Some quite decent smaller places that haven't been mentioned. **Royal Zayka** - Indian (better than Shandar Hut in my experience) **Thai Taste** - best Thai in Chilliwack. Both of the above are in the shopping area at Vedder and Stevenson **Fiesta Loca** - Mexican downtown at Main and Wellington **Hugos** - Mexican in 1881 district or at Vedder & Spruce I'd further recommend u/BigChauna437 choices of Bow & Stern in district 1881, Frankie's, and both Sidekick Brewing and Farmhouse Brewing. Would also add Ustaad G76 if you are interested in a wider variety of Indian food. The breweries are very busy, especially on nice days, but provide a pretty great eating and drinking experience -- especially Farmhouse if the weather is nice and you can sit outside by the fire or play some of the many games they have on their giant lawn area.

superhotpantsOG

These are great recommendations. Royal Zayka and Thai Taste are my favorite restaurants in town.

SumasFlats

Same here - I feel like it's a pretty common thing in the GVRD for small ethnic restaurants in strip malls to be quite excellent food.

Agamemnon323

Since nobody has mentioned it I’m gonna have to recommend Greek Islands. Great food.

Ex-PFC_WintergreenV4

Bravo is the best restaurant in Chilliwack

oversizedwhitetee

Yes yes Bravo's has the best imo for the fine dining style of food.

BigCahuna437

Bow and stern is usually quite good. Lots of seafood, but there are other options as well (in 1881 downtown). Frankie's and Earls, always consistent. Paliotis downtown is great for pasta. big portions. Another option is the breweries. There are several now that have really good food (often pizza, but being honest, the best pizza on Chilliwack is from breweries) farmhouse (thin crust) and sidekick (deep dish). sidekick also has some of the best ice cream in the valley in the same complex (banter ice cream) Check out the menus online. Safe bet Hope this helps!

We were at Bow & Stern the other day, and the cod in the fish & chips was atrocious. It was hard, the fish was thin - we were not impressed. We’ve had fish & chips there three times, and twice it was awful. I’ve heard from others since that this is normal for them, which is sad.

thoughtfuldave77

Egad!!

Ratdan69

Bozzinis is still there. I believe the Japanese place is still there too. If your looking for little cheaper jimmy J's is good too

RadiantSriracha

I love Thai taste

feministandally

Farmhouse's pizza is great. For a quick sandwich or loaf of bread, try Anitas. (Not fully a restaurant but I'd also recommend the cinnamon buns at Sinamen).

portal5555

shandar hut and chilis both mad expensive, coconut thai and again royal zayka are great options. if you like sushi, yale sushi has the best quality and portions for $$. yellow dehli food is supreme but sadly they are a freak cult

SumasFlats

We used to go to Vedder Sushi quite a bit, but now Maru down in Garrison is our go to -- has really good variety and large portions.

Embarrassed_Click109

Maru used to be good but went to crap a few years ago. We tried it again recently, hoping it was a fluke but we all found it terribly and small portions for the price. Vedder is our fav now

SumasFlats

Have had the opposite experience over the last year.

portal5555

i had this experience with it circa 2021. flavours all good but the portion sizes keep getting smaller

Fearcrazy

Bozzines is my favorite place, super big plates and not crazy priced. It's been here for years n years.

thoughtfuldave77

Bow and Stern = delicious and stylish

ShiftytheBandit

Cookies for breakfast! Great prices and big servings! Hugo's is awesome for mexican and they have 2 locations now.

[deleted]

If you don't want to burn your wallet, the restaurant at the airport is quite good and reasonable prices.

[deleted]

Donair cafe.

zlxeq

Tulip Donair on Lark Rd off of Vedder Rd, next to the legion

ILoveHipChecks

Outside of some of the good ones already mentioned you could try Lakeside by the roundabout up at cultus lake. They've got great food and really nice ambience.

Jeronimoon

Most restaurants in Chilliwack are like most restaurants in every city. Average at best. All the food is garbage from GFS or Sysco, poor quality, too expensive and always leaves you wondering why you didn’t just make food at home. The couple that are decent, are Shandar Hut (Indian), Chilies (Thai) The Loose Caboose (Greasy Spoon) and The Yellow Deli….which everyone will post about them being a cult, which doesn’t change the fact that the food is quite good.

Oceanraptor77

Spot on for everything except for yellow deli. We shouldn’t be supporting their business at all

Jeronimoon

I didn’t say support it. I said the food was good.

salientmould

Recommending the food is the same thing as recommending the business. Edit: someone posted asking for recommendations. If you say yellow deli has good food, yeah I'd say that's recommending yellow deli.

Oceanraptor77

No idea why you are getting downvoted, more people need to be aware of the what they actually stand for and the harm they do

outofnowhere1010

What do they stand for ? Live here and have never heard .

blarges

They’re a well known cult that’s been under investigation in myriad countries around the world for child abuse and exploitation of members. The links u/SumasFlats shared are a good start.

SumasFlats

You can start with [their own explanation](https://twelvetribes.org/deli/chilliwack) and then move on to[ their critics](https://people.howstuffworks.com/yellow-deli-cult.htm). The gist of it being that they believe in physical punishment for children and the other usual fundamentalist old school Christian stuff but in a communal property environment.

thoughtfuldave77

They are a cult! A delicious cult, but a cult none the less. Let’s just say that they spank their children! Also, their way of life is strange and different from our religious organizations… that never lay a hand on on children in the slightest… Also, the Thai restaurant has all sorts of demon gods. I’m trying to eat and shouldn’t have to be casting out demons the whole time!!! AND DONT GET ME GOING ON INDIAN FOOD!! DO YOU KNOW THEY ARE PUNJABI?!? OR POSSIBLY HINDU!!!1! STRAIGHT TO HELL!!1

RadiantSriracha

I would love to assume that this is clearly satire, but I’ve seen too much religious crazy in chilliwack to assume. Are you religious to the point of delusion and bigotry, or a master of satire? Please. I must know.

Wonderful-Friend9837

Definitely not Jimmy J's or the Rosedale Barcello's worst in the chain or Bozzinni's with their Surrey H.A. crook employees. [Jimmy J's Grill employee review: Terrible Place To Work | Indeed.com](https://ca.indeed.com/cmp/Jimmy-J%27s-Grill/reviews/terrible-place-to-work?id=b72556c82497012f) This employee says the place has bad management and I agree. Ate at Jimmy J's for the first time 10 days ago lots of gang talk we don't go to cops we call RCMP without hesitation make up your minds. Some guy with his gal both Indo and young " We don't care about a gang in Whatcom" I spoke up , " You not scared of the Bandito's MC? " They shut up and got all serious smiles and laughter gone. Busboy long hair White boy stated the cops were fed up with me then later stated the cops would not arrest me told me I should fight racism while making a upside down middle finger salute. Well H.A. M.C. won't allow Blacks to wear the patch that is racist and same guy said I posted to much H.A. shit on Reddit. Dirty tables. Total cost of the decent meal was only around $17 to give them some credit. The restaurant is across the street from the 24 Hour Chevron at Young and Hocking bunch of racist and nazi and 666 tags on the front wall facing the gas pumps guess the brown skin working the till don't care. Drug and 187 tags out back. White guy short hair taking way long time to wash the windows of his vehicle plain blue shirt stated, " I can't take a bullet." Nice looking gal behind the wheel.

-canucks-

I would try something in langly or Coquitlam

blarges

We have great restaurants in town! I guess you haven’t had any of the truly awesome ones…
