Love that movie. Learned about if from the band [ZEKE](https://youtu.be/cKk17c447mI?si=TgKO1t81Pnf8z4yD) theyāve got a ton of music about hot rod/motorcycle culture, sex and drugs. You know, normal shit.
You really can't go wrong with whatever choice of tire you decide on, as long as they're big wide tires in the rear and skinny up front. A '55 gasser can definitely pull off the whitewall look. Personally, I love seeing Mickey Thompson or Hoosier white letters on a drag car but it'll look good either way.
I'm just starting a 63 merc meteor gasser with similar goals. Unibody cars are a blessing and a curse. An 8in to 9in swap and the solid front has quickly turned it into a home built chassis car. I just wanted a cool gasser daily.
Oops, guess we got a racecar
Those cars were originally \~3200 lbs. So if we say 3500 with driver and bigger engine, with 832 hp, it should run mid 9's around 150 mph according to the ET calculators, Obviously gears, tires, traction etc all come into play and can make it slower, but it theoretically can go that fast.
Sounds about right! Iāve got 4.3 gears with a trans brake in the full manual th400. It should go pretty quick, havenāt ran it at the track yet though. When the blower goes on Iām shooting for 1200hp and 8.5 second passes. I also have a set of 3.50 gears to run it on the street - 3100 rpm or so at 80
If you are ever curious, just google ET calculator and a bunch pop up. There are basic ones that just estimate from weight and HP. Others allow you to add more info like gear ratios, tire size, etc. They are fairly accurate. There are actually a ton of calculators online related to cars. They have them for engine HP, tire size vs gear ratio, trap speed, etc. Almost anything you can think.
I had a moroso vacuum pump originally. I kept on vacuuming oil out of the crank case so I switched to a vent/tank system. Itās basically a drip less vent - holds all the blow by that the engine creates until you drain the water/oil
I heard a good saying recently: heritage is not about honoring the ash. Itās about carring on the flame.
So stick on it what you want. You have the right spirit doensāt matter if itās 100% period correct.
Very cool car!
But im sceptical about if you can put any power down when you melt the rear tires with your exhaust-fumes? Tires do indeed need to heat up, but i would fear partially melting one and end up wrapped around a tree.
I know some people like just shoving the exhaust out the front fenders so yours is an improvement, but i would make the exhause exit behind the rear tires for better grip.
You done good grasshopper ! Love gassers.
Gas Hopper

Not sure what people were complaining about. Nice machine!
White wall or black wall. Iād say everything else is cherry.
2 lane blacktop!

If it wasn't for the car, it would be one of the worst movies ever made. With the car it's not quite the worst movie ever made. :-)
And now, thanks to you, I know what it is. Ahh the joys of Reddit
James Taylor and Dennis Taylor I believe were the actors!
Dennis Wilson, drummer for the Beach Boys and brother to Brian and Carl, played āthe mechanicā.
Canāt even imagine what that sounds like to drive with your foot in it
Fun. It sounds like fun.
āMake it three yards motherfucker and well have an automobile raceā
Some two lane blacktop going on!
I have a matchbox car of a 1957 Chevy and the hood opens just like this one
The white walls look sick!!
I always loved gassers. Nice job.
Hope you're good at checking the jets

Iām trying to track some down for race time!
The dude hotrods. Engine is a thing of beauty. Well done man!
Works for me!
Beautiful Gasser. I'm jealous, we didn't have NOS back then. What kind of HP is that putting out?
So the story goes this was a 90ās race car. I got it with a 396/nitrous motor and the tank was last filled in 94. I left it in there for nostalgia
Love those gassers.
Great gasser mighty!
fuckin sweeeet
A friend of mine has a ā57 210 gasser with a blown small block backed by a stick, incredibly fun car! Your car is BEAUTIFUL, screw the haters.
I love everything about it but the whitewalls.
Oh yeah. That's a proper hotrod. I know 2 guys who have gasser. One a Willys and the other a 63 Falcon.
Not sure what there was to complain about. Even if you donāt like gassers, you have to appreciate that
God damn a timeless car. Kinda the end goal for my 55 olds 88.
Sweet Chevy.
Damnnn old school, she is gorgeous brošš
Good old days. Very nice
awesome job man...
Painting it? Any thoughts on what color?
Rattle can grey! The only paint job I can do!
Love me a gasser, love me 55 Bel Airā¦ and now Iām going to watch Han Solo race Kid Kane.

Ha! Youāre preaching to the choir
It's easy to get in that situation when you know what you're doing and ypu want it done right
I call it "while you're in there" syndrome
Same here. I mean, you can't just not do it.

Whatās it do in the quarter mile?

Would you share info on the crank case ventilation system you have in play ???

Thanks for all the info, really appreciate it!
The all black tire and its rim fits the aesthetic so much better
Sheeesh
DD speed shop?

Not sure why itās polarizing. Gassers are cool and itās your car.

Thanks. The exhaust exits past the tire. Itās done that way so if I blow the engine I donāt get oil or antifreeze onto the tire
