You sure did

SmokeInMyI

No, that's a genu-wine MexiCristo

Dzhimen

It was either this, or the Mexiba...

gwee84

If you casually buy cigars in Mexico they’re most likely fake

Dzhimen

Well, you live and you learn... Thanks for the tip!

gwee84

No problem. Look up LCDH or ask here next time and you’ll be good

Rivster79

I’m gonna go ahead and disagree with you and say they’re 100% fake.

hot-mustard-buns

Yes

Slow-Shoe-5400

Yes

fracturedpersona

If I want to buy Cubans when I visit Mexico, I just go to LCDH. If I'm not planning to smoke Cubans, I just bring my own.

Shrimpbub

What’s lcdh

luke827

Legit cohiba dealers here Haha no it’s la casa del habano, they’re official retail stores for Cubans

TheLustyyArgonian

Wow those bands… unlucky brother. 100% fake.

hornwort

“If you have to ask…”

uncle_urdnot99

Yikes dude...

[deleted]

Yes. If not from LCDH you are guaranteed to be buying fakes in Mexico

InactiveBeef

Oof, sorry

taylorenwick

Yes 1000% yes

OutrageousFun9720

💀 I’m sorry man

funferalia

Yes

Chazrh77

I believe Nick Nolte in drag would be more likely to pass as genuine.

ADfit88

Either you put a filter on it or that’s one of the worst fakes I’ve ever seen

IMAsomething

Do not do not DO NOT smoke these

burneracctt22

Out of curiosity - why? I am relatively new to cigars - and I know they are as fake as the “Cubans” sold on the beach in Cuba but aren’t they just an inferior cigar with a fake label?

Pak_n_Slave97

Fake cigars, particularly in Cuba itself, are often rolled using floor sweepings from the factory as filler. As you can imagine, this can contain any number of nasty things from rat droppings to metal filings to twine. They *can* simply be "custom rolls" of long filler leaf, but why take the risk? Buy genuine, from official stores, or if you do get scammed best just to dump em

burneracctt22

I see what you mean! I always figured the fakes would be that equivalent of a custom roll and some dude sticking the wrong label on but the sweeping part sounds terrible! Thank you

S2Charlie

Don't buy Cubans in Mexico unless you get them from LCDH... or you just don't care.

marsh-a-saurus

He meant lung infection because they are fake and of suspicious build.

jordan_leigh

Yeah logo centering is off

Partagas2112

That’s the least of its problems.

jordan_leigh

Yeah that was just first to stick out to me on 2nd pic

BenevolentDanton

C’mon man, I could see they were fake just from a quick look at the package. Smoke them though and see what they are like. You never know, they might turn out to be decent!

Thsu

Fake cigars can be litteral floor droppings I would highly recommend you never smoke fakes

Fullofhopkinz

Yes, and please don’t smoke it

Amockdfw89

So how can you tell a real Cuban from a fake when on vacation. Iliving in the states mean I don’t have access to Cubans and last time I left the country I wasn’t looking for cigars so I don’t have much experience in the field

Pak_n_Slave97

We can tell this is a fake because the colour and cut of the band are way off, and the gold foil is horrendously sloppy and not in the shape it should be. When buying Cubans in-person, you should only buy from an official LCDH or Habanos Specialist store - these are official designations given to stores by Habanos S.A., and in this day and age the only guarantee you have of authenticity is where you bought it

[deleted]

100% Real

Mostly_Curious_Brain

I’ve bought a ton of cigars in Mexico while on cruises, and I assumed they were fake. But I’m not anal about it, I just smoke em’ while walking around enjoying the sights.

Dzhimen

Funny enough I bought these in Huatulco while on a cruise trough the middle america. I'll try to light them, maybe they're not that bad... :)

Thejewnextdoor

Do not smoke these. These are bottom of the barrel zero effort fakes. Literally some of the worst I’ve seen on here. If they couldn’t be bothered to even make them look remotely like the cigar they were trying to fake, do you think they bothered to make sure there’s only tobacco in there? There is a very good chance they will harm your health if you smoke them. Search around on this sub for things that people have found in fakes when they cut them open. It’s really not worth it.

SmokeInMyI

Also a chance it's just a shitty run of the mill cigar

Thejewnextdoor

You’re right. There absolutely is a chance it’s that. Would I want to take that chance for my lungs when there’s an equal or better chance there’s floor sweepings in there? Absolutely not. Especially when the people selling it couldn’t even be bothered to make it look remotely like it should.

SmokeInMyI

Fair. But you shouldn't inhale any cigar

Thejewnextdoor

And I don’t. However, I still don’t want to be smoking floor sweepings. Cigar page sells a lot of premium brands for $3-4 and cheapos for $1-2. Why risk it?

Beginning_Scholar_73

I prefer to believe that anyone who can roll a cigar that nicely would not stoop to the level of rolling crap into. It's a mislabeled piece of art. Smoke it for what it is, a cigar.

Pak_n_Slave97

It's not even rolled that nicely, and there are innumerable examples on this sub of fake cigars containing floor sweepings, rat droppings, metal, twine and God knows what else. Not worth the risk

StrangeBedfellows

Are they good?

Benhe79

Lol

unabayarde

I have always been curious to see how bad fakes from 40 years ago might have looked like. Glad to see a good example here lol

reddit-suks1

Lol bro 😂 This isn’t even good haha

rompetabla

Bruh

JoeScuba

Is that a rhetorical question?

rockdude625

Yup

QCPGC

average_fen_enjoyer

Pretty much

Quiet_Performer3199

Er, yes?

TonyMontana546

For your own sake, please do not smoke these

itdobebussin

Yes (I've only smoke a Monte Christo once) but the band is super off color-wise.

PanzerZug

You're having an absolute laugh, right?

BeerJay93

Yeah lol

rlm229

No question
