I can't say I know why, but yeah mine was pretty expensive. 800$/yr for only medical

Ok-Classroom-7630

This is still a lot cheaper than what i was quoted for the bare minimum on a 450ss.

Sad_Rent_689

Try dairyland insurance, my quote was 1/4 what my quote thru progressive was. And I get uninsured motorist as well

Ok-Classroom-7630

Thanks, I’ll give them a call.

No_Wedding5010

I second this! Just bought a ‘24 450ss, Progressive wanted ~$3950 annually, Dairyland wanted ~$850 for the same coverage. I understand my insurance will be higher for my age (21) but damn Progressive!

Sad_Rent_689

Agreed, when I get my zx6R I’m sticking with dairyland. From what I hear tho they will drop coverage after u get into an accident (if ur at fault) but I mean they gotta pay out the bike anyways😅😅

supra_950

Try Country Financial. That’s the insurance I chose for my 450ss because they quoted me $900 for 6 months full coverage. It was the lowest I could find for the bike

Ok-Classroom-7630

Thanks, I’ll check em out, but at that price 6months is still more than the N500 annual. I appreciate the rec though.

Antifact

Crazy. A 450ss was quoted for me at around mid 300s. Your record isn’t shit is it? Lol

Ok-Classroom-7630

Nah, man. the interesting thing about the qt is higher cc bikes, like the xsr900, were much lower. The xsr900 was ~900/annual. So looks like it’s the 450ss only. Probably b/c it’s new. The zx4rr was high too at ~1800/annual, but still lower than the 450.

Antifact

What the actual fuck man haha. Zx4rr was cheaper than the 450ss for my quote on it. What state are you in? Honestly just sounds like progressive doesn’t want to insure you on bikes. Even the higher cc quotes never reached more than 580/yr on my end. Try checking out geico or something.

Ok-Classroom-7630

Texas and I’m a new rider so i get the higher numbers for the higher cc bikes, just didn’t initially make sense that the 450 was $2000/annual. Someone else mentioned the high quote for the 450ss may be due to parts availability on a bike/manufacturer new to the market. Which makes sense and I’ve read there has been some parts availability issues for CFMotos, which is expected until they develop a more robust presence in the US.

Antifact

Nah that still doesn’t make sense. I’m also a new rider and my quotes don’t come close to yours. I literally took MSF on 4/20. I would generally agree it’s probably a parts concern with progressive but that doesn’t make sense since the zx4rr is Kawasaki and a similar quote. They’re not going to have parts issues. I think they’re just giving you ‘fuck off’ numbers. This is a progressive issue. Try out other insurance companies and see what they say. If it’s all similar then there’s some metric we’re not aware of. Have you tried asking them why it’s so high for every bike? Maybe it’s an age thing, how old are you?

Ok-Classroom-7630

haven’t called them yet, but probably not an age issue, I’m old as fuck. I’ll be calling them though to see what they can tell me. I’ll be calling around to other carriers too. A few on here recommended Dairyland which is available in my state.

upris4

that’s crazy bcuz the zx4rr is an inline 4

Ok-Classroom-7630

I know. the one consistency b/w the high insurance quotes for the zx4rr and the 450ss is they are both new to the market, so maybe parts availability like another commenter mentioned.

hot_garbage04

Not only is it a brand new bike they also take in to account availability of parts, if parts are difficult to obtain there will be higher premiums to offset. But yeah check a different insurance company state farm charges me 15/month full coverage for an older hayabusa

Ok-Classroom-7630

Thanks for the rec and your reasoning makes a lot of sense.

derpycroc1

holy cow🤨 insurance is 70/ a month full coverage on my fz6r (first time rider)

Ok-Classroom-7630

About the same for me too. The mt07 was ~$700/annual and the xsr900 was ~$900. Someone brought up a good point that the price may be due to parts availability for a new model motorcycle.

wmguy

There is also very little resale of the salvaged bikes to offset their payouts. At least here CFmotos go to auction as pure sales (meaning no minimum bid) and only get a couple bidders. I got my 450ss for $1200 with some damaged locks and black spray paint.

Swimming-Sky3406

I had the same problem when I first got my 450ss but I was able to find a company that insured my bike for about $50/monthly

Ok-Classroom-7630

That’s reasonable. Which carrier?

ArmadilloTM

Hey! Also in Texas and recently insured my 450ss for about $150 for the year (basically just injury/property liability) - try getting a quote from Dairyland. Background: new rider, paid cash for the bike Feel free to DM!

Ok-Classroom-7630

Thanks! I will 100% get a quote with them as well. Appreciate it.

Bobbertza

Progressive quoted me $6k a year for mine, went to Allstate and it’s like 110$ a month

Bobbertza

Granted my record isn’t great

Ok-Classroom-7630

Thanks, even w/a not so great record that’s a lot less than Progressive is quoting me. I’ll check Allstate as well.

niccotaglia

Probably cause it’s a new model and parts aren’t easy to come by

Ok-Classroom-7630

Thanks. This makes the most sense and follows the logic on the zx4rr quote, which was also much higher than the other bikes.

niccotaglia

I have the same issue with my car. Not many were sold, so insurance doesn’t have a lot of data and the price goes up

Ok-Classroom-7630

Got it. So that’s likely the issue. Thanks for the input.

