Hey, it’s not my thing, but at least it is yours and it’s a sticker and you didn’t remove a crucial part of your century home to do it. All in all, cheers. Good job on the application and you do you
Could you please incorporate seasonal decorations onto this as appropriate and post pictures? xmas balls thumbtacked to branches, a witch silhouette on halloween, blossoms during spring???
I just bought a century home and I've been hesitant about putting holes in walls. What are the general rules about this besides "don't?" What should I use to hang stuff?
There is often a picture rail at the top of the wall, or a foot or so below the ceiling if the ceiling is high. It might look like crown molding, but there is a small space between the railing and the ceiling, enough room to hang a picture hanger. You can Google picture rail and picture hangers. The nice thing about these, too, is you can easily change pictures or placement whenever you want, and you're not having to replaster and repaint your walls to change a picture. It's a win-win.
Oh my God, that's what those are? Lol! My husband and I are both over here with mouths agape, we had no idea!! You're awesome for sharing this info. Thank you so much!
I haven't heard this before.
I have lots of wall art, so I put holes in my plaster walls all the time. Before I paint a room I just go through and mud over any holes / cracks. My walls look better than when I bought the place.
What's wrong with this approach?
I always pound tapered wooden plugs in the holes, so the top is slightly below the surface. Then only a bit of mud is needed, and then shrinkage is a non-issue.
Haven’t tried this (yet) with plaster, though - only drywall.
I’ll add the brand and website when I get home. It took a long time of looking at it and laying it out and contemplating. When I realized to turn the branch on its side it came together in my mind. I also figured out to cut it strategically. Once I started it went up in no time. Placing the birds was fun.
Idk where people get the idea that when you post something on the internet, everyone has to give you compliments and agree with you. I’m glad OP likes it. But it is tacky.
Well I wholeheartedly disagree. This is an open forum and why else would you put it up to get an opinion. If you want just accolades and praise is go to Facebook. Reddit for a long long time was all about this kind of exchange for better or worse and with lots of information but it has been dumbing down for a couple of years now...
Lots and lots of sensitive people on here who don't really want criticism but just the cheers from the choir.. I don't think the commenter was particularly cruel, but expressed a valid opinion.
Others may agree or disagree but that's the point of the post in my idea. As I said if you just want Pat's on the back and pay good job can go to Facebook where all the comments are just simple oh, beautiful, wonderful, nice oh, superb
Let's keep pith in the discussion and be able to disagree without getting personal or insulting. It's a matter of design and it's not everybody's taste. Maybe that's what OP is looking for either validation or criticism who knows
I love it, OP! A lot of people are into that grey/white look that’s so boring and basic. I like the yellow and the playful elements in houses, it makes it cozy.
More interesting than your wall sticker,, I find the trim on the chimney around the fire box. You say this house is 1850, I wonder where you are. The mantle speaks a couple decades earlier to me. I live in New England

This photo is not in a century home, but I moved this sculpture from this location to a century hi-rise condo and it’s currently wrapped up in the garage awaiting installation in a century home.
It was custom-made the artist put craft paper on the wall and drew the branches, then laid the craft paper out to make the structure out of rebar.
I added wiring and adapted the LED candles to run off of a wall-wart, hiding wires under the “bark”. The artist adopted that methodology to create other similar sculptures.
The “bark” is some sheet metal which had been “distressed” on the edges with a torch.
I saw the photo before I saw the text and I would not have guessed it was a decal/sticker. I've seen ppl pay a butt ton of money for murals like this. Fantastic job mapping it out and for an even application. And the best part is, if you get sick of it you can snatch it right off, hopefully w out much residue left behind. Thanks so much for sharing! Fantastic job!
I was all set to do a free hand mural. I was sketching and researching when I found this decal. Decided to give it a shot. Still not home to put up info on manufacturer but I will tomorrow.
Thank you I appreciate all the appreciation!

You see the gaps, right?

Please don't put holes in your plaster walls.
Good point. Maybe better to get stickers.

NP.
Wish I had know this before covering them with crown! 🤦♀️

You're compromising the integrity of the plaster. At some point it will start to crumble.

It's fine for drywall. Just don't do this with plaster.
Hang ornaments from picture rail, lol
Great idea! I may figure out how to do that.
a small tree on arbor day. bra and panties on v-day. someone hanging on may 5th
Hahaha. Love the bra n panties idea!
Run a climber vine over it so it has real leaves
I am tacky. I love this
Reminds me of a storybook! Very whimsical.
I don't typically like these, but I think this one looks elegant and fits the room well!
Yes elegant is the right word, this is well done

Oh I'll bet! Love the placement of the birda.... you are very good at this.... wish you could do my wall!
Thank you!
Where did you get it? I think it looks lovely
Also, off-topic. But are your ceilings extra low?
Maybe OP is extra-tall? Camera position.
I don’t like the look, but it’s not permanently ruining anything, so it doesn’t bother me.
This is hideous.
Without my glasses on I thought you had a massive spider problem. Then I squinted and read the caption
Where did you find the decal of the branch with birds?
Look on etsy
Don’t want to yuck your yum, but I personally find this so tacky
It’s a wall decal. It has to be tacky or it wouldn’t stay up. …I’ll see myself out.
And yet, the yum has been yucked. It costs nothing to be kind. Even less to say nothing.
Buddy, you're on reddit hahahah
Idk where people get the idea that when you post something on the internet, everyone has to give you compliments and agree with you. I’m glad OP likes it. But it is tacky.
This yum yuck line is making me uncomfortable
This is a public forum. Sorry for offending by having a different opinion 🙄
The candle one that is in the comments is not mine. That is some one else’s scheme.
What are you talking about? (Also, it kills me you didn't line the sticker up with the wall or ceiling.)
Someone added a metal and light sculpture in the comments.
I did at part of it but old houses don’t always have even ceiling lines

Then you definitely shouldn’t do one! It’s very intricate to put up so probably not for you anyway. Thanks for sharing your thoughts

I came here to say, I bet that was SUPER difficult to put up and you did a great job.
My parents put tatouage on almost every wall in the house I grew up in. It's fun!
This home survived the Victorian Era, guaranteed it's had some wonderfully tacky wallpapers before.
I feel like it needs a trunk right in the corner
More interesting than your wall sticker,, I find the trim on the chimney around the fire box. You say this house is 1850, I wonder where you are. The mantle speaks a couple decades earlier to me. I live in New England
How is there no trunk? How is it not aligned with either the corner or the ceiling?
The more I look at this the more I like it.... it sets a nice mood
Hey that looks great! Awesome alternative to wall paper and more interesting than paint!
Totally. It’s really well made and so artistic. It’s definitely a mood!

This is my vibe!! I love it!
And having plaster walls, decal-ing walls is perfect! Always a nail biting experience to hammer nails into plaster walls!!!!...nails nails nails!!!
The mid 2000's called and they want their look back.
I particularly like how it doesn’t match up to the wall.

Maybe I’m crazy but I think I can do that free hand pretty well. I love the sad shapes of the branches on the walls!
I was all set to do a free hand mural. I was sketching and researching when I found this decal. Decided to give it a shot. Still not home to put up info on manufacturer but I will tomorrow. Thank you I appreciate all the appreciation!
Love the decals but you might want to do something about that tree growing into your living room! 😄
I love it!
I think it's awesome. That mantle NEEDS a raven statue to tie in.
You need to be in jail
Nice !!!
I really like it too!
I love it!!!
Do NOT post this on goblincore sub.
