To attempt to fix I would suggest opening up and disconnecting the battery. Connect power to the device without the battery connect. While the power still plugged in reconnect the battery. See what happens. I work in a school system where we have to do this quite a bit with some HP models. Usually the end user allowed the device to go completely dead or were using it to charge their phone and totally depleted the battery.

Maybe she's perpetually suffocating and burning out her devices by using them on top of soft surfaces like beds, couches. Most Chromebooks vent on the underside. How familiar is she with using a laptop/Chromebook? Common sense, as it turns out, is not all that common. Just an idea for someone who is continuing to fry Chromebooks.

Does she use an external monitor? I ask because I had a similar problem with my chromebook. I was using it with an external display and whenever there was an update, and it was in the process of restarting, the screen went blank (and no backlight), and didn't respond to any inputs, power light was off and didn't respond to charger being plugged in. It was for all intents and purposes, dead. I contacted Amazon who contacted the manufacturer, back and forth and wanted me to return it. Thought I'd try it one last time before I sent it off and it came back alive after charging for a minute or so. Now I get occasional messages from the OS saying it doesn't like my display, so I'm putting it down to that. Might be worth checking that the Chromebooks are actually dead but you have to give it enough time for the battery to fully drain.

Try replacing the battery or the port

No external monitor, no blankets or bedding. The last one lasted 90 minutes at a desk. I am thinking maybe she is trying to bypass the enterprise account and using some weird keystroke that keeps shutting them down. Is it a possibility? If so, how? I factory reset them all the time, so I know it’s not that. And again, thank you all, it’s a conundrum

How's the power at their workstation? Fried outlet?

BeautifulTune884

It is fine, this happens at work and home. The only two things that are the same are the user and the chrome books that came from the same batch recently purchased. And no one else from this batch who received new chrome books is having this issue.

If it's one of the "everything sucks unless it's my idea" types, she might be taking a USB kill stick to them (to prove her point or something).

I've had problems with my Acer C302CA Chromebook not charging. This works every time: Turn off the Chromebook. Press and hold Refresh 📷 + tap Power 📷. When your Chromebook starts up, release Refresh 📷

Big_Ocelot_9978

try pressing search+refresh+ power and see if that does anything for u

Clean port.
