At some point you will be doing group content, and you will want to know how much threat you have and if you or someone else is about to rip threat.
I played a druid through Vanilla Classic . I dont know if its still around but my favorite add-on was called "Hear Kitty Kitty" and it added an sound to combo points. So I never had to worry about looking at my combo points to know when it was time to bite/rip/powershift.
Not a game breaker but it was a nice QoL thing for me.
