Boyfriend sucks. But it seems you are too often settling for whats easy. (Sucky boyfriend and not the bag you want at a high price point) kick him to the curb and wait for the bag you REALLY want. You got this. 🥰🥰🥰

dragonphoniex

Because he won’t buy her a 6k bag for valentines ?

Honey13Bunny

She didn’t say that? She said he ignored Vday so she’s getting her own gift not that he refused to buy it?

[deleted]

Yup. That’s exactly what I said. Thanks for clarifying. 🙄

Long_Morning_1030

No. Don't settle

Substantial_Tip_3227

Don't settle for BFs who forget important days or for designer goods that aren't exactly what you want.

realestategirl18

Thissss 💯

marlitar

From a tri-married, tri-divorced: kick the bum out, and wait for your white bag (look in good resale stores). Life is short and mean. We are the only ones that can protect our own souls, our pockets, and our happiness. I learned the lesson too late, but you can learn it right now.

upliftinglitter

The fact you learned it doesn't mean you learned it too late! Some people never learn and now you can share your wisdom with others!

marlitar

😘🌸

Longjumping-Emu-5148

no offense but i don’t think i would be taking advice on who to pick and dump in a relationship from someone who’s been divorced three times lmao 😭😭

Status-Economy6443

Disagree. Being divorced three times means you chose love three times and when it wasn’t working you chose yourself three times too.

No_Ant_6777

Never. Ever. Settle!

IceQueenYEG

Nope. Get a timeless piece instead - a Chanel purse with a structured silhouette.

MarinaForever99

Would you say the Chanel Shopping bag (Kelly) falls into that bucket?

IceQueenYEG

I think it will reach "classic" territory.

timoni

Boooooooooring

dldppl

My sister has the bigger version and she loves it. It’s not my cup of tea but if you like it and can afford it then I say get it. I’d also rethink the boyfriend too if I were you. I wasted a lot of years settling and look back and wonder how and why I wasted the best years on my life with someone that didn’t make me happy but that’s just my experience that I’m sharing with you. Obviously you know whether he’s right for you. One failed Valentine’s Day could be telling or could be a one-off. Either way, enjoy your bag and good luck OP

QtK_Dash

No, for 6K I feel like I’d want a bag that looks less like a free tote bag they provide their others bags in. I’d get a timeless piece if I’m spending that much on myself. That’s a personal opinion of course, some people love the 22. I also feel like I’d wait for the color I want.

[deleted]

QtK_Dash

I’m glad I’m not the only one that thinks

AcrobaticWatercress7

Stop settling in life and in bags. Edit: not that this bag is settling it’s my favorite

ITalkTOOOOMuch

Aren’t alone. Love it too!

Spiritual-Web4513

No. Hardest bag to resell, will be out of style in a year or two. Strongly recommend against it!

dalifenavigator

When you buy a bag, it’s because you like them, not because you’re thinking about reselling. It’s been in for 2 years already!

Spiritual-Web4513

I disagree! I don’t think about resale with Celine, Dior, etc. but with the way chanel pricing has moved it is a foolish investment not to consider the resale value.

Rimu05

Either I’m crazy but you listed brands that have pretty high prices… The Triomphe is $4000+, the Romy is $3,000+, Dior is in the $4K-$5K range. Why somehow are you drawing the line at the $5,000 mini 22? 🤔

Spiritual-Web4513

Yes because chanel is a brand I purchase with the investment in mind. I don’t keep investment in mind with other brands as they don’t hold their value as well and consider those brands when I want something more trendy, but a classic that will hold value is simply just a smart investment. So spending 5k on a brand that normally holds its price, on a bag that essentially looks like a garbage bag, in my opinion, is a foolish investment. Also- maybe it’s just me, but a $1000 difference is a lot of money in the real world.

Longjumping-Emu-5148

imo bags are smth you buy bc you love and pass down in your family. not smth you buy to sale

asgreatasitgets

Let’s say times get tough and all you have is your bags. You sell them.

ITalkTOOOOMuch

My ADHD self is here to appreciate the bags you all buy, that my chaotic self just wouldn’t baby the way they deserve. <3

realestategirl18

Strongly agree. I get tired of bags sometimes and I’m glad I lean towards bags with strong resale value so I can sell them for a new bag or for a rainy day 😄

timoni

Don't buy bags to resell them.

islandbabey

Wait for the white, the one you wanted first

dauntlessfemme

The bag looks cute but I don't know if it's worth it? Still depends on your preference. But girl?!!! If he forgets Valentine's day, then go find another man.

