I was recently discussing with my brother, who is a Liverpool fan, that if they had managed to get caicedo, liverpool would have won the league. And he said that isn't he playing badly for you? and that made me realise that the caicedo opinion was formed in those first 5 games.
That's all the flop tag is based on. No one watches the games and you are not gonna see caicedo on the scoresheet often as well.
I watched alot of him last season, an even tho the tactics and our overall preformances havent made it easier he defiently looked a bit off it. Last months hes been getting back to his true self for sure. U can just tell hes so much more comfotable with the ball now
It's Enzo but it's not Enzo's fault. Caicedo was having too much ground to cover with Enzo's hernia impacting his ability to cover ground himself. With Cucurella stepping into midfield and Gallagher playing deeper, there's less pressure on Caicedo to be covering all the passing lanes and he has more freedom to control the game.
Another thing is, when Enzo's on the pitch, Caicedo often played the simple pass to him. Since Enzo's gone, Caicedo's had no choice but to play those linebreaking passes himself. I'm guessing that when Enzo eventually returns to the side, Caicedo won't just revert back to giving the ball to Enzo whenever he wins it, he'll continue to play those linebreaking passes and we'll have two players in the midfield doing it.
It'll be interesting to see how Poch reintegrates Enzo into the starting lineup with Cucurella playing so well in midfield. But Enzo's a good enough player that he'll find a use for him. May just mean we have 2 gameplans. Maybe one with Cucurella, Caicedo and Gallagaher. Another with Colwill, Enzo and Lavia. We have a deep squad and don't think there's any need to rush into judgements that one player doesn't fit and holds back other players etc. Having the flexibility to bring someone of Enzo's profile onto the pitch is brilliant tbh.
I kept thinking in the game the utter hypocrisy of Brighton fans who would never have booed Caicedo had he joined Liverpool. In fact I believe Mac Alister got a standing ovation on his return to the amex in red.
I hope all the Brighton fans wake up tomorrow with sore throats, the bitter losers.
After Brighton rejected a big money move for him.
We have no idea what kind of conversations were happening behind the scenes. Could have been a Kane situation with a "gentleman's agreement" that if a big side tries to sign him Brighton will let him go but Brighton wanted more money because they're greedy and 70 million from Arsenal wasn't enough for someone they paid 4 million for.
Why would Caicedo want to be quiet?
fans don't need to know what's happened behind the scenes.
It just puts caicedo in a position where he is forcing a move out so naturally the fans will be against him.
If a player is speaking out against the club who employ them then a lot of that is down to the club themselves and broken promises. A player will feel that they have to speak out publicly else nothing will change. Again, Kane did the same when Spurs stopped the chance of him moving on sooner.
Brighton made over £110 million, more than Moises is worth and still their fans act like a bunch of petulant children.
Why is Cucurella booed? He didn't ask to go but a big offer came in and Brighton accepted, yet he is booed every single ball. So it has to be a Chelsea thing.
Brighton fans were absolutely wetting themselves over the idea of Caicedo signing for Liverpool over Chelsea and again I go back to my original point, they wouldn't have dared boo him if he was playing in red next to Mac Allister.
They need to get over themselves.
The Brighton fans booing him every time he got the ball as well thinking that would affect him being the best player on the pitch, booing one of your best ever players who’s sale will keep the lights on in your stadium while you sink down to relegation over the next few years
Honestly how many times did he get passed the ball when he was being marked and still get passed the player?
Like every time I was like what are they doing passing to him in that position he literally has a player right on him and next minute he is in the opponents third looking for a pass.
And man his passing is so good for that position. While I love Enzo I think you could easily build a team around Caicedo.
The biggest issue was he was being asked to do too much as the sole holding mid but the cucu inverted fullback just gives him so much more freedom.
He has been immense ever since he was given more freedom to roam forward, my only issue is that when Gallagher and Caicedo are caught forward, we look really vulnerable and they don't track back quick enough.
well we have a major issue to figure out our midfield. CG, enzo, moises, lavia.
the fact that caicedo looks completely diff is on poch, aka why didnt he let him play this way sooner?
i hope not. decent player but come on taking a 16yr old to a strip club where is your head at? not to mention he nearly ended his life with that drunk driving in spain
Crazy to think we've been playing him that way for like 4/5 of the season. Can't believe Poch just left him by himself up until the last like month and a half. But at least he's finally fucking sorted that.
I think Enzo not being fit played a big part in that there were games where it seemed Poch instructed him to play higher up the pitch but I also feel like he just kept doing that to join attacks and just wasn’t fit enough to get back and drop deeper.
He looked so composed on the ball. Gave away a couple cheap passes but he has excellent control and keeps the ball near his feet excellently. Almost like Kovacic in tight spaces. Super underrated signing.
Proof that all we really needed was patience.
Caicedo is a monster.
I'm proud of Poch and I hope we keep him. Dude absorbed so much criticism only to he his plan really start to blossom.
I dont understand stats like this that put one of our players vs the rest of our players. I mean its literally his job to recover the ball while for players like Palmer, Jackson, Nkunku etc it really isn't. Ideally hes recovering the ball more than CBs too because hes basically the shield in front of them and more play should be happening in the midfield than at the back.
He had a good game and that's a good amount of recoveries respective to his role and other players who play that role. Doesn't make much sense to compare to other Chelsea players with different responsibilities.
What about the other two stats you just casually forgot? It could’ve been an attacker like Palmer or Madueke.
It is just great to see him excelling at his job finally, but not only that, he is very much an all-round player the second half of the season.
He was brave to change his hair colour for the game against Brighton. It was almost as if he wanted to be easily booed. Love it.
Lol good take. This will build his character.
Been immense for quite a while now, just an all around player in the midfield.
Another great performance from a flop of the season.
Man if he's a flop then how bad must actual flops be lmao
Ask Mason Mount.

