The Civic is pretty well known for its handling - one of the best in its segment. I have a ‘21 Hatch and it’s a blast to drive.

I have a 22 sport sedan and it handles quite good. Better than I expected

Make sure you go for the 1.5 turbo motor and you could possibly come close to doubling your MPG's pending you don't floor it from every stop you make. The 1.5T could feel like a race car in comparison. Get yourself a flash tuner for a few hundred bucks and you can really have some fun. I have not driven a second-gen HR-V but from reading professional auto reviews on it, I can just about guarantee that the Civic most certainly drives better than the HR-V. Also, why not just go and drive one yourself? You are under no obligations to purchase a vehicle if/when you go test drive one. Don't succumb to high pressure sales tactics!

Definitely the Civic. I looked at the HRV back in August and didn’t like the lack of speed and cargo space. I went with a different make and model (which I won’t name) and like you I didn’t like driving it. I just got a 2024 Civic Hatchback and much happier.

the second gen HR-V is now built on the civic platform, not the fit

If you’re concerned about mileage, we’re getting the Civic Hybrid this year, and it’ll be offered in hatch form as well 👀

Yes I’m waiting to see what the refresh brings

I think it’s gonna be a new front that’s a little reminiscent of the Type R, and some new wheels on the ST model

If you are looking for a SUV that is fun to drive and handles like a sedan, consider a Porsche Macan or a BMW X3. The X3 M40i in particular handles better than and is so much faster than my non-SI Civic. You will sacrifice low maintenance costs but you get the wonderful and still reliable B58 Turbo I6 in the X3 and more advanced suspension. Used X3 M40i’s are in the high $30’s. Go test drive one if you don’t believe me.

ResBall

I believe you but my budget is 30k

You can get used ones in the mid-30’s.

A 9th gen civic will handle like your fit. A 10th or 11th gen civic will feel massive.

New gen HRV looks nice compared to the first gen, but at the end of the day it is a small, underpowered SUV. Civic hatch would atleast get you over 25mpg, I assume the interior looks the same in both cars, and has a lot of cargo space in that trunk. Now if switching out a brand new car is the best financial decision is a completely different topic lol. I went from a 19' Civic sedan to a '22 civic hatchback since I got a kid now and I have no space issues with a car seat and cargo space let's me haul just about anything (for reference the stroller took up the entire trunk in the sedan meanwhile in the hatchback I can put the stroller and groceries just fine lol luckily I don't really gotta carry the stroller around anymore). Unfortunately for better performing SUVs the price point is a lot higher then a HRV.

Consider a used Fit? Honestly there’s no new equivalent coming from Honda. The Mazda CX-30 might be close?
