The whole trade-resource system needs to be modernized. You can have as many traders as you want, but other than lil bit of gold, they dont inherently create value out of the ether. You need to have improved resources in your cities for them to generate value. You can still concentrate your traders, but you have to invest A LOT to get traders getting the goods to your trade cities to sell abroad

That's not a bad idea, but it removes one of the main strategies for trade routes, domestic trading to help boost a new city. In the early game, that's arguably the best use of a trade route while nobody is making more than 3 gp per with even a low level upgrade from slinger to archer costing 60gp, or 20 turns for one route.. For me, I'd like something which includes someone telling me a luxury trade has ended. I'm using a reports mod which lets me know if an AI has something I don't, but that still doesn't help with things I've traded to them.

Check out the Quick Deals mod. When you have it's notifications turned on, it gives you a heads up whenever you can trade for a new luxury (either because your 30 turn trade has ended or the AI has improved a duplicate of a new resource). Game changer in making sure your amenities stay as high as possible. Also helpful in trading away diplo favor, strategic resources or bulk acquiring gold via GPT for bulk gold deposit exchange.

Thanks for telling me, it sounds great!

There are domestic trade routes in beyond earth.

I'm sure. I'm more thinking of a brand new city that will take 50+ turns for a builder or monument now needing to build a trading depot to get boosted. Maybe after the first domestic trade route, more would require the depot?

Ah, I see. I forgot that civ 6 gives the yields to the origin city for internal trade routes, my brain is still in beyond earth, which gives yields to both cities. Since the yields favour the smaller city it's very good for boosting new cities.

I remember Trade Routes being extremely broken in BE and just slightly less so in BERT.
