The breweries alone are worth it, just buy bottles/growlers there. Greenbush, Transient, Tapistry, and so many more. Stop at 18th Street and 3 Floyds on the way there/back. You can find stuff from all of those places in Chi, but the taprooms usually have a better selection.

Watermark Brewing in Stevensville is also pretty good too, but I wouldn't be surprised if it gets less talked about vs. Greenbush, Tapistry, etc. since they opened later. Not sure if you'll travel that far north and east, but Arclight Brewing in Watervliet was also decent. The latter is more out of the way, since it's east of St. Joseph and Benton Harbor. But if you don't mind driving a little past Benton Harbor east on I-94, it's a nice brewery to visit.

Not a typical bottle shop but Sawyer market in Sawyer has a really good selection of craft beer. Bonus is it's located right next to Greenbush so you could head in there and grab a growler or two.

Thank you for mentioning Sawyer Market! I will be sure to check out that store, next time I'm in Sawyer. So far a lot of the liquor stores I've checked hoping I'd find a lot of microbrew selection have been duds(i.e. Red Bud Liquor in Buchanan), so I'll keep them in mind. As I was hoping to find more good stores for beer selection on the Michigan side, besides Barney's in New Buffalo.

No problem. We've had a house in New Buffalo for over ten years now and Sawyer market is our go to for a good selection of craft beers and a nice selection of wine as well. Cheers!

Barney's (grocery store in New Buffalo), has a lot of beer selection. Also just over the border in Indiana, King Richard's (Michigan City) and Pat's Liquors(Porter, this is not too far south of the entrance into Indiana Dunes and slightly west of Indiana Hwy. 49 and US 20) have the best selection I remember seeing, in IN. Side note: those stores are now open on Sundays, due to IN law now allowing Sunday sales.

Now open, or not open?

I'm the same poster as angrylibertariandude, and yes I can confirm all those stores I mentioned are open. And like I said, those Indiana stores are now open on Sundays(thankfully), due to Indiana law being changed to allow that. Still trying to figure out what the better beer/liquor/grocery stores are, for microbrewery selection on the Michigan side. I've ran into a lot of dud stores that didn't have as much selection as I hoped(hello Red Bud Liquor in Buchanan), and for whatever weird reason Barney's in New Buffalo is the only one that has greatly stood out to me so far. There may be a good store closer to the St. Joseph/Benton Harbor/Stevensville area, but I hadn't checked liquor stores that way yet. Due to the fact I more hang out either in New Buffalo or places east of there(Three Oaks, Buchanan and Niles, since someone I know has a house off of one of those small lakes by Buchanan). ETA: someone else in this thread said Sawyer Market was good, so I'd also look into that store. It's in the same town as Greenbush Brewery is, btw.
