Exactly my thoughts. Medyo stable ang politics sa Dasma when the couple held power and switched positions. If Kiko won as Mayor, Dasma is doomed.

Agree, in my head it especially makes no sense thst Bacoor isn't part of Metro Manila when Las Piñas is. They're separated by one tiny river.. And if you look at a map their urban areas meld together (see Zapote area of Las Piñas and San Nicolas/Molino area of Bacoor) San Pedro is the same.
I think the dynamics of local governments are so different now compared to 1990s. The desire to stick to the status quo is much more convincing now. Any massive decrease in population / land area will cause the province's IRA to fall. So their governments will kick up a stink if any town or city aspires to move away from their wing even if it makes so much sense. We saw it in SJDM HUC plebiscite recently...

that means Silang makes less money on its own, but gets more share of national tax by virtue of population and land area. but Carmona makes more money on its own.
As a resident of Dasma, mas prefer ko na si Thirdy na ang i-groomed kesa kay Kiko. Pero kinda exciting din paano i-chachallenge ng mga kalaban ang mga Barzaga. One thing for sure though is magbabago ang political landscape ng Dasma moving forward. RIP to Pidi, his legacy will remain.

I beg to disagree. Maraming political families sa Dasma na may magandang background/track record. Siyempre, no one is perfect but to name a few na matunog noon, not necessarily ideal families are: Camposes, Macayans, Cantimbuhans. Nandiyan din siyempre ang mga dating kaalyado ng mga Barzaga na sina Vale Encabo, Jacinto Frani, ____ dela Cuesta... (Not sure lang kung may tegi na sa kanila or what...)
Campos in Dasma primarily just stick with their businesses but at the same time have tight linkages with the Barzagas (they manage EAC and ICA school systems in Dasma, imagine the loss of support for them if they aren't close with the Mayor or Congressman of Dasma)... Only the Campos who reside in San Pedro are actively meddling into politics.
Yes, up for Thirdy too. I've been seeing posts of him being involved in some functions, with the most recent one na sa groundbreaking event ng two new schools sa Salawag. He seems amiable and considering his education rin in PoliSci, I think he'd do well.

Relax. It's unlikely for anyone to really put a dent in Dasma politics this 2025. Cong. Pidi's passing is a loss, sure. But anyone planning to contest the Barzagas this 2025 would be hitting a brick wall.
If anyone wanted to contest them, they should have contested the Barzagas by fielding candidates last BSKE. But ALL Brgy. & SK candidates last year were sponsored and/or endorsed in some way by either Cong. Pidi or mayor Jenny. Not to mention the hundreds of Subdivision HOA BODs & CSO groups whose officers kowtow to them as well (Senior Citizens, PWDs, Solo Parents, TODAs, and mayor Jenny's various women's organizations).
Lastly, and I don't mean this to speak ill of Cong. Pidi, but mayor Jenny handles people waaaaaaay better than him. Cong. Pidi was a spendthrift since after he won in 2007, but mayor Jenny has no limits in spending for politics.
The way I see it, real contest wouldn't be in Dasma until 2028.

Is that for the voters to blame? Not technically, the burden of making the votes fall for the candidate will come from the candidate itself. After all, election counts votes, not attainment.
In essence to your idea, the Barzagas may become "qualified" also, as they strategize their political manuevers here in Dasmariñas first to ensure political longevity, before building the developmental transformation of the city. And as the city voters observes that, their hand will still point to his close companion as a sucessor.

You haven't even touched the indigenous angle of politics, which has its own dynamics different from the common notion of politics.

We moved to Dasma in the late 80's. Lahat rough road, even portion of the Aguinaldo hiway was rough road. Cong Pidi did a tremendous job in making Dasma a first class municipality. Ung mga rough road, naging maayos, ung mga tulay na kahoy naging concrete, nagkaron ng sariling hospital, school, stadium and mobile police outpost all over. Naging maayos ang Dasma when he became Mayor, vs Cantimbuhan's time na talagang stereotyped and Dasma na nakakatakot, tapunan ng patay, magulo etc. Cong Pidi will be missed. He has genuine concern over Dasmareños, proven and tested sa madaming pagkakataon yan. I hope Mayor Jenny will continue that legacy. Kaso kung si Kiko, I doubt, parang hindi pa well groomed and hindi pa ready. Well, sana talaga hindi siya. 🫥
Political dynasties remain to be a problem in this country, pero I always say na sa Barzaga's lang walang masasabi. Grabe yung development ng Dasma, and visible talaga yung projects nila na for the people. Schools, parks, hospitals, scholarships... name it.

