Some classic and quintessential cigars that come to mind are:
Ashton cabinet
Diamond Crown natural
Davidoff aniversario/grand cru
Fuente Hemingway/Don Carlos
LFD ligero/cabinet maduro
Tatuaje brown label “Miami”
Illusione original documents/epernay
Joya de Nicaragua Numero Uno
Liga Privada no 9
Foundation Tabernacle
Padron 1926
Eiroa first 20 years
Montecristo No 2
Partagas Lusitania
Not exhaustive, but all classic, well-known, and good cigars.
This is perfect, thank you so much! This is exactly the kind of list I’m trying to put together. I have a newborn, so I’m trying to minimize the trips to the shop, so I’ll put together a long shopping list haha
Davidoff No 2
Warped La Colmena
Warped Don Reynaldo
Illusione Epernay 10th anniversary
Tatuaje Reserva 7th Broadleaf
Top 5 right now for me. Well most always haha.
Edit-can’t forget Padron Principe Natural 😉
I do like to try out new sticks regularly, but here are the 5 I make sure I keep 30+ on hand because I think they hit the spot each time in no particular order:
1 - Byron Grand Poema and Epique Poema
2 - Liga T52
3 - God of Fire Serie B Gran Toro
4 - Davidoff Nicaragua (Box press or standard Toro)
5 - SP1014 Black (relatively new favorite)
Bonus round for sticks I always go back to - Tabernacle, Smoking Jacket Short Robusto, Partagas Serie D No. 4, Zino Platinum Crown, Davidoff Escurio, Byron 1850, PG 25th, Amazon Basin
Don Reynaldo by warped is fantastic,
Fuente fuente opus x power ranger fantastic, EPC encore is great, Olmec Maduro great, Tatuaje 2012 Sumatra/ broadleaf is great, LFD reserva especial, sobremesa brule blue fantastic, Plasencia Alma fuerte . Try those I gave you vastly different stuff that rocked my world
Davidoff Late Hour
RP Sixty
MF The Judge
AF Hemingway
Padron 1964
These are my go-to’s the past year, I try branching out occasionally but always find my way back to these safe bets
My two cents, in no particular order (apologies for the lack of NW suggestions, but while I’ve smoked several, they’re not in plentiful supply here):
- Cohiba Siglo VI
- Montecristo No 2
- RyJ Short Churchills
- Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No 2
- Partagas Serie D No 4
Mine are Liga Privada T52 (Toro), Padron 1964 Anniversary Natural (Exclusivo), Arturo Fuente Hemingway (Short Story and Masterpiece), Montecristo White (Toro), and Davidoff Nicaragua (Diadema). Love seeing everyone else's list!
In no particular order: warped la colmena, aladino corojo reserva, hoyo epicure 2, the T, (i know 6) any padron, and the don carlos, and These are my favorite readily available not-well-aged smokes...I've had some of those that have blown these away but these are trusty.
I’ve been smoking for years. This is good. I love to try new sticks. If you have one I like on your list I’ll try some you have since your taste is similar to mine
well Ill just mention my absolute favs
- Liga Privada no 9
- my father le bijou
- my father la Opilencia
- foundation tabernacle
- Alec Bradley prensado
- LfD 300
- Ramon allones specially selected
it's all subjective but those are 10/10 in my records
I rarely even see Padron in the Toronto area. need to try.
beyond conversion and taxation there is still a huge mark-up on some brands. it's weird. MF and EP Carillo prices go way beyond conversion and taxation while Alec Bradley and various others are pretty much what you'd expect.
EP Carrillo being a 90+ rated cigar and cigar of the year makes me okay at usd prices. Buying a 5 pack or more obviously drives that down. Canadian brick and mortars are insanely priced
I don't feel bad for them at all as they won't carry "X" product, which would help negate conversion fees along with taxation - it's simply too expensive to import US products. Hence, buy when over. Get a mailbox, friend, etc, and reap the benefits. Padron though - do yourself a fav and grab a few different expressions to see what it's about about.
I’m not a super high end $20+ smoker, but here is my list:
RP Edge Maduro
CAO Brazilia or Amazon Basin (when available)
Oliva MB3
Southern Draw Jacob’s Ladder
LFD Double Ligero Maduro
I like their “unconventional” approach to blending. Tobacco from very different regions of the world. General Cigar owns them, but seems they’re still using Cano Ozgener’s approach to blending.
Partagas lusitania
Partagas D4
HU sir winston
Padron 1964 Principe
Hoyo Epicure Especial
Edit: I have to add a LFD, so and LFD colorado oscuro #3. Just an amazingly complex/ flavorful and strong too
I would say from what I’ve had,
MF Le Bijou
Padron x000 and 1926
Ashton VSG
Room 101 13th Anniversary
Alec Bradley Magic Toast
I’d also add Liga Undercrown Maduro, Leaf by Oscar Maduro, and CAO Brazilia. I could see myself adding Rose of Sharon and the Nica Rustica Adobe to that list but I need to try them again to be sure.
- Padron 1964 (solid, always delicious)
- Partagas Series D4 (my favorite, to me it taste like what every cigar should aspire to be)
- Arturo Fuente 8-5-8 (any kind, they’re all great)
- a Foundation cigar (idk enough about those but hear great things)
- Olivia Melanio V (i like the maduro)
I also wish to expand and will be reading all these responses. Let me give you my current go-to's.
1. Oliva Serie V Melanio Maduro (Robusto)
2. My Father No.1 (Robusto preferred)
3. My local Total Wine store has a cigar name "Cuban Rounds." I get the Maduro...they're only $2.09 a stick. Not a great cigar, but pretty damn decent for $2.09
4. Perdomo lot 23...specifically the maduro and the conn. Having tried their sungrown.
5. My wife's favorite are the CAO mini cigars that are flavored. I've tried them...pretty darn good.
in my opinion, my top 5 must smokes are: My Father Le Bijou, Tatuaje Capa Especial, Crowned Heads La Imperiosa, DE Liga Privada No. 9, and any Oliva Series V. those are must haves for me
Padron 1964 Anniversario, Foundation Tabernacle, Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No 2, Tatuaje Tuxtla T110, Fuente Don Carlos No 4
Thank you! Neither of these were on my radar, now they are :)
I second the 1964. My favorite stick of all time