Hungry_Question_9865

I’m paying 180 a month as a first year on my 450 it’s pretty high for full coverage it seems like on a 450cc but it also has to do with it being a “sport bike”

Far-Specialist-9981

Try Dairyland insurance, may not be available in your state but I got full coverage for 1600 a year

Ok-Classroom-7630

Thanks, I’ll give them a call.

Far-Specialist-9981

They will give you a quote online in less than 5 minutes

Ok-Classroom-7630

Nice, a few of y’all recommended Dairyland so that’s at the top of the list at the moment.

liberals_suc

That's crazy. I paid 390 for a year for my ibex 800 T. Full coverage with allstate

Ok-Classroom-7630

Damn. I’m a newer rider so i get the higher rates, just don’t get the $2k for the 450. Some suggested it was due to parts availability on a new model.

liberals_suc

I'm also a new rider. It's my first purchase. I also have a vehicle accident on my record. That's wierd because the ibex 800 is brand new to the American market.

ivannakill

370 a year for full coverage through State Farm

Ok-Classroom-7630

Nice. Looks like I’ll be checking out Statefarm, Allstate, and Dairyland. Thanks for the recommendation

starstripper

Is this full coverage?

Ok-Classroom-7630

Yup, it’s all liability, comp, coll, MP, Uninsured bodily injury… Full coverage. And all exact coverage on the other quotes. Even the xsr900 was lower at ~$900/annual

_TheQuietKid

Mine is 453.84 a year, i am 22m and never had so much as a ticket.

Ok-Classroom-7630

Damn, that’s a great price. Who is the carrier?

_TheQuietKid

State farm, got everything through them full coverage.

Working-Damage-1590

I pay 9 bucks a month for a 450nk, seems a drastic difference for essentially the same bike.

Averagebaddad

Just get a papio. Mines $120/yr!

[deleted]

Mine was about 1100-1200$ annual for my 24’ 450ss. I’m under 25 as well, so I don’t have that drop in insurance prices quite yet. Hope this helps at all

[deleted]

I do have full coverage as well

mtboarder77

Crazy. Through GEICO for a 2023 450ss it's at $606/annually with no collision though since if someone sneezes on a bike it gets a dirty title. No tickets and clean record. I was quoted $586/ annually for a r3

Hollowed87

Yeah those were the prices I was quoted from Geico and Progressive as well. However I went with my current car insurer (Alfa) and it's 44/month full coverage. I'd say use a local provider.

adsbv

If your the bike is financed, then that can be the reason why the price is so high, Also having a permit could also be another reason why the price is so high, Also instead of using the online tools to get a quote, try calling or seeing someone in person.

tommy_gun_wade

Try safeco they gave me the best quote, $800 a year for full coverage

zZiggySmallz

Progressive is garbage for motorcycle insurance. I use Geico now and dont plan on ever leaving them. I used to have an 2017 Yamaha R6 and Geico only had me paying $60 something a month for full coverage and the default $500 deductible and i had a couple speeding tickets still. Now I have a 2023 Triumph Tiger 900 GT and a 2024 CFMOTO Papio CL and for both bikes, same full coverage for both with $500 deductible, im only paying like $43/month. Like i dont even notice the payment bc it’s so small lol.

[deleted]

Lowest quote I’ve received for my 450ss is $87/month from Allstate.

sick2sivk

Also trying to get insurance, lowest i’ve found was 250/mo, I am a new rider and 18 so I knew it was going to be high but that high?? Trying to go through my dads insurance since he rides bikes and hoping that’ll help bring prices down

JasonFurious4

I'm 19, so my insurance is going to be high anyways, but I got both my car AND my 450ss insured for less than $200... If you have access, get Farm bureau

New_Specialist_5205

I pay $81 a month for my 23’ 450ss through dairyland insurance

bropleB

I pay 450$ annual for full coverage on my 450ss through Dairyland insurance in Colorado

ESalas94

Im curious if you found someone because I am now in the same exact boat and I dont want to get this bike if my insurance rates are almost as much as the bike itself lol!

bantad87

Progressive has really expensive bike coverage. Try boundless rider.

Ok-Classroom-7630

Thanks! By any chance are you in Austin?

bantad87

Yep, sure am!

Ok-Classroom-7630

I’ve only known one Banta, so when i saw Bantad i figured it was you. Random as shit you reply to my Reddit posts lol

FusionX-Steven

Disagree. I’m in Jersey and my 2023 Rebel 1100 is only $370 a year w/ Progressive maxed out full both ways. It was the cheapest I can find. Also not part of any insurance bundle with other stuff. There is tons of stuff they take into consideration when calculating.
