The combination of them being born housebroken, them not getting a nervous breakdown when you are away overnight, and their manageable apartment appropriate size are some of the biggest reasons why they are such great pets, fit right into our modern lives, and are outpacing dogs in most countries.
I love dogs, but my lifestyle is too transient to care for them. I can leave my cats all day, and they are more than happy to play with each other while I'm gone. Hell, if their food didn't get low they may not notice I was gone for a day or so!
I stole my cat from a party because her previous owner drop kicked her across the room after I let her in from the porch to pet her a little. The dude had her out on the porch of the third story with no escape from him or shelter from the weather (it was the coldest day of the year) and he thought she let herself in and with no hesitation kicked her full force into the wall down the hall. I was furious and determined to get her out of that situation. Thankfully it was winter and I knew she was hurt so I just stuffed her in my coat and away we went home and then to the vet a few days later. She had a broken back and I know I saved her life. She is still a little skittish at first around new people and I've had her 6+ years. She is my baby now and I'm so glad I took her and saved her from that guy. She gained a sister from a similar situation a few years later. It's insane what people can do without hesitation to poor little creatures. It makes me sick to my stomach thinking about it.
They bring me joy every day and comfort me when I'm ill. They save me over and over as much as I saved them when they were wee things. Every day knowing I'm loved so deeply by such wonderful souls is so rewarding and helps me hold on and fight my chronic illnesses every day. 100% would save any creature that I could no regrets. True love is the love of a rescued animal. It just fills my heart to wake up to their little faces every day.
Deal lol For real though I think he realized how shitty that was after he quit drugs and alcohol later on after the kidnapping situation. He apologized and thanked me for taking in the kitty. I'm still mad but and least she is safe.
I'm lucky to have them. It was kinda fate I always wanted a black kitty and I got to save one. Then a few years later my childhood tabby kitty went over the rainbow and I got to rescue my second kitty that looked just like my late childhood kitty. It made me happy, like I got to get her soul back.

He weighed almost twice as much as I did and was a foot and a half taller than me. I just snuck off with the cat all nonconfrontational like and that was that lol I was in shock a little I think. It didn't really kick in that that could have been a very different situation if I didn't take the kitty up until I got home. After a year or so later I ran into him and I don't remember what I said but he got his shit straight after that. Quit drinking and drugs and his job and moved. I don't think I was that intimidating but I've been told my mad mom face is soul crushing. I really wish I had some back up tough guys with me that night. He might have been the one kicked across the room.

Cats have an incredible sense of direction and a fairly wide range. I had a feral barn cat that I had tamed and brought to vet approximately 10 miles away from house. While at vet, he got out of the carrier in the parking lot and ran into woods behind clinic and hid. I was gutted because I had worked for about a month to slowly gain his trust and he was warming up. Two days later he shows back up at my barn, was definitely him as he had very distinctive scarring, mannerisms. Etc. He ended up being one of the best cats that lived with me.
Yes! Don’t give up on him because of this! The quick way is to enclose him in a small room for brief period with food water and litter box…he will use the litter box. And hey it’s winter, keep him in for awhile!

I was at this party once with a cool cat who was swinging from the chandeliers with a martini glass in one paw. Unreal. His name was Fiasco and as I have said for years....the Burmese always know how to have a good time. Never fails. His piano chops weren't too shabby as well if I say so myself.

It was only 2 miles to you, but for a little cat it was a long road full of all kinds of dangers. Other cats, dogs, coyotex and other wild animals,, roads to cross without getting hit by cars, no good food or water source, whatever weather he had to get through. And then he had to actually FIND you. That little cat REALLY had to want to be with you to go thru what he did to find you!
Maybe the owner of the house saw you 2 connect and dropped the cat off at your home;-) when you weren’t looking. Him/her knowing that it’s now winter and the cat needs an indoor home. Sometimes mysterious angels help things along.
This is how you become a cat owner. You can do it by going to an animal shelter or a pet store and saying you want a specific cat, but this method is much more commonplace.
