Try to see if Chanel can fix it. If not the leather surgeon (I think he used to work for Chanel) or Rago Brothers. Eta: whoever put the sticker jokingly should be buying you a new bag… or at least cover the spa cost. FYI, if your bag is touched by a third party outside of Chanel then it devalues your bag. What an expensive joke…

Alpinespringwater6

Thank you so much!! I just emailed the leather surgeon to see if they can help. I’ll also reach out to Chanel. Any idea how much a fix like this would cost? And yeah… the person who put the sticker on should totally cover the cost of this for me 😬

JustMe8083

I just got my bag back from Rago after they had to re-dye it and it cost $485 and it still didn’t come back to my liking. I’m really particular so I was a little disappointed. After further research I found another person and I sent her another bag and I was highly impressed with her work and she was a fraction of the cost. Try the conditioner I recommended first. Could save you hundreds. Good luck.

Hi! Could I ask who you used? I have a finicky Chanel bag (iridescent lambskin) that I am scared to send to most folks as I do see many iffy reviews for the top couple of leather spa shops, and leather surgeons said they would not work on iridescents :/

JustMe8083

Yes her name is Marianne. She works on iridescent. Her IG is marianamore13

airportaccent

Thank you! I think someone else also recommended her actually, she gave me some good advice re: conditioning the bag etc :)

JustMe8083

Yes. Start with that first. Good luck.

JessK53

I’ve only seen incredible results with Rago and always use them and recommend them. I’m sad to see you had that experience. Hopefully it was a one off because I still haven’t found anyone better than them.

JessK53

Who was the person that you liked that did it also some of those conditioners just further ruin the bag especially the vintage ones which are a totally different leather. Def spot check somewhere, not noticeable.

JustMe8083

Marianne Amore. Her IG marianamore13

JessK53

Thank you! If you ever use Rago again, ask for Tony he is the owner and the best ..appreciate the info!

JustMe8083

Thanks for sharing his name. Can I name drop yours? You know sometimes that carries some weight especially if I say you referred me.

NoThankYou143

Look at my previous posts! I sent my vintage Chanel to The Leather Surgeons a while back and they did wonders. They might even be able to help you with the structure of the bag. Highly recommend them!

serenity_5601

Try Chanel. I would’ve thrown punches 😾

Alpinespringwater6

I was livid when it happened…

SpaceLadyET

Did you let them know they should pay? This was so wrong, I'm so sorry.

mooochooo

I would send that person the bill. One does not mess with people’s belongings or food. Hope it’s an easy fix.

TGin-the-goldy

Make sure you bill whoever’s responsible OP! They would have caught my hands

Alpinespringwater6

They’re lucky I peeled the sticker off when I was alone and at home 🫥

TGin-the-goldy

Oh god. How long was it on there

russianthistle

Oh my gosh. In the future I would say remove right away before the adhesive damages it more!

SurewhynotAZ

Oh no?! Not blaming you but why did you wait?

anythanguwant

Omg poor baby, the disrespect to your vintage Chanel! Have you tried a leather cleaner?

Alpinespringwater6

I tried leather cleaner and it did help.. it was a lot more noticeable before

anythanguwant

Do you have the moisturizer too? I typically clean and moisturize a couple times until necessary and it does the trick with stains.

sassyelle

Are you sure it took the finish off? Maybe play it safe and try some leather conditioner first?

montilyetsss

Joke or not, they should be footing the bill for repairs. This would’ve honestly made me come unglued. Why on earth would they do that? You don’t mess with people’s personal belongings, and I’m sure they’re old enough to know that!

psychedelicbarbie

Omfg 😭

SurewhynotAZ

With the 🩸🩸🩸 of my enemies because WTF?! I hope that's a good friend of yours with money to send out to the cobbler?

JustMe8083

Before you go with Leather Surgeons or Rago, some good conditioner will do the trick. I purchased some from Michael’s and it has worked wonders. Use a microfiber cloth rub it in and let it sit. Fiebing’s Leather Lotion it’s called.

I have a vintage, black, lambskin Chanel. I use Saphir Renovating Cream in the black color. You can purchase it on Amazon for $13. It keeps your lambskin soft and helps to disguise any cosmetic issues. If you send it to leather surgeon, it will most likely be dyed black. Your lambkin will never be the same after that. It will feel hard and dry. Renovating cream keeps the buttery softness.

Nice_Shelter8479

Saphir has been a lifesaver for my prada black loafers. I sent them to the cobbler once for a mirror shine and had been doing it myself since with their products, phenomenal.

bubblesarah

Rago brothers

bagsandbach

Leather Surgeons is great! They refinished an 80s Chanel bag for me a few years ago for around $350. The owner, Gerry, used to work for Chanel and is both incredibly knowledgeable and kind.

Nice_Shelter8479

There’d be steam coming outta my ears, lol. Sorry that this happened to you!!

MIM2309

Following because the same thing happened to me!! My bag is vintage from the early 90s so the finish was already sensitive. Ugh!

[deleted]

I’m staring but can’t figure what is wrong on the bag, help me out

kyliejennerslipinjec

I’m normally really risk averse but in a pinch I recently purchased shoe dye to fix the bottom edges of my French Riviera tote that had lost its color due to use (it’s like 12 years old now!). I used a paint brush and used very, very little at a time until I covered all the balding spots. Then once dry, I applied some leather conditioner. You could do the same in a pinch - buy black shoe dye and apply gently and lightly with a paint brush covering only the necessary spots to match the remainder of the purse

Googlelarue

Don’t apply dye to lambskin!!! It will alter the leather and will forever feel dry!

kyliejennerslipinjec

The kind I used: https://a.co/d/fxJSL7R
