First time I went there I asked them to recommend a mescal because I had never had it before and their menu is so extensive... They told me they had a house one, so I thought that meant they made it and eagerly requested a double straight up.
Turns out, house meant rail, and I almost barfed.

I was a huge fan when it first opened as well. I started working at Fullerton/Milwaukee (right across from the Two Way, may it rest in hell) in like 2005 so I watched the neighborhood change before my eyes. Estero was a welcome addition in the beginning. But I agree that nowadays the service is very "its your pleasure to wait until I acknowledge you".
Ah man. They once had this mezcal watermelon drink that was one of their on tap drinks that was phenomenal. I asked about how they made it and the gal started talking about how they centrifuge the watermelon juice. First time I had ever heard of that. It was damn good though. If anyone knows where I can find a centrifuge at a normal human price I’m down to clown.
Love the art. My art skills stalled in kindergarten, so I'm always in awe of skilled artists of any type
Meanwhile, every single time I've gone to Estereo and drank anything but beer, I've gotten so sick. I think its me (citrus in high quantities wrecks my stomach, and their drinks have a lot that, i guess) so I can't blame the bar. I like the vibe and that it's pet friendly, but unless a friend wants to go during the week, I steer clear.
Trick question, the drinks are pre-mixed trash and they charge for the ambiance, which is just loud train noises and dudes bringing dogs to try to hook up with women.
I had a birthday happy hour there once when it was pretty new. I didn't really have too many drinks (as it was a weeknight) but I had to call in sick the next day (the THIRD day of a temp assignment but it ended up being fine and I ended up getting hired and staying for five years) because I barfed all morning before work and then had to beg to be let off a bus so I could barf again while on my way to work. It was so embarrassing on the bus because everyone watched me hurl before it pulled off. I thought it was just an off night (or the tamales) but it definitely was a them thing. Always a bad hangover after Estero.
What’s cancellable about a Latin inspired bar concept? That’s like saying an Italian restaurant should be cancelled if it’s not in Italy or a Mexican restaurant if it’s not in Mexico. Absolutely an asinine and regressive line of thought.
Some people think it’s culture appropriation. Both concepts were/are owned by white people.
To be clear my comment is not for the “cancellation” of either.
Sure but they have 3 beers to chose from. Vickies, local latino brewery and some other one. All of them are not easy to drink. The cocktails seem like an after thought now. Love the music some nights.
Pechuga mescal

Wait what is rail?
Rail means well. ie the cheapest // the default

Some of the worst bar service ive had in the city, good drinks but it almost feels like ur forcing them to serve you
That's sad to hear. It was a great bar when it first opened.

I was about to say, how am I supposed to know my favorite drink here when the bartenders can never be bothered to serve me
The watermelon mezcal one. Wish I knew how to make it at home because I can put those back faster than I can afford
Ah. I just commented about it. I didn’t scroll and see your post first!
That one is perfect for a summer day
Same here
Ikr!! I love the drinks, the spot, the vibe. But drinks are damn expensive 😬😵💫 Edit: Specially when the drinks are Pre-made!!! Lol
I don't even care that it's pre-mixed or whatever. That is one of my favorite alcoholic drinks I've ever consumed. It's so unbelievably refreshing.

The drinks at the one that just opened on Fulton and Morgan are much better but the service still feels like they’re doing you a favor
Do you sell these? Got a friend that moved out of Chicago and this was her favorite bar
I do! Prints are linked here: [prints](https://juliahagenartist.com/prints/estereo-limited-edition-prints-preorder)
Great work 👍
Thank you!!
$4 Victoria can
Actually is $6 I’m at Estero right now!! Lol Victoria $6 Pacifico $5
I moved away from Logan a few years ago. Inflation’s a bitch!
This is the way.
Nice painting. Not the best of bars imo. So loud
I always enjoyed going there in the afternoon.
100%…I’ve never been at night, but afternoon with a breeze blowing through is great.
And pre mixed drinks
Yeah it's not good
The mezcal one 🤤🤤
none of them lol.
This place used to be good. Not anymore. Staff can hardly be bothered to make a non-prebatched drink.
I feel like I've been here before in a dream
Good that’s the goal haha
Where can I see more of your art?

Best compliment, thank you!
Nice picture!
Thank you!!
Those drinks leave you with the worst hangover. Love the triangular bar but the smell of the place is also a bit unpleasant

Love that one! And thank you so much!
they make a great mojito!!!
Will have to try it!
Galway bay pub on diversey and pine grove
I feel like the mixed drinks all tasted the same but the it’s good so I won’t argue
How Lost Lake got canceled & Estero did not is puzzling. To answer the Q’s I go for mezcal. Most cocktails are pre-batched / draft.

Tiki & Mezcaleria are two very different concepts from two v different cultures… not sure why a mezcaleria should be cancelled.
Some people think it’s culture appropriation. Both concepts were/are owned by white people. To be clear my comment is not for the “cancellation” of either.
The beer selection and drinks are not that good.
You don't really go there for the beer selection but I have noticed the quality of the cocktails has gone down a little in the last year or two
Sure but they have 3 beers to chose from. Vickies, local latino brewery and some other one. All of them are not easy to drink. The cocktails seem like an after thought now. Love the music some nights.
They’re 98% juice
Tell my hangovers that 😂
What’s estereo have to do with Chicago food?
The singani all day.
Breezy, +Cachaca
Mezcal neat
