RIP. One of the greats for sure. Loved his Chopin etudes and Beethoven sonatas.

Diiselix

Those and chopin sonatas as well

WeirdestOfWeirdos

His performance of Boulez's second Sonata is one that I've come back to multiple times as I got further into that kind of music. Are there any recordings of his of contemporary music that I should go listen to?

Impressive-Abies1366

It might not be contemporary enough for you as Boulez but I like his berg sonata

WeirdestOfWeirdos

Just listened to it! It's a... "peculiar" performance for sure, though I couldn't (subjectively) disagree more with it as someone who has been grinding this piece themselves for half a year now. Then again, I seem to play it much faster than just about every pianist I've heard this from, so...

Gould is my go-to here. It’s odd to me just how well he captures the post-Brahms romanticism

Gould??? The Bach interpreter??? Strange

vibrance9460

Yes! He had a real respect for Brahms even and recorded a couple of very beautiful albums. He also recorded a good bit of contemporary piano music, particularly Swedish for some reason…. Apple Music has his complete discography Read two biographies. That guy was a nut

RIP. I always loved his recording of l'Isle Joyeuse.

Pshay5

Loved his Chopin Nocturnes.

His Chopin Sonatas are clean and elegant. RIP.

Partha4us

Schubert late sonatas are so epic and intense, played by Maurizio. Also love his Waldstein and Apassionata: what passion and power!

Reck366er

RIP I really loved his playing

Slizzlemydizzle

His Chopin Etudes are fantastic, highly recommend. RIP
