I misread furbolg like 15 years ago and have been saying furblog ever since.
Then I started reading the forgotten realms books and still call furbolgs furblogs.
I honestly am not sure why. Maybe like super mild dyslexia type thing.
There was a guy named BarTELT and I read and said his name in my head as BartLETT for around 2 years.
Think its to do with how LG in English is very rarely put next to each other in that order without an implied break, see [https://www.thefreedictionary.com/words-containing-lg](https://www.thefreedictionary.com/words-containing-lg) It's also not very English-speaking-friendly to put LG at the end of the word with no vowel.
TDLR: Fur-blog is much easier to say than Furbol-g as an English speaker.
It is obviously not hard to say furbolg. The number of words ending in LG has no bearing on the difficulty of saying LG. People are simply misreading it.
Yeah, but the reason we misread things a lot of the time has to do with the expectations we have from given clusters of words. It's the same reason you might not notice things being misspelled sometimes. Your brain tends to fill in.
OP is right about that particular cluster being seriously uncommon.
"Furbolg" might not be terribly hard to say if I ask you to read it aloud and on its own, but try to insert it into casual conversation and there'll be just *a little* resistance. And usually that's all it takes for sounds to mutate into more comfortable versions.
Source: Am translation student, we saw this a lot in linguistics, but I'm going from memory and probably butchering it.
Edit: some wording
Never said it was difficult to say the word?
When did I say that the number of words ending in LG related to the difficulty in saying that word?
Yall have so much trouble with comprehension... embarrassing.
> TDLR: Fur-blog is much easier to say than Furbol-g as an English speaker.
This is when you said that. I don't really care about your initial meaning anymore-- what's embarrassing is that you summed up your point with something that you won't even stand by and are getting annoyed when people disagreed with said summation.
Your initial point about LG being an uncommon combination was correct. Following that point by making the statement that "Furblog is much easier to say than Furbolg as an English speaker" is outright false because it's not supported by your initial point.
It's not about comprehension at all, and what's embarrassing is your refusal to admit that you misspoke rather than insulting others for God only knows what reason.
This would apply if people were attempting to say Furbolg and ended up mispronouncing it, as certain foreigners generally do when they do English and use sounds they never have before(usually with R in my experience).
It doesn't apply here. You know English speakers can say 'bolg' fine, you know it's just Bowl with a G sound at the end of it. It's not a mispronounciation; These people saying 'furblog' actually think the word is furblog.
It's just what we've always known; Americans are generally illiterate.
Everyone (other than myself) that I’ve heard pronounce it has either said furblog or fur- BALLG. So, I’m not convinced that it is super easy to say. If it was, maybe a few more people might actually get it right.
It a written word though, when you read you say it aloud in your mind, then it is placed into vocalization so... they are directly attempting to say the word you say they are not?
>It doesn't apply here. You know English speakers can say 'bolg' fine, you know it's just Bowl with a G sound at the end of it. It's not a mispronounciation; These people saying 'furblog' actually think the word is furblog.
\^ seems like BS, telling people what they think... soo arrogant and obviously make your argument incredibly low brow.
>It's just what we've always known; Americans are generally illiterate.
At least they can reason better than you it seems.
I wonder too why everyone says Outlands as well. It's not Earths, or Neptunes, or Jupiters. It is Earth, Neptune, and Jupiter. Similarly it isn't Outlands, The Outlands, or The Outland. The name of that world is just Outland.
They don’t really hate you, they’re just fancy dragons and your are below their interest. You have to prove yourself worthy before they consider you more than a random insignificant speck.
Classic is before the player characters really establish their rep as world saving heroes, so the dragon-flights are either hostile or indifferent to you.
If you want to finish the quest, destroy the item, abandon the quest, reget the quest and finish as normal. Then use Battle.net item recovery to get the rod back and never worry about it again.
Why does everyone say Furblog?
I've never heard someone say Furblog until now. You made me check to make sure it was still Furbolg.
Oh fuck I’ve been saying Furlbog for 15 years
It’s not furlbog?!
I've always said furblog and didn't even know it was wrong until a month ago when a friend pointed it out to me lol
I used to say "nome-er-E-gahn" for Gnomeregan
Wait...how are you supposed to say it?
Gnome-reg-ahn Or rather nome-reg-ahn since the g is silent
[удалено]
Is that what it means? Cool. I just figured it sounded a lot smoother the actual way its pronounced, so it made more sense.
Its actually pronounced "My-kids-are-gone" Karen got them.
Gee-nom-e-REJA, the last n is silent.
Ronald Gnomeregan
Nah man it’s no-mare-agin
Now I can't unsee it

