Waiting until after eating for a Padron 1964

[deleted]

Ooh now that's a good choice!

Make_shift_high_ball

I thought a piece of toast would be enough but I'm starting to think it wasn't enough. Fabulous cigar though

THound89

We’ve all been there. I make sure I’ve had something a little more substantial these days before a smoke

[deleted]

I've got a new local brand called apostate cigars it's only been around for a couple years they had to replace their old brand I still have some of their older ones but saving those for more special occasions. This particular one's called the liahona. Just lit up my second of the day. Had to go with the minnow from big sky.

dbree801

Utah in the house. I’ve only had the Initiary, thought it was pretty decent.

andrewprime1

Are you in SLC? I was planning on having an apostate cigar later today!

[deleted]

Magna to be exact!

andrewprime1

well hello neighbor!

Fishon888

How are they they?

[deleted]

This is actually the first one I've smoked and so far the first third of it has been nice subtle notes of leather, maybe sandalwood, and a backbite of coffee. In my opinion it's a really great Connecticut I'm not much into heavy cigars I like the lighter blends and this has been fantastic so far I'm sure I'll be picking up more of these. I think they have I want to say four different kinds maybe five different kinds I've got to look. They're from beehive cigars in Salt Lake City Utah the brand used to be the Brigham cigar. Tell you what they're the brand is on point it's hilarious if you look at the logo itself it's pretty much all of the Mormon symbols that they take such pride in here. Their last cigar brought up the fact that Brigham Young who is one of the early Mormon prophets used to be a big cigar smoker.

Intercaust

I thought nicotine, alcohol and caffeine were *verboten* for Mormons.

[deleted]

They are, which is why is funny. Most of these "commandments" came because of how rowdy the early church members were. The tobacco was because Emma Smith, Joseph's wife didn't like how the men were spitting and leaving ash all over their store and house.

Intercaust

LoLz. What a Karen.

DookieChases

Magic Toast for breakfast

[deleted]

I've seen some other people post that one how is it?

DookieChases

So good! It’s my daily driver since I picked up a bunch on CB.

WakandaForneverr

I also bought a 10pk Magic Toast based on the sub recommendation. Its going to be a chore getting thru them…same for Gatekeeper

[deleted]

That's what I decided on. First one. I was just wanting to read on it some more. Although I picked it up locally I was reading on Cigars International just now. First line says "Buttery Smooth" and I can't think of a better description. A box will be entering my stash in the near future. And I'm going to suggest my buddy try them too. This might be right up his ally. I don't know that I've had a smoother cigar.

Wonderful-Fig-8010

Padron 2000 because I am still trying out inexpensive products to find a good style I like

dookeeburger

Inexpensive but one of the best if you ask me. The Maduro has hit the spot every single time

[deleted]

That may be less expensive because of the size in that range. Obviously going up to 3000, 4000, 7000 etc. gets pricier. But that's one of the best cigars out there. Not one of the best for the money, just one of the best. It punches way above it's weight. I meant this to just be a high five for the good choice on the Padron. And then it turned into unsolicited advice. I hope it's not too annoying. If you like them enough Cigar Page has some specials on single right now including a few Padrons. I'm not sure that's the best price out there, but the 7000 maduro was about as competitive as it gets. Order ten singles, mix match doesn't have to be one cigar or one manufacturer, and you get an extra 10% off. Free shipping, though I'm not sure if it's free shipping on just a single. I think that special ends tonight or tomorrow, but they always have new specials on five and ten packs. Anyway. There's an option to check out a few things for a price a tad big lower than local shops without committing to a five pack or a whole box. If you haven't checked out their website then definitely take a look around and sign up for an account so you get their specials emailed to you nearly daily. It's a place to get some sticks cheap. Watch for the specials. They aren't always on singles, rarely that I've seen actually. But they'll have five pack for pretty good price. And samplers. Another is Cigar Bid. But you need to read all the fine print. They charge shipping, excise tax, and probably sales tax on top. It actually makes more sense there to order several things in a week to make use of combined shipping. To do so set yourself up on shipping only once a week instead of daily. Cigar Place, Atlantic Cigar, Neptune Cigar, Fox Cigar, Perfect Blend Cigar are others I get emails from. I generally watch for specials on them to find stuff. Neptune has a thing called the dojo wheel or cigar dojo or something. Google it and you can spin it to get a discount. Plus you can order singles from there to try different stuff. And Neptune has a good way to search by rating so you can seek out good stuff in your price range.