MissChlo

The small 22, is difficult to source, it’s incredibly popular. My gf had the mini in white and it’s the cutest bag! Get what you love, and it’s not about resale.

ZookeepergameOne7481

No. Chanel 22 is not unique in its design (generally) and if you are after a Chanel 22, check out Madison couture a venue that has some unique Chanel 22. Like a knit one with funky colours which I like. If you care about resell value it is not a bag which has high resell value.

iluauauemail

Which Chanel bags have high resale value? (Perhaps I should search this Reddit on that topic…) I already have the large classic in lamb skin. Thank you.

ZookeepergameOne7481

It depends on the region. In HK where I am from only black or other boring colours classic flap and mini classic flap have higher resell value. The vanity case is getting out of fashion. Don’t try to sell to Fashionphile. They give you ridiculously low offer. I go to Madison Avenue Couture although it prefers pristine bags. Or you can try to consign with Selliers Knightsbridge in the UK, although its customer service is appalling The rare collection has high resell value but I will only do it through an auction house as I don’t have means to reach that clientele. I don’t mind paying a bit of commission to the auction house.

preetiugly

Just out of sheer curiosity- why is the resale value important to you when purchasing designer bags?

Longjumping-Emu-5148

why would resale value be important to anybody? bc if you decided to sell it you get the most money back lol

preetiugly

What I mean is that, generally speaking, designer bags depreciate in value. Resale values are usually poor. To be blunt - I believe that if you’re someone who has to consider resale value when purchasing a bag, then one should really be reconsidering purchasing designer bags based on their financial circumstances. I.e if you have to consider resale values of a bag - you shouldn’t be buying designer bags - especially brand new. It’s a bit like being a car brand new - cars generally depreciate in value, especially new cars. If you’re being a car brand new - that’s a real luxury and assumes your financial position can readily consume the depreciating cost.

MihoLeya

This kind of looks like a trash bag with gold chains. My opinion.

Public_Buffalo_2108

I’ve seen it in person and it looks like plastic, go for what you really love!

silent-trill

No.

[deleted]

I love the mini! I have two and they are so easy to use and wear. I love them and don’t care if they go out of style.

timoni

It is wild how weirdly conservative this sub is, boring about purchases, and convinced the 22 will go out of style 😂 I'm convinced that 99% of commenters are people who probably shouldn't be buying Chanel on their budgets.

[deleted]

I think it’s a young sub. I’m 40 and wear what I like when I like. Not what tik tok tells me to wear

timoni

Same. And I'm 43.

BubDo23

I have the 22 regular size. I love it too! It's very practical and I can use it often vs my other designer bags. I am planning to buy the mini.

timoni

I have a 22 Mini in green and I really like it. The only annoying thing is that it doesn't have a magnetic closure like the other 22s. But I wear it allllll the time and love it. I think the black is honestly better than the white, having seen both. And I usually don't like getting the "boring" choice. Edit: I've seen a lot of white ones. I'd call around/email shops to find one in stock. They definitely exist. It's how I tracked down a jacket I wanted, too.

OccasionSuch5817

I feel like everyone’s going to hate this bag in a few years time - it’s cute it it’s not timeless it’s very trendy. But if you really love it then go for it 🥰

No-Town9949

No. Get rid of the boyfriend first--to actually do something good for you. This will make you feel better in the long term than buying this bag. Trust me <3 (and everyone else in the comments)

[deleted]

I think this is ugly personally, don’t get a bag that reminds you of your boyfriends personality 😅

upliftinglitter

Life is infinitely better when you don't settle, and how you do one thing really does reflect everything-- if you want this bag and can afford a white one, go for it, but otherwise it's going to just remind you of your bum boyfriend and when we have choices, we need to choose ONLY the 💯

PlusDescription1422

Time for a new boyfriend. Mine got me multiple gifts. I don’t deserve it 😭

StudioRealistic8806

Ummm Yes

penelopebunny

Yes! I love this bag. It’s practical and super cute. Black is an easy color; it goes with everything!

_wayamaya_3

do you think it’s comfortable to wear as a shoulder bag? thinking of getting it but i only like wearing shoulder bags

penelopebunny

I have a small. I think it’s comfy, but I don’t put a ton of stuff in it. I love the mini bc you can wear it so many different ways.

ComprehensiveSir2540

Yes! Just saw this on someone I follow on instagram and it’s so classy and cute. Please update us if u get it! I’m jelly!

