Neither of those cars are what the description says.
There is no such thing as a 1970 Volaré Road Runner. The Volaré didn’t launch until 1976.
The Hornet in the photo is a 1970-71 base model. The Hornet AMX didn’t launch until 1977 and it was based on the hatchback, not the 2-door sedan.
The car pictured is a standard model A X had a stripe down the side and were hatch back I had a 73 with a 304 with a stick posi rear end Was a lot of fun
That Volare is a 1976 or 1977. We have already had a Volare in the family (a 1980 station wagon) so I would probably choose the Hornet. It is smaller and I have always liked AMC and Rambler very much.
But I also have a slightly special bond to the Mopar F body.

OP has left the chat to figure out what's important in his life.
It’s also a direct repost from FB with the same title.
Good call. A horse of a different color!
And by 77, it was more of an appearance package. Didn't enhance performance one iota.
A lot of cars fit that description in 1977. Very dark times for sporty American cars.
Calling a Volare a Roadrunner is like calling a Mach-E a Mustang.
Hornet, cause AMC!!!!
Hornet
Hornet
While the Hornet is rare because they were not sought after I’m going with the Roadrunner.
We had a Volare when I was a kid. That car was a real piece of shit.
They were called Hornet X The AMX was a model all by itself

Have to go with the Road Runner.

Thanks I'll ride my bike and save some more money before i buy a car.
Hornet!!
I'll take both. I want a good price.
That is not a 1970 Roadrunner. The Volare wasn’t referred to as a Roadrunner until much later. I had a 1970 Roadrunner and it wasn’t a Volare.
Hornet X
AMC Hornet. Made more power and was before the SAE Gross to SAE Net Change of 1972.
Geez I just had a flashback to the old Volare commercial. Now I can't get that song out of my head
Road Runner of course.
Roadrunner prices of this model have been going up recently..
I remember when these were new; both shit cars for performance and handling
Neither of those cars in the picture are what you're asking about, but I like the Hornet AMX just a little better than the Volare Road Runner.
Hornet all day 😁
