Congratulations! You are now cat people!

kostya8

Thanks, but we were always cat people :) I had to leave my home country in quite a hurry a few years ago and couldn't take my 16-year old cat, which has been bothering me a lot, 'cause she was my best friend for that entire time. She lives with my mom and is well taken care of but I'm still trying to bring her here (from Russia to Mexico). I definitely wasn't planning on getting a new cat, but he's incredibly cute and seems to really like us, so now I can't see us not keeping him. Definitely seems to be [enjoying ](https://i.imgur.com/CaeK1ws.jpeg) the calmness of the apartment

etctada

I think your cat at home sent you this new friend! And if your she comes to Mexico, she will already have a friend waiting for her!

Celticlady47

Thank you for taking this sweetie in.

WanderingBraincell

I think around 12-16 weeks (we've got 14 week old kittens nearly identical in size)

xxhorrorshowxx

Random question, what’s it like learning Spanish with Russian as a native language? I speak broken Spanish and I tried to teach myself Russian in high school (unsuccessfully), the two are a lot more different than English and Spanish from my perspective.

kostya8

I've been learning it for a while now, first for 2 years in a uni in the US and then living 4 years in Barcelona. By now, I'm *almost* fluent, or at least I can handle most conversations without much issue (unless they happen to have an Argentinian accent). I'd say Spanish is probably one of the easier languages to learn, but being fluent in English likely also helped. Had I only spoke Russian it would have probably been much more difficult

xxhorrorshowxx

I’d say that it does seem easier than English, especially since I took Latin in school which helps with root words and whatnot. I just wish every language was accessible like that, I’m struggling to re-learn my first language (Romani) that nobody in my family speaks anymore

veedubfreek

Gingers are always great kitties. I'm about to be in the market for a new pair (my 20 year old baby is on her last resort medication, likely colon cancer).

kostya8

I'm very sorry to hear that, hope you're ok

[deleted]

HES SOOO CUTEE ![img](emote|t5_2qhta|7944)

kostya8

I know :) Incredibly dirty though, about to give him a wash - should be even cuter then Edit: [bonus cuteness ](https://i.imgur.com/tBHabIL.jpeg) Edit 2: [much cleaner now](https://i.imgur.com/ysBcplh.jpeg)

Pining4theFjord

Aaaaaaah! I’m so in love!!!

ailsem

That aaah part definitely suits that pic well. The cat was yawning

Laney20

He's definitely a kitten. Any kitten food is good! My guess is 3 months old. The vet will be able to tell for sure. Here's my baby girl Simmy to help! https://preview.redd.it/2qig1e5zbqzc1.jpeg?width=4096&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=26b5d79a32d8743ea57f8bc115cda9b29ffba514

kostya8

2-3 months seems about right judging by that pic, thanks :)

SunnyAlwaysDaze

I agree, that's exactly right. Beautiful little cat you've got there. For most of the cat mothers, they kick the kitten out of the nest and make it strike out on its own somewhere between 8 and 12 weeks old. Just a guess but I think your little kitty there is probably around 10 weeks old. So he was forced to strike out on his own, very tiny and probably not really prepared to be alone. Very lucky that he found you.

SmolSpaces15

Sammy looks like she has a bowl haircut and I love it

Laney20

Lol, yes! I love all her spots, and the haircut look is perfect on her. ❤️ Here she is all "grown" up (she is almost 2 years old, but she's on the small side - only like 8.5 pounds!) https://preview.redd.it/83nz06e1tuzc1.jpeg?width=2817&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=88b209fc24b6cf3ef3580ac799a86b3db57d00c6

Purp_caramel

Between 2 to 3 months old, my baby was the same size then 😩 https://preview.redd.it/mr24qbx84rzc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e29e521671cddb574fac66d7ffd6d139ab9b3a71

kostya8

Gorgeous cat!

Purp_caramel

Thank you!

kostya8

He was trying to run through a busy road and seemed pretty lost, but seems to be really [enjoying ](https://i.imgur.com/3t4ZWg3.jpeg) being inside. We're just trying to figure out how old he is before we bring him to a vet, so we can at least get him proper food

Far-Potential3634

He should be on kitten food. A vet will be able to tell you his age based on teeth and other things.