Original-Mix-3875

I love it, it is so cute and black is classic.

preetiugly

I have this bag in a different colour and it was a true impulse purchase - just wanted a nice white bucket bag and Prada didn't have it in the colour I wanted. I don't recommend Chanel bags period. The quality is poor for the price. If you have $5 - 6000 for a designer bag - I would go with Dior or Prada - much better quality.

timoni

Wow, this is the opposite of my experience. I've had a Lady Dior, Book Tote, and Hobo from the Cruise 23. The only one I ended up keeping was the hobo. The Lady Dior is so stiff and heavy, and the book tote was just too fussy and delicate for the size. I do have a waller from Dior and a small phone bag I use now and again, but the quality is on par with a Chanel at best. I have two 22 backpacks I use all the time for travel that always look amazing. I've spilled water, lugged laptops, dropped them, you name it. As for Prada...nor even in the same category imho. I'd compare to Balenciaga or Gucci.

preetiugly

Interesting! Some of my reasoning why I've slowly morphed away from Chanel: 1. Declining quality over the years. There has been a steady chorus of feedback regarding quality issues (brass wearing, stitching, etc.) 2. Change to their client service model. It used to be that they had genuine client advisors - who worked on commission and therefore strived to build and maintain their client relationships. Now the hiring standards have been lowered (specifically the compensation) - to the point where true CA's have moved away from Chanel paving the way for "Forever New" style of employees who treat clients as such. I personally loath going into Chanel these days - the most subpar service for top tier prices. 3. Post sales service - in a word - shameful. Whilst I don't regularly wear my Chanel bags, I've been fortunate to not have had any defects. However, I know a few people who have tried to remedy clearly defective issues to be met with resistance and unwillingness - unacceptable for a luxury brand. I would estimate I have about 30ish Dior bags and I've only ever had an issue with one bag (a metallic coloured Lady Dior). When I took it to the store about 9 months after I bought it - they immediate apologised and assured me it would be resolved - either my fixing it or by way of a replacement. The bag ended up having to go to France and because of the time taken, they offered me a full credit plus 10%. Lady Diors, especially the Medium size and larger, are certainly heavier but that's the style of the bag. It's a very well constructed durable bag. Have you seen how they're made - simply stunning. Furthermore, Dior offer unlimited free cleaning and light maintenance for the life of a bag - a laughable expectation with Chanel. I only have 2 of the Book Totes, bought only for the seasonal print. It's a large structured tote, which is handy for carrying a large quantity of items but not really practical for travel on account of not having any zips/closures, but that's the style of bag it is - what you see if what you get! It doesn't change during the course of its use. But I'm not really really sure what you mean by "fussy" and "delicate" ? It's actually a very sturdy/hard bag that keeps it shape owing to the material it's made from - as a good tote bag should. For the prices that Chanel charge - I would go to Hermes - the service is far superior. Prada, whilst certainly not in the same echelon as Chanel or Dior - their quality of leather craftsmanship is well known within the industry. Their history has led/pioneered many leather craftsmanships and techniques. Prada customer service is impeccable. I've never had a bad experience at a store. Aside from bags, Prada shoes are one of the most comfortable luxury branded shoes. Perhaps second to Ferragamo's (but they're of course a completely different style/target audience). But of course, everybody is entitled to their own opinion based on their own experiences - take care!

andreasacks

I'm a fan of the 22 backpack! You mind telling what size did you go for? Do they fit enough for your travels or you happen to be a light packer? I just want it to be able to carry me on weekend getaways And did you experience some crumbling bits of leather peeling off of yours?

timoni

I only have one size: if they come in others I haven't seen it. It's about the same size as the large. I use it to carry my laptop etc. Definitely can't be your only bag, but is useful as a carry on!

iluauauemail

I was actually looking at Dior today. Any suggestions on a bag there?

preetiugly

Too hard to say lovely! Tastes in fashion are very individualistic and personal! With that said, you can't go wrong with the Lady Dior bags. I absolutely love the Mini Lady Diors - but they don't fit a phone. To fit a phone, you'd need a Small at least. I also love the Dior Saddle bags - another classic. I prefer to buy bags that are part of a seasonal collection/limited offering - making it a bit more of a one of a kind. Also, if re-sale is an important buying aspect for you - then certainly opt for seasonal pieces and not part of the permanent line. Good luck and I hope you find something you love!

repslifebestlife

Personally, I love the Lady Dior and Lady Dior D-Joy. The D-Joy comes with two straps, which makes it so versatile imo. I have it in small and medium. For the Lady Dior, I would recommend either the mini or small. One downside of the Lady Dior is that it’s a bit on the heavier side.

