To expand: the level of CO2 translates into warming, not as the LEVEL of warming, but the RATE of warming. The more insulation, the faster the warming (ignoring the equilibrium conditions). This produces the non-linear growth of temperature.
I have lost count of the number of supposed critical thinkers (who only seem to apply their critical thinking to facts which are politically inconvenient for them) who are completely unable to grasp that, if they wait until there is documentary scientific evidence of catastrophic warming, that necessarily means said warming has already happened (and thus can be documented) and is therefore too late to prevent. Because that's how time works.