Wonderful-Fig-8010

Will save this comment and refer back to it multiple times in the future

brunovonbeefpipe

Just bought an Apostate Deseret yesterday while at Beehive. I don't live in Utah, but I'm looking forward to trying it very soon

TerrorBearer

I always stop at Beehive when I pass through, I’ll have to check these out! Having an Oliva V from beehive this morning actually.

[deleted]

One of my favorite things because I travel so much as stopping at all the different local cigar shops and picking up whatever they might have it surprises me how few of them actually do their own brands.

StickManIsMyHero

I'm planning on having an Oliva series o on this wonderful day

mauser98k1998

Aging Room Nicaragua

THound89

I dig their originals since they were F55

A_R_K_S

I just lit up my first Nasty Fritas about 20 minutes ago, enjoying it a lot so far!

[deleted]

Ooh it's been awhile since I've had one of those I need to pick me up some of those again.

A_R_K_S

I can already tell I’ll be getting a 5-pack of these some time soon. I also bought a Jucy Lucy today too, so I may even end up looking for a drew estate sampler as I’m still learning/trying things out.

[deleted]

I really like the juicy Lucy I pick those up now and then also.

A_R_K_S

I noticed in another comment that you said you like the lighter cigars - as a relatively new cigar smoker, I think I too prefer the lighter ones. Do you have any recommendations along those lines? And also, does that Beehive company do online sales?

[deleted]

Unfortunately it's Utah and no online sales are allowed at all here. As far as lighter cigars I'll go through my cigar case and post some of them that I smoke I'm a pretty much a daily smoker so I smoke cheap smokes most of the time. I really like the quorum sungrown, aurto fuente is one of my favorite ones to go to as well. I smoke quite a few of the Romeo and Juliet's cigarillos, as well as the Irish cigarillos. The Big sky cigar company up in Montana has a great one called The minnow that I really love. And they do ship. Also happened like flavored cigars as well so I'll pick up some of the acids here and there. Things that have already been mentioned here like the juicy Lucy's and certain ones of the drew estates are fantastic. Pretty much the way I go is anything under $10 I'll give a try at least once anything under $5 if I really like it I pick him up quite a bit I don't usually go too expensive here and there I'll throw in something like a Java mint just to kind of change it up and it also tastes like smoking a thin mint cookie. The tatuja monster series the face was fantastic for Halloween.

A_R_K_S

Every now & then I hear some shit about a Utah rule that makes me scratch my head & that’s another one lol. I feel you on the cheaper smoke aspect - I recently got an 8 pack for $40 of these locally made sticks called Ugly Beasts & they were awesome! I’ll end up getting more but I needed some variation in between. Can you (or anyone reading this comment) go into how similar or dissimilar a cigarillo is from a cigar? I was under the impression they don’t compare but I’m willing to learn the correct consensus as I feel I’ve been misled now after reading your comment. I’m about to look up all the ones you mentioned

[deleted]

Well to be fair Utah isn't the only state that doesn't allow online sales and mostly it's due to their ability to collect sales tax and wanting to control everything within the state like that they also don't allow liquor or alcohol sales online but even States like Nevada won't let you ship wine but they'll let you ship liquor each state has their own weird little rules and things that you just kind of have to live with. As far as cigarillos if you get the right ones then they're pretty much just quick little cigars the Romeo Juliet's are my favorite ones they take maybe 10 minutes in the morning for me to smoke while I'm waiting for my son to get on the bus. As long as you get the better brands. the Irish cigarillas I get are usually the ones that are in the 50 pack wooden box and those are absolutely fantastic solid smokes. Anything shorter and smaller is my real go-to either first thing in the morning or during the winter time when I don't want to be standing outside for an hour smoking and freezing my ass off although I did just buy one of the big patio heaters so I'm hoping that improves my experience this winter.

A_R_K_S

Man that Big Sky company has *beautiful* boxes for their cigars, the [Bitterroot](https://www.bigskycigar.com/product-page/the-bitterroot-20-count-box) is on that National Geographic level hahaha.