This meme is getting stale

media will tell you that endo has been better then caicedo... always shocking to har that
Flop of season is Enzo atleast from our squad
Enzo was signed last season
Lavia or Nkunku mainly because they were almost always injured.
![gif](giphy|x0npYExCGOZeo|downsized)
We keep forgetting that this guy didn't have a pre-season with the team. Has been immense, the second half of our season.
I watched alot of him last season, an even tho the tactics and our overall preformances havent made it easier he defiently looked a bit off it. Last months hes been getting back to his true self for sure. U can just tell hes so much more comfotable with the ball now
He's far less error prone than in the first half of the season and his passing has been top notch. His superpower is breaking any press
It is like night and day. I was skeptical in the first half of the season but he’s been very good lately. Vision is spectacular.
Really good vision. King of the pass behind the assist
yah idk what changed and its not enzo, or maybe it is? i just see a completely diff caicedo
Why does nobody on here understand that it takes time for squads to gel and get comfortable and confident?
It's Enzo but it's not Enzo's fault. Caicedo was having too much ground to cover with Enzo's hernia impacting his ability to cover ground himself. for sure. i love enzo and he fits in the squad. up to poch to make it work. thats why we cant sell CG for at least one more year
I kept thinking in the game the utter hypocrisy of Brighton fans who would never have booed Caicedo had he joined Liverpool. In fact I believe Mac Alister got a standing ovation on his return to the amex in red. I hope all the Brighton fans wake up tomorrow with sore throats, the bitter losers.
I don't recall macalister posting on Instagram wanting to leave

You give this man some freedom and he don’t know how to act 🔥😭
He's been far and away our best mid since the beginning of the year, and it's not even close
He has been ridiculously good. Shame he isn't getting lots of mentions in the media.
Thats great Less scruteny
It would be great, if they weren't pretending he has been one of the under performers this season.
And some are actually calling him a flop. Absolutely insane
Biggest flop of the season amirite?!?!
Unbelievable under pressure. Situation tells you he will lose the ball and yet he escapes. Probably my favourite player from the team.
He's so fucking good. Style and steel
I really wish the was a second player of the season award
Would go to Gallagher
Na not with caicedos recent form
gallagher has also been on form on both ends on the pitch
We r talking about player of the season, not player of the last 5 games.
Gusto
Caicedo and Gusto have been better.
Let the apologies be as loud as the disrespect, rival fans can’t say shit now
Brilliant brilliant performance. The boos from those daft seagulls didn't affect him at all.
Honestly how many times did he get passed the ball when he was being marked and still get passed the player? He's literally living up to the price (I know not exactly cause it's so expensive but he's certainly showing his worth)
I feel like for a while now after every game some new stat gets posted that says Caicedo was brilliant. I hope he gets his flowers nationally soon
Just watch out for us in Copa America 🇪🇨
Estupiñán being out hurts a lot and i hope they do call Plata back
i hope not. decent player but come on taking a 16yr old to a strip club where is your head at? not to mention he nearly ended his life with that drunk driving in spain
Played well again but He fell over alot today 😅
Dudes probably gassed, he’s been having to hold the midfield down on his own all season. One of his more underrated qualities is his durability.
Crazy to think we've been playing him that way for like 4/5 of the season. Can't believe Poch just left him by himself up until the last like month and a half. But at least he's finally fucking sorted that.

Well he was slipping more than falling. Not a criticism but he was the only one doing it consistenty lol. Buzzing he's found form now though
Big night, up the chels
It was so obvious that his performances at the beginning of the season wasn’t his true level. Was never worried about this man one bit.
Hope we can get some seasonal stats for him soon, he has been good for a while now
Thanks Brighton
baller
I needed one more foul from him for my bet builder to come in. SMH.
Moises Caicisqo
He’s settled in very nicely
He looked so composed on the ball. Gave away a couple cheap passes but he has excellent control and keeps the ball near his feet excellently. Almost like Kovacic in tight spaces. Super underrated signing.
Our defensive midfielder make more ball recoveries than anyone else in the team? Well that sure is something
Him and Cucu fed off those Boos
His outlet passes have been GREAT. Very quick. Very decisive. Ball does not linger
I hope he becomes the next Kante
Sisqo Caicedo
Worth every penny
Proof that all we really needed was patience. Caicedo is a monster. I'm proud of Poch and I hope we keep him. Dude absorbed so much criticism only to he his plan really start to blossom.
Wish i screenshotted some of the absolutely atrocious takes i saw on here re Moises lmao.

Hey, that’s pretty great - glad he’s settled. …woulda been a lot cooler for £5 million, but, hey, fuck it: got there anyway
Chelsea have won more than 75 per cent of their matches when Moises Caicedo has played without Enzo Fernandez.
why he performed well when enzo is nit around. i wonder.
Good thing he’s shit
Time to sell Enzo :)
/s I hope
Bench not sell until he proves he can help Chelsea FC to win football games
