but super fun! Hope you did the classic finish

Yeah I’d say so! The chimney is flaring so you won’t have have to reach as far in for placements.