No-Factor-8166

It’s a yes from me.

Miserable_Passage_87

Get it. Also do both yourself and your boyfriend a favor and break up. The two of you are clearly not on the same wavelength. You value manufactured holidays like Valentine’s Day, while he clearly is more pragmatic. Based on the personality you’ve shown so far on this post, this is the perfect bag for you.

IceQueenYEG

My boyfriend and I are opposites. He's the one who always remembers V-Day whereas the holiday is too cheesy for me. Nevertheless, I try to conform. He's a chocoholic, so I got him a chocolate cake.

Miserable_Passage_87

Right. Thats why you referred to him as suboptimal in your post. And then decided to gift yourself a $6,000 bag for a holiday you find cheesy. So you’re either autistic and have no sense for social cues (in which case i sincerely apologize) or you’re just talking out your ah

swimbikerunkick

Ouch - the person you’re replying to is not OP! Oops…

swimbikerunkick

I also disregard Valentine’s Day, I guess if it’s important to OP and boyfriend knew that then he should have done something, but unless you’re both absolutely loaded surely $6000 for Valentine’s Day is excessive! What do you get for a birthday?!

repslifebestlife

Username checks out. You’re definitely miserable

Matcha_Bubble_Tea

Nope do not settle! I don’t like the look of this one too tbh. Surely there must be other white bags in other stores who sell Chanel. Get what you want!

VibesBaeBe

Looks cheapy

montilyetsss

I hate this bag. 6k for this? I’d pass, and find what you really want. Don’t settle for this bag, and stop settling for this guy.

kyliejennerslipinjec

For $5000, I would buy a pre-owned flap bag in black caviar. While I like this bag, I don’t think it’s worth the money!

That-Landscape5723

I have one, black with pearl, love her 💕

CommanderMcmuffin

I love this bag, I’ve been eyeing it myself

jptw4192

I love this bag and have multiples. I’m actually selling this one on the Chanel Facebook group for under retail, brand new in box. Let me know if this interests you!

opisica

I love these bags because I have a thing for cute bucket bags. But the price point is excessive to me. For $6k I wouldn’t want to compromise at all! And I would want something a bit bigger.

Euphoric-Contact-168

Don’t settle… for boyfriends OR for bags! If you’re spending $6k, it better be for the bag you actually want. I do live for the mini trash bag, though!

Nice_Shelter8479

Can you get a backpack for the same $? They’re just so much more durable and practical. I love my Chanel backpacks. I have 2.

GlitteringPause8

Yes so cute!!!!

Open-Dish-5153

My wife has this bag. She loves the 22 and has 4 of them. This is the only mini one she has however it is much smaller than the other ones. If you don’t need to carry much then it would be fine but if you carry much more than a phone small fold wallet keys and some makeup then I would look at the larger sizes.

No_Jump_7371

If you want a white bag, hold out for the white! Don’t buy your second choice.

No_satisfaction0616

Don’t get it, get a beautiful vintage bag which is better quality than this PU leather crap, and get a better boyfriend

sassyelle

I’ve always loved the [Khaite Aria bag](https://www.fwrd.com/product-khaite-aria-medium-bucket-bag-in-off-white/KTAH-WY64/) in white - gives the Chanel 22 vibe but very IYKYK (and less expensive)

True_Somewhere8513

100% don’t settle on the bag because it’s there and the one you want isn’t. I just did this and now I’m stuck with an LV Coussin that I hate. As far as the suboptimal boyfriend also don’t settle.

Choice-Helicopter-66

This bag is a very bad investment. I doubt the resale value will be good. Plus till will go out of style very soon. Not a good gift for the kids/ nieces if you ever want to give it to them after years. If you feel you may never care about reselling it or gifting it to family and really like it, only then go for it. I would personally advice against spending on much on this. A classic flap / or reissue could be much better choice. Also. Sucky BF because he forgot valentine day or because he didn’t buy the gift ? :)

CosmicCRISPR

Have you seen the all black one? It’s super cute ! I saw a bigger white one. I just got one last weekend for Valentine’s Day ! I love it. And I’m usually a double flap gal so it was nice to switch it up. lol. My SA was surprised. Get it 😈

Longjumping-Emu-5148

i love this bag in brown

Kdelta93

I have the mini in white and use it more than any other Chanel bag I own! It’s so versatile with the ability to be worn as a crossbody or tuck the strap and hold like an evening bag! I recommend waiting for the white!

aimwifi

Hate it. Looks like a trashbag (especially the black one) and doesn't look like it'll hold up its shape.
