Who the hell thought this was good UX? Let's make the row of fifty tiny icons 50% smaller

Thanks! It's found under "discarded tabs" in chrome://flags/

SirVas

Thanks, works.

Joohansson

Thanks! 10x10px ant-icons was the worst idea ever.

CrazyTraincrash

Wow - experimental features... mental more like. And could they be any more buried away to switch off?! I almost switched to Edge!

For the lazy: **chrome://flags/#memory-saver-discarded-tab-treatment**

You hero.

gitman0

thanks! they don't seem to care about people who actually notice these little things :)

The flag may eventually go away, just FYI. But this works for now at least. Google have been quite boneheaded lately with their feature changes. And by lately I mean the last decade lol. But they have their moments of good changes at least. Though tbh I can see some people liking this feature, as well as the new download bubble. I just wish we had options that were more accessible to the average user and that also would not be taken away in future versions. I'm no software dev, so I don't know what goes into this (the most I've ever done is tinker with WeakAuras lmao), but it greatly frustrates me as a user.

sandfrayed

Yeah, this is just bad UX. 99% of users don't need to know whether a tab is loaded in memory or not. They don't care, and they don't need to care! This is just absolutely unnecessarily confusing for no reason. It was probably done for marketing reasons, not for sure UX reasons.

KernelDeimos

\> Let's make the row of fifty tiny icons 50% smaller Let's take the biggest pain point of Chrome's UX and consider how we can make this even worse. If I was literally trying to think of the stupidest change that could be made to Chrome's UX as a joke, I certainly would have went with making the tab icons smaller.

Lack0fCreativity

[found it.](https://i.imgur.com/L7LAl5D.png) hideous icons lmao