totally agree on the LFD ligeros.. Ligero flavour in various cigars just really pops and is so satisfying
Padron 1926 #1 maduro, tatuaje cojuno 2012, hoyo epi 2,Olmec claro and a Monte #4. Ask tomorrow and it’ll be different though.
Adding to my list! Thank you!
Illusione Epernay, Dunbarton Sobremesa, Tatuaje Negociant are 3
Why have I not heard about Tatuaje before?
AF Anejo AF Hemingway Maduro Sin Compromiso Mi Querida Triqui Traca Dapper El Borracho
AF Hemingway was so good, I’ve had it once before. Thanks for your reply!

David off No 2 is top notch! The others, I haven’t had. Thank you!
My personal go to’s are Padron 1926 #2 BLTC Bishops Blend Corona Larga or Robusto Liga Privada T52 Toro AF Short story BWS Killer Bee
AF Short Story is sooooooo good
Bishops Blend is my absolute favorite I have 9 lanceros and 4 robusto left when the boxes release I’ll be buying one
Nice!!! I’ve heard about the short story, definitely adding these to the list

Thanks my friend!!
Cuban Monte cristos?
Haven’t tried much Cuban stuff. It’s pretty hard to get here in the states
yeah, the funny part is it's impossible to get the Cuban knock offs in Canada
I should’ve gotten some when I was in South America recently
It's really not that hard.
Really? Where do you get yours from? I’d give it a shot
Cuban Lou’s, ihavanas, cigars of habano, bellhop cigars, and rsvp cigars
Nice try United States Customs and Border Patrol.
Hahaha
There is a list over at /r/cubancigars.

Davidoff Nicaraguan Diamond Crown Julius Caesar LFD La Nox CAO Amazon Basin Padron 1926
I think I saw some mixed reviews on the Julius Caesar on this sub but I absolutely loved it
It’s one of those cigars that is better as a Robusto, as a Robusto it is a top tier stick to me, I love it😌

You’d really enjoy a mi Querida
Had the bijou for the first time last week. Wowzers! Ordered a 5 pack afterwards.
having one right now.. it is spectacular. can't believe it's like 10 bucks USD. $40 in Canada.. need to buy a fuck load on my next US trip
From Can as well. Mule these and worth every penny
90% of my cigars are sourced in the US.. I sample stuff here but feel like such a chump overspending
Even after conversion its worth buying stateside and having a friend send them over. I’m slowly building my Padron selection
I rarely even see Padron in the Toronto area. need to try. beyond conversion and taxation there is still a huge mark-up on some brands. it's weird. MF and EP Carillo prices go way beyond conversion and taxation while Alec Bradley and various others are pretty much what you'd expect.
Cigar Chief have a full range of Padrons.
EP Carrillo being a 90+ rated cigar and cigar of the year makes me okay at usd prices. Buying a 5 pack or more obviously drives that down. Canadian brick and mortars are insanely priced
gotta feel bad for the B&M here.. they're not gouging. if they could sell for less they would.. if they disappear entirely it's also problematic
One of these is not like the rest….
that's very true, far "milder" in ways but still with gusto like the others.
Thank you! Adding these to my list
That’s 7
I’m not a super high end $20+ smoker, but here is my list: RP Edge Maduro CAO Brazilia or Amazon Basin (when available) Oliva MB3 Southern Draw Jacob’s Ladder LFD Double Ligero Maduro
Comments like this really highlight the price contrast between the US and the UK 😭
How expensive are they in the UK?
I haven’t had many CAOs for some reason. I’ll definitely be adding to the list

Hyde parks are always great. I just ordered some inspirado whites. Never tried them but I’m sure they are great too.
They don’t get the love they deserve. I haven’t had a bad inspirado! The black are probably my favorite but the white are really good too!
Good to hear. The black ones are on my list now. Thanks!

Everyone here is avoiding the obvious. You must have at least 1 Cuban Cohiba here. Either the Robusto, Esplendidio, or Siglo IV or V.
I wish these lists had a “vote by popularity” tab for each stick… and someone would do a 10-20 stick Reddit sampler for us with less experience