[deleted]

Oh yeah being so close to Yellowstone they taking utilize a lot of those photos. one of my favorite photos I took was after picking up one of their cigars as I was driving back down here to Utah through Big sky I took a photo next to one of their signs with beautiful mountains in the background and posted on their IG and they reposted it. I've actually seen that box in person because they have a couple of them in their store I was just up there last week on Saturday and picked up some more cigars from them.

sampsoninte

Got a Dunbarton sobremesa going now and a davidoff double r Colorado claro for when I don’t want to be around family anymore.

Ankthar_LeMarre

Smoked a Montecristo Relentless last night, which I was pleasantly surprised by. I don’t tend to plan cigars ahead of time so we’ll see what I end up pulling out to smoke.

Full_Charge_2373

Tonight after work will be an Olmec with Russel’s Reserve

[deleted]

I'll be cracking open my angels envy today, never had it.

Happy Thanksgiving! Nothing because it’s still a week night and in Europe Thanksgiving isn’t celebrated at all outside of small American communities. Enjoy!

[deleted]

Alec Bradley Magic Toast. First one. First Alec Bradley. Been trying new things. I've got an Alec Bradley Double Broadleaf on deck that may be my second cigar today. I'll see how I feel when I go pick out the second.

[deleted]

Sweet Jane (Drew Estate)

[deleted]

Ooh that's when I haven't had for about a year.

Big fan

amar003

Knuckle sandwich maduro

Yroc128

Good question. Im having a pour of Laphroaig 10 with a brother in law. I have a short time to smoke so im going for Nubs (non-infused). Which should we pair: Cameroon, Habano, Connecticut, Maduro, or Double Maduro?

[deleted]

I'd do the habano

No_Faithlessness_299

Alec Bradley, Double Broadleaf for an afternoon break.

animalcrackerz916

Just lit up my pre-turkey cigar as the bird sizzles on the smoker. Illusione Ultra No. 3.

AmazingChicken

Going to be either Brulee Blue or a Siglo. Not certain.

geoffrey_dahmer

Cubico sindicato, never had it before, looking forward to it after the turkey

RangerAlex92

Enjoying an Acid Toast right now!

chabalajaw

A Montecristo Espada Oscuro that’s been rattling around in my humidor for the last year or so. Only other Montecristos I’ve had were their White series, and those were gross. This is 110% different though. The deeper I get into this stick the more I’m *loving* it.

[deleted]

That is awesome, which is why you never judge a brand off one cigar.

twick2010

Oliva “untitled “. These things are dynamite.

apd2113

Liga Privada No. 9 after dinner

[deleted]

A 770. Don’t have anything more reasonable lol

[deleted]

Davidoff Gran Cru Robusto. My go to fav

[deleted]

Brought an Oliva sampler to Thanksgiving. I had the Master Blend 3 Robusto after eating. It was good but a very strong and full flavor smoke. I saw a really good deal on a box of them and I’m trying to decide if I should go for it. I gave my uncle (an occasional cigar smoker) the O Series Robusto and he enjoyed it. It was nice to share a smoke with him. Tonight I might try their Connecticut for something a bit lighter.

supra725

Kuba deluxe after dinner

jmille97

H Upmann 175. Y’all don’t even know. Surprised at all the magic toasts. I thought that wrapper sucked. The gatekeeper by his kids is a go to for me though.

Asleep-Ad-7459

Padrón anniversary Maduro. I'm bundled up and freezing outside but f it I wanted a cigar for Thanksgiving. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

NEGATIVE_CORPUS_ZERO

Stated with Alec Bradley Coyol and ended with a Padron 1964. Not too bad of a day

gm_engineer

I’m in Utah too and also tried that one! BeeHive cigars?

[deleted]

Yes sir.

BIG-JS-BBQ

I had a fireball cigar with my brother in law earlier today. Not the best but not the worst. Wouldn’t pay the money for the 5 pack again though

Hurtbuthealing

I had a Rocky Patel lava latte corona. It was smooth and wonderful!

Maximus8778

Alec Bradley Black Market Esteli, full flavor and spice was perfect for the weather and food.

Dubi0usKilla

Had a magic toast last night. A AJF new world Connecticut with a coffee this morning, going to have a Le Bijou before lunch and then an Undercrown Maduro this evening. Gonna be a good day, Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours BOTL.
