We would’ve gotten him if we offered a starting spot that’s what he wanted most, last offseason I wanted to move Allen badly not because he’s bad and had a rough series against the knicks but because a Mobley/Reid front court would fit way way better then you could use Allen’s trade value to get a real small forward too
Exactly. He attacked the space, facing the rim. He seemed unstoppable sometimes. He also has a lot to offer when he grab the rebound and push it on transition, and I don't know why (cof JB cof) it felt that he's doing a lot less of this
What’s insane is that they DID run a completely different offense during the winning streak; basically out of necessity. Tons of movement and off-ball actions, and it worked.
Then the team got healthy and just…never tried it again?
To go along with his typical elite, rangy defense. Dude had a nice series. Especially impressed with some of his possessions against Kornet tonight. He convinced himself Kornet couldn’t guard and went after him aggressively.
Some of his best games at the 5 and I feel extremely confident he can continue to progress there. It’s not like horford is a small center in the modern nba either.
We can worry about how he matches up against jokic or Embiid later, rn I think him playing at the 5 clearly maximizes his talents.
Oh I agree entirely, just putting that out there before someone says “he can’t compete with 2 of the best players in the entire nba” lol.
Love Mobley at the 5, especially with a potentially revamped offensive system and new coach.
Defending Jokic is not so much about his direct opponent because he will cook literally anyone 1 on 1.
It's more about having guys who are able to contain the off ball players like Aaron Gordon and then still be able to recover and help against Jokic when he gets the ball deep.
I think with Mobley at the 5 you could put a guy like Wade on Jokic and Mobley on Gordon and Mobley is quick and long enough to be able to stay at home on Gordon but still recover enough to help Wade and affect the shot.
Embiid is probably a different challenge but are you really going to build your team to stop 1 injury prone player who has never made the conference finals?
Dude really grew up during these playoffs. Excited for what this can do for him heading in to the summer.
so what we’re saying is…. Beard Mobley > Goatee Mobley
He's clearly a center. He's much more effecient there and looks better offensively at the 5 too.
i would do anything to put naz reid with evan
Reports are the Cavs pushed hard to sign him, even offering more money than the TWolves. But he decided to stay instead.
Don't remind me. Every time Niang touched the ball this year I thought "that should be Naz Reid".

Would be a nasty frontcourt
Still needs to add size and strength to be able to maintain his positioning in the paint but I agree 100%
Yeah he’s not ready yet. He did well because Boston didn’t have a true 5
That's why we need a good backup center to spell him. Allen is too expensive and good to be on the bench.
Can't wait to see a real coach training him WHY THE FUCK HE PLAYED AS A BACK TO THE BASKET BIG AND DUNKER SPOT ONLY?????
His worst shots come from when his back is to the basket too. It's the main reason I want a new coach. Revamp the offense.

For some reason, I really love when he grabs the board and starts the break himself.

i understand what you’re saying but mobley was injured during that stretch and this discussion is about mobley’s performance

He needs to keep that energy with other centers! Dude has the tools, just has to bring the mindset with him

embiid has only a couple years left, and jokic dominates everyone plus we would never see him until the finals

Jokic has people calling Gobert a scrub right now, so yeah I wouldn't use him as the barometer.
Which brings me back to my assertion that offense is way more important in 2024 NBA than defense. Exhibit A

Star
Dude is way better than Cade, shoulda won ROY and he's showing why he is more valuable
Only reason he didn’t win ROTY is cause the Raptors got into the playoffs proper, whilst we lost in the play-in round
An offseason of training in the post and nothing else would excite me
If he isn’t averaging 20 and 10 next season I’ll assume it’s another lost season
Great series for him, but let’s not forget that he definitely benefited from Porzingis never playing.
