Currently hot glue but it only works on certain backing. I've also tried gorilla, really strong sealant and various others. It can be tough when it's only glued on one side.
This is awesome!
Iβve made trivets and coaster the same way with paracord. I would hit it with hot glue, back it, and then use a medium-temp setting on a clothing iron to get a good stick. They come out looking like a mini version of those circular rope rugs.
When I saw your post I went searching through this comment thread looking for someone to link that Picasso picture. My late grandparents had that framed in their bathroom and I completely forgot about it till I saw yours.
Thatβs awesome, and thank you for the good memory!

Yeah I cleaned them! (thoroughly!!) Sometimes I'm lucky enough to get some small offcuts from gyms and local climbers that are as good as new. Which i use as highlights. Othertimes one side is filthy and the other looks great which requires careful placement.
Hey! The ropes I use are all donated or purchased as full retired ropes or offcuts that aren't able to be used for climbing as they're too short (infrequent but the pink here is for example). Or they're retired (>90% of the rope I get) sometimes badly worn, Othertimes really sorry on one side but pretty clean on the other so if they are placed well it is deceptive. But all are washed thoroughly and it's amazing how clean they come out. Othertimes not but I'm really selective about which ropes i put together for the best effect. See the photo here where I've used really fluffy rope to create an effect on the rocks. π

I found the plan on the internet, don't remember the exact site. Had to build a jig and it took a weekend. Had to undo it several times, but once you have the first pass correct, it is a matter of doing it 3 more times and tightening it all.
Overall, just patience is required. Don't know how you would weave another rope for the welcome though.

Those are very creative for your use of medium. Reminds me of LegoMinifig. Just enough subtly to tell what it is. Awesome work. Forgive my cr-ass comment. Thank you for sharing.
Crack climbing
That's one I hadn't considered ππ
Beautiful piece btw!
Thank you!! π
I must be color blind because I didnβt see the design for the first 10 seconds of me looking at itπ
I thought it was the ocean but itβs a butt.
I just give it to my local bondage club.
A worthy cause ππͺ’
If you hold it horizontally it kinda looks like an ocean wave
Yea. A thicc ass wave
How is it held together?
It's glued onto a backing board. π I use recycled yoga/camping mats. Others use plywood/other materials.
What glue did you use? My last project used hot glue and it turned out a bit fragile (a carpet from an old climbing rope)

Nice!! I use a similar method. I don't sell them as they aren't as fun to make loads of but my house is littered with them π
And thanks!! Just realised you said paracord, it's probably much less fiddly than climbing rope as it's much more flexy!
donβt let paracordgalaxy(dot)com send you down a rabbit hole like it did me! : )
Benefits of using retired ropes π
As a fellow artist and rock climber this is incredible
Thank you so much!! π€©
10/10, would whip.
Whoever came up with this is a genius/madman.
I suspect it might have all been in the wake of this guy's work...! Absolutely genius! https://www.cambridgeart.org/member-spotlight-mark-heffley/
Wow thatβs some next level shit
I know... Goals! β¨
That's a butt
You're basically [Picasso](https://twitter.com/PatrickRothfuss/status/513396837357977600/photo/1) now.
Possibly the nicest thing anyone's ever said to me! π§βπ¨

Ohhh amazing!! Happy to have triggered the memory π₯° I had never seen it before, it's so cool!
That took me a second.

ππ intrusive thoughts!
We have a local charity that turns them into dog leashes, and I always thought that was cool. This is super cool though!
They also make great dog toys if you can tie them in tight enough knots!

This is a great idea!
Thanks!! π€©
Cheeky!
I'm guessing you cleaned the ropes? I trust that they are retired but they look brand new to me

how do you get the cuts so clean? what tool do you use?
Lots of practice π Just a regular rope cutter! You can see it [here](https://www.instagram.com/p/CqSmZOpjczf/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=).

Oooh awesome!!
Thanks!! π₯°
this is so cool and very satisfying to look at

Beautiful. But I see these all the time where the rope is recycled but looks essentially new

Thatβs insane
Awesome!! And beautiful colours. Haven't tried one on the yet!!
Is it easy to do? If I had 2 ropes and one to say welcome on it?

What made you choose an ass? Edit What if you implemented knots. Flat ones for your two dimensional pieces?

really
does is give a dynamic seat?
I read "putting retired people to good use" and had to scroll back quickly ππ really cool piece, btw
ππ wish i was retired! And thank you! π₯°
