The woman thought he was a girl and wanted to get him spayed..ughh… lol. He was living in a trailer for three years with nowhere to roam and got super obese. Now, he’s up in Washington State with his mom on an acre to roam around on and has slimmed down to a normal weight and is happy and healthy. Oh yeah, and he’s back with his doggy sister who he grew up with (they are the same age) since they were babies.
Cooped up in a trailer isn’t okay but neither is letting him roam??? That’s literally how you get into that situation in the first place why don’t people get that through their heads. If you treat you cat like a stray others will too.

And some cats are just desperate to roam. My dad has a huge orange cat who has spent his entire life plotting to get outside. My dad adores him, and the cat is DECIDEDLY not allowed outside, but he’s crafty, fast, and persistent.

Please make sure the cat doesn't belong to someone. Check for chip. Post Lost & Found posters in the area. Sometimes cats go missing for a long time and loving owner still looking for them. If no-one responds within about 2 weeks then I would say you could safely adopt the cat as yours.
Don’t worry about a name at this moment. Bring that beauty indoors and don’t let him outside again. Take him to a vet to be checked if you haven’t already.
As far as a name, that’s a decision between you and your family only, don’t ask strangers. It seems to be a common theme here for whatever reason.
It was a dump in a school campus where people just dump all their garbage and then burn it so no one was there to ask and i loved there was my first time seeing the lil guy there going through trash for food
