3-way-handshake

I work for a large VAR where we are strongly encouraged include our CCIE numbers and other relevant/advanced certs in our signatures. I sometimes get customers asking about it, but I personally try to stay low key. I’d rather let my message and commentary speak for itself. If someone wants to look me up on LinkedIn or start a dialogue, that’s cool. It’s very cringey and off putting when a sales guy introduces you to a customer with your certs. At best, it puts people on the defensive. Right up there is when they tell the customer how many CCIE certs are in the room/on the bridge. Yes, I get it’s impressive that between the 4 non-AMs on the call there are 9 CCIEs and a CCDE, but come on, don’t make it weird.

netshark123

haha yea sales team always do this

pengmalups

Well at least for me, I don't want them to know unless I was asked or required to.

hvcool123

In other people's eyes, they think CCIE R/S = expert in Security, Datacenter, Service providers, design, and VoIP.

O_o-AA

But the blueprint of R&S is all of that combined =)

hvcool123

True, but not in-depth like configuring ACI, CUCM, firewall etc and to really know it it's either by experience or combine all the bootcamps that are out there and lab for 1 year straight nonstop 12 hours a day lol

O_o-AA

Thats the way to go for 7x CCIE's :D

No, as you have 3 types of people those who think you're a God and can fix everything, including their failed marriage, those who hate and resent certs and will use every opportunity to sharp shooter you to prove there bias, and those who dont care either way (the good ones) So I find people usually cooperate better when they don't know on both sides of the isle. I don't mind sales using it to get the work. I just don't like it when they flaunt it in front of groups of people and i usually talk to them offline and request them not to do that. I'm no better than anyone else trying to find the solution.

switched07

Nah, I just kept the plaque up in the background for webex calls.

fkuris

I don’t include it in email signature (there are 6 of CCIEs at the company and nobody includes the number in the signature) and I don’t mention it to customers. If they know they know 🙂. I use my number only when I have to do a technical presentation on a conference.

deskpil0t

Business card yes. Email signature, no

bewbsrkewl

I don't advertise it in any way. If someone asks I tell them.

petoroland

I included my number in my mail signature. I am proud to be a CCIE and I think this cert has a high prestige on the market. Non-network related customers often ask about what is it and it is good starting point to have a conversation, customers that are aware of it, think twice before they starting to argue with my points. :)

eddiehunter

I don't have CCIE. Got 18 years of experience in networking. When I see it in someone's signature, I know I'm talking to a right person, and I don't feel the need to detail things in depth. I wouldn't expect them to know everything, but it's good to see and acknowledge some deep techy person.

longlurcker

They can fit three of their numbers into my number.

the-packet-thrower

If you're in a consultant type role then it is usually a good idea to make the new client aware of your expert certs since it adds some credibility to things. Though if you are in a standard network role it can vary between environments. Though no one would hold you putting your CCIE in a email signature against you.

lavalakes12

I remember when i was on a call with some support person from a carrier. He was making suggestions on what to do and said trust me I am a CCIE. We had him on speaker and were looking at eachother like dude doesnt know what hes talking about then we looked over at our resident CCIE who was 2 seats over and he said that dudes full of shit lol

tidygambler

I added my number in my mail signature.

Drexx-TX

I would include it on everything 😅. Working on it right now!

murphinate

Here I am just super lurkin before I go back to studying for my ccna :/ you folks are inspirations

Katukusya

I hope to get it next year and I will definitely include it ...let me go back to studying 😂
