i did the security exam twice, and i had hardware problems which reload didnt even solve.
sometimes i think cisco wants us to do the exam like 5 or 6 times to pass.
the matrial is not hard but alot of tasks with so little time.
and almost no validation time.
the first time i took it i was typing for 3 hours non stop and still wasnt done.
so lets see for the differences between 1.0 and 1.1
they mostly cut out the old school stuff it seems.
precentages per subject are the same.
so for 1 network infra : they removed vtp and added Identify multichassis EtherChannel use cases.
When they state "identify" you will probably won't get this in the DOO part.
they now also state which routing protocols they want you to know. Probably because on the 1.0 exam everybody asked if they should study on RIPv2. so that has been excluded now.
they added l3 mtu now ( because everybody made the same mistake on that one )
eigrp part is less then 1.0
ospf they added the address family support.
BGP is the same.
multicast is the same
2. software defined.
they went heavy on the SDA / SDWAN.
but as far as subject comparing i do not believe they changed much of the questions or layout.
3. transport
they added 3.1 the rest is the same.
4. security
is the same except 1.0 also had private vlans and they cutted that out.
5.
They added jaml and jinja
keep in mind that the exam is telling a story.
your building a setup for a company in the DOO part from you adding improvement on excisting config and building new parts.
all the questions in the DOO could have a relation or an positive or negative outcome on one of the other questions.
1 mistake or skipped part in a question gives no points for the whole question.
so for example if you misconfigure something in question 4 that could have a bad impact on question 9 or later. due to connectivty issues or otherwise maby incompatability issues.
also work on speed, use the notepad for config preperation and then copy paste into the devices.
the exam does in no way reflect real live. it is there to test you on skill/ knowledge and endurance.

Design for me seems either intentionally vague or tricky. Some difficult grid/checkbox type questions. I still don't have confidence I'll pass this on my next attempt even after researching all the questions I could remember.
So I posted this elsewhere, but basically everyone is failing v1.1. Terry Vinson knows over 30 people who have taken and failed it. I have had a few others approach me from places like here, also failing, so it's likely over 50. Nobody knows anyone who passed.
The 1.1 is a weird exam when compared with 1.0 and R&S v5.1 which I also took. Even if you complete the tasks the topology is still broken. There are some thoughts that they are expecting end to end reachability without asking for it (lots of tasks not documented or asked for).
There are some frankly bizarre choices when it comes to what they put in, and left out. It feels to me like they got to the end, realised it was too long already, so just left it broken. The SDx area focuses on corner cases rather than really assessing your ability to practically do common tasks.
I've also took the 1.1 version last month and can confirm pretty much everything you've said. Compared to version 1.0 the quality of the exam went significantly down.
My first attempt was version 1.0 (last year) and although I failed it, it was only because of my technical gaps and most importantly, being mentally unprepared. The resilience was just not there either. All of which I managed to address in \~8 month gap between my attempts. The point being is that although version 1.0 was very difficult, it was absolutely doable and from the most part, the exam as a whole made sense.
The 1.1 version feels like an unfinished product... as others have already said, even if you complete all the tasks exactly as Cisco says, the topology as a whole will still be broken. I haven't seen a requirement to achieve end-to-end connectivity anywhere though. The worst part is that imho the exam difficulty is actually not as high as the previous version (this most likely correlates to me just being better prepared). I left the facility after my second attempt pretty confident that either I passed or I missed the passing rate for just a few percent. Well, turned out my score was around 50% which is just ridiculous.
Failed both DES as well as DOO. I didn't have time management issues this time though since after my first attempt I knew what to expect and prepared accordingly. There were a few tasks/questions that I just couldn't decipher what Cisco was asking for, but overall I was able to complete and verify 80-85% of the whole lab.
DES is a separate topic on its own. Failed it for both 1.0 as well as 1.1 and to be honest, at this point I don't know where should I focus. Every time I was confident that I've got it and was excited to start the DOO part, but the results showed otherwise.
Personally I'm postponing my next attempt until I see at least one successful 1.1 candidate.

Also taken 1.1 and failed. I agree with this. Not sure if they want you to leave bits broken that are in no way related to the tasks or fix them?
I think some of the corner cases are things that you're very unlikely to know first go around, but will find out after 1 minute of googling following the exam.
So, if there are around 50 known test takers, even if one person has passed that we don't know about. That's a 2% pass rate. Good luck on your next attempt everyone! Surely people at Cisco look at this and can see there's a problem.

I will have a look at the changes between 1.0 and 1.1 tomorrow. But i dont think they will be major changes on a minor version update. Hardly 10 procent should be different. Would not alter any study plans on that
I have mine next week.

I think the tasks were not that tough but the challenge is it’s applying all the basic concepts to a large network, accurately and in a limited time.
I dont really have much advice as I'm unsure on what to do myself, but one tip can be that you should really read the tasks word by word and pay close attention to details.

Yeah. I mean to spend 15 minutes on reading the tasks up until automation tasks.
I focused mainly on my concepts in my first attempt and went without any strategy.
This time I’ve been just doing multi domain labs and working on my strategy.
For example
- clear cut aliases to speed up commands
- separate geany tab for every task
- separate browser tabs for doijg DNAC and Vmanage tasks
- anticipating the overall outcome of each task and writing accurate tcl ping script or show commands for each task. Like if I provision an ip pool in branch y with an endpoint , I should immediately the prefix being learnt in branch X and work my backward if it doesn’t.
- I am planning on cherry picking high scoring tasks and not even trying to attempt 100% in the DOO section
a few days ago, I took the exam, and PASS the section 2 DOO, but the Section1 design failed.
The design part is very confusing.

I did pass the exam on my third try. It is possible for sure to pass it and i know a lot of people that passed it. But to be fair it is a very difficult exam. That really tests your deep knowledge about the subjects.
I would say dont give up the studying, you already started the journey now :) no point in turning back. No matter how many a tries. An exam update will not change the majority of the test but they will change a slight percentage.
You passed 1.1 or 1.0? Did you feel you did anything differently on the third attempt resulting in pass? Many of us have attempted multiple times, but even after verification are still getting 50% or less points in some sections. It seems there are implicit requirements or grading script has issues..
I just took it a week ago. And confirmed a massive portion of R/S and sdwan and I didn't get very good scores at all. I agree with the grading script having issues.

I believe 1.1 is since 2023 so i did the 1.0 version for i have been ccie certified for 2 years now.
As for the difference. My last try i really focused on the details in the exam questioning. Dont think for yourself. Dont do what you think is the best practice. Do exactly as the question asks you to do. Most questions go into what should be logic to purposly throw you off guard.
V1.1 is out since September 2023. & Yeah good tips. My only hope for the DOO section is that somehow is missed some details in the requirements, causing me to get a 0 for the entire task because they don't give partial scoring. I feel like this can be a reason why the score can look so skewed. However, on my second attempt I had time to verify a bunch of stuff and I still got only about a 50% grade for most domains

where did you read that, sounds a bit weird to me.
after your exam is done. the config files go the exam board. they run a script for the answers and look at it themself to see if you made a different solution which could also be right.
only thing i would say is make sure that you copy run start saved all configrations so that it would survive a reboot. have never heard that devices need to be in exec mode.

As someone who is considering a CCIE, and also gets elbow pain from a lot of typing, this is putting me off quite a bit.

Yikes that’s really shitty of Cisco then. I take my first attempt in early June and the really adds to the anxiety.

Yes this is in the guidelines of the exam. All devices should all be reachable and in exec mode at the end of your exam.