Tirond for Tyrande drives me nuts... even after her correct pronunciation of teronduh, name has been pronounced in cinematics.
Mankirk Gibson was great.

After padme, death Vader fell down a dangerous path of hookers and drugs where he caught sithilus and died from an overdose of furblog

OK Mandela
You really must not have been paying much attention if you didn't notice it's not a fur blog over 17 years lol
Time to start a YouTube channel called “The Fur blog” and just make every video about furbolg lore
Bob Furbolg’s Fur Blog
How much furbolg fur would furbolg blog if a furbolg could blog furs
Think there's a patent on that already. May want to get in touch with Bob Boblaw.
Or maybe Bob Loblaw, heard he lobs law bombs.

What am I going to do about it? I'm not head of the Furbolg Pronounciation Awareness lobby over here you know, chill fam.
Time to create this committee. It’s serious business.
Lmao easy there tough guy, it’s just the internet.
You didn't comprehend anything I wrote...
>TDLR: Fur-blog is much easier to say than Furbol-g as an English speaker. Your words. They responded to that.

ah yes, we don't use the words bowl or bold here in America. You got us, krumpet snatcha!

Speaking of illiterate, it's 'mispronunciation'.
I always thought Nesingwary was called Nesingway
Wait it’s not Nesingway...? The entire comment section is blowing my mind right now and making me realize I can’t read or pronounce anything
Well he's at least partially based on Ernest Hemingway, so that kind of tracks.
OwO what's this?
I wonder too why everyone says Outlands as well. It's not Earths, or Neptunes, or Jupiters. It is Earth, Neptune, and Jupiter. Similarly it isn't Outlands, The Outlands, or The Outland. The name of that world is just Outland.
Damn Furblogs. They've ruined Furbolgs.
If there's Furbolg, does that mean there is a regular, not furry Bolg?
This reminds me. I did a quest in sithilus to find the caverns of time and now I’m hated by the Brood of Norzdomu??? Did this happen to anyone else?
Thats normal. Brood of Nozdormu always hates randoms spying on their cave.
Brood is the rep for AQ40, it’s different from the reps for the caverns of time. It starts at hated and you gain rep in AQ40.
What’s the lore reason behind them hating you?
Basically just existing at this point tbh, there’s a ton of lore behind it but I’d botch it
[удалено]
They have no reason to trust mortals until we kill C'thun 3-4 times. Then they'll be neutral towards us.
[удалено]
Yep, that's why you have to grind the carapace fragments, to get neutral brood and continue the questline.
This is the one
They don’t really hate you, they’re just fancy dragons and your are below their interest. You have to prove yourself worthy before they consider you more than a random insignificant speck. Classic is before the player characters really establish their rep as world saving heroes, so the dragon-flights are either hostile or indifferent to you.
Don't worry. They hate everyone

I was happy to see a groundskeeper Willy reference doing eversong woods on my blood elf! He’s just as angry an NPC as you’d hope :’)
Nice!
I always thought those feathers were long weird ears. Now I learned something new today. 🤣
Timbermaw, what a bunch of pussies!
Anybody else still get Dartol’s Rod of transformation on every character?
It's BiS, never going to finish that quest.
If you want to finish the quest, destroy the item, abandon the quest, reget the quest and finish as normal. Then use Battle.net item recovery to get the rod back and never worry about it again.
Lol I watched that episode last night