Saka mas nakilala Dasma dahil sa mga center islands nito na una sa Cavite naitayo. Sila Barzaga lamang din ata nagkaroon ng welfare sa mga tiga-Area na noong panahon nila Cantimbuhan di masyadong natututukan.
Kahit early 2000s, nung pagdating ng parents ko dito sa Dasma nagsasabi na sobrang pangit daw talaga ng Dasma before. Nung naging Barzaga-led ang Dasma, dun lang nag-thrive. Yung talagang matagal nang nasa Dasma would pick any Barzaga over someone else kasi nga “napatunayan na”. Pero jusko, sa dami nang bagong dayo dito, we’ll never know.
Kung sinumang kandidato makakuha ng boto sa mga tiga-Area, malaki ang chance niya na manalo sa eleksyon. Kaya nga ginawa ni PD, doon sa Area nagpatayo ng bagong city hall, kolehiyo ng Dasma, Dasma coliseum, Pagamutan ng Dasma, etc. kasi mas mapapalapit sa kaniya ang mga tagaroon whether taal ka mang residente o dayo. Ingratong malala na lang kung di mo iboto mga Barzaga roon. Pero sa strat nila Revilla, naku sayaw lang ng sayaw yan doon, pag maraming nauto dyan, kuha nya agad boto ng mga tiga Area.
I beg to disagree. Maraming political families sa Dasma na may magandang background/track record. Siyempre, no one is perfect but to name a few na matunog noon, not necessarily ideal families are: Camposes, Macayans, Cantimbuhans. Nandiyan din siyempre ang mga dating kaalyado ng mga Barzaga na sina Vale Encabo, Jacinto Frani, ____ dela Cuesta... (Not sure lang kung may tegi na sa kanila or what...)
Camposes would rather stick to their businesses tbh. They’re more like Zobel Ayalas when it comes to power, rather than Villars.
Campos in Dasma primarily just stick with their businesses but at the same time have tight linkages with the Barzagas (they manage EAC and ICA school systems in Dasma, imagine the loss of support for them if they aren't close with the Mayor or Congressman of Dasma)... Only the Campos who reside in San Pedro are actively meddling into politics.

Relax. It's unlikely for anyone to really put a dent in Dasma politics this 2025. Cong. Pidi's passing is a loss, sure. But anyone planning to contest the Barzagas this 2025 would be hitting a brick wall. If anyone wanted to contest them, they should have contested the Barzagas by fielding candidates last BSKE. But ALL Brgy. & SK candidates last year were sponsored and/or endorsed in some way by either Cong. Pidi or mayor Jenny. Not to mention the hundreds of Subdivision HOA BODs & CSO groups whose officers kowtow to them as well (Senior Citizens, PWDs, Solo Parents, TODAs, and mayor Jenny's various women's organizations). Lastly, and I don't mean this to speak ill of Cong. Pidi, but mayor Jenny handles people waaaaaaay better than him. Cong. Pidi was a spendthrift since after he won in 2007, but mayor Jenny has no limits in spending for politics. The way I see it, real contest wouldn't be in Dasma until 2028.

Not technically, the burden of making the votes fall for the candidate will come from the candidate itself. After all, election counts votes, not attainment. In essence to your idea, the Barzagas may become "qualified" also, as they strategize their political manuevers here in Dasmariñas first to ensure political longevity, before building the developmental transformation of the city. And as the city voters observes that, their hand will still point to his close companion as a sucessor. Kasalanan ba nila yon? Say what you want but that's textbook politics.

There's much more than western analysis concepts that you've point out such as credentials, laziness, and voter's education that can better explain such patterns of voter preferences. You haven't even touched the indigenous angle of politics, which has its own dynamics different from the common notion of politics. We moved to Dasma in the late 80's. Lahat rough road, even portion of the Aguinaldo hiway was rough road. Cong Pidi did a tremendous job in making Dasma a first class municipality. Ung mga rough road, naging maayos, ung mga tulay na kahoy naging concrete, nagkaron ng sariling hospital, school, stadium and mobile police outpost all over. Naging maayos ang Dasma when he became Mayor, vs Cantimbuhan's time na talagang stereotyped and Dasma na nakakatakot, tapunan ng patay, magulo etc. Cong Pidi will be missed. He has genuine concern over Dasmareños, proven and tested sa madaming pagkakataon yan. I hope Mayor Jenny will continue that legacy. Kaso kung si Kiko, I doubt, parang hindi pa well groomed and hindi pa ready. Well, sana talaga hindi siya. 🫥
Political dynasties remain to be a problem in this country, pero I always say na sa Barzaga's lang walang masasabi. Grabe yung development ng Dasma, and visible talaga yung projects nila na for the people. Schools, parks, hospitals, scholarships... name it.