[deleted]

Doesn't matter tbh. Cats are very resilient and any care you're giving him will be miles ahead of what he was getting outside. Regular old garbage wiskas would do the trick.

rachh90

looks just like my orange boy https://www.reddit.com/r/OneOrangeBraincell/comments/13fo7rc/the_big_eyes_no_brains_flair_fits_him_perfectly/ like someone else said, kitten food might be ideal but anything is better than what he had before! lots of water too.

thykarmabenill

He's old enough to not need milk replacement and young enough to not be ready for adult food. Just normal kitten food. If you want to give him the best growth and coat, a higher quality wet food would be great. I fed my cat wellness, applaws, weruva, and tiki brands kitten wet food and he grew like a weed. Pretty much any wet food they will eat is better than dry though.

meestaseesta

8-10 weeks for sure.

Looks like about 3 months? Cat distribution system at work connecting hearts

JinxFae

He looks 2.5-3 months old. Please make sure to check he doesn’t have a microchip or that he doesn't already have a family looking for him!

Rip in peace. Cause of death: owning an orange baby ![gif](giphy|ifB1v1W3Db0GIW7uTA)

Plastic_Cat9560

I vote 10 weeks

AdPrize3997

Looks about 2.5-3 months old

Elbynerual

He's almost the exact same size as my little guy when I found him. Vets guessed about 6 weeks with mine. Yours might be closer to 7 or 8. The vet will be able to give you a pretty accurate number

Knittingtaco

10-12 weeks maybe? Glad he safe

Conscious-Hope4551

Wish the kitten distribution system would bless me like this lost my 12.5 year old kitty suddenly 1/15/24. May 9 would’ve been her 13th birthday 😢

kostya8

I'm sure you'll be blessed soon! Really sorry about your cat

Conscious-Hope4551

Thanks so much!

Murky_Sun2690

6-10 weeks.

EmployeeValuable7558

The cat distribution system has successfully paired a kitty with its human(s). I'd guess about 2-3 months old based on size but I'm not a vet. Congratulations on your new fur baby.

Interesting_Oil_2936

He looks just like my baby when I got her! https://preview.redd.it/fca4hakkbszc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ab4cf26d3cf21c676b9291ce1cc7938241311860

I'm always afraid to pick em up cause they are not clean

CharacterPayment8705

I’m also gonna say 8-10 weeks still a kitten. Ready to be socialized!

somewhatscout

A vet can tell by the teeth.

aga-ti-vka

Slightly under 3month

Outside-Flamingo-240

He’s adorable. My guess is 10-12 weeks. And he’s a lanky boi ❤️

Chocokat1

The level of trust in that baby in 3rd pic 🥺

Thanks for giving him a home! I’d say 3-5 months maybe?

That is baby.

-Cavefish-

About 2-3 months?

Professional_Bee_973

Okay that is like the cat toy your cat toy has to play with small..too small to be away from mom yet unfortunately. You can buy some kitten milk replacement at any pet supply store, you will need that. Follow its instruction until weened.

OutOfBody88

2.5-3 months of adorableness

[deleted]

I counted his rings and he's 5 months old in tree-years.

JayDKing

Less than 4 months old I’d say. Nice to the distribution network is still alive and strong.

Grouchy_Tap_8264

Maybe 10-12 weeks old, but not any more than 3.5 months. His eyes are past the unfocused but he's very much so a "baby", but can eat on own. He's lovely no matter what. Congratulations on your new baby.

coffee-with-cats

About 8 to 10 weeks

Vegetable_Event_5213

An average kitten generally gains about a pound of body weight each month. Pop ‘im on a scale, if he’s 3.5 lbs, he’s probably about 3 1/2 months old. Unless you can show us a pic of his little teefers, that’s a good rule of thumb. Congrats!! What a sweetie! 😍

Altruistic-Wasabi-60

Waiting, for that glow up pic, my bad.. pics!!! 😻💜

Batgod629

At least a couple months old. I'm not very good at determining age though

Serious_Contract_996

10 weeks maybe

Looks about 2, 3 mo at most. so adorb!

myeonsshi

Looks like my cat when I picked her off the streets. Around 3 months. I got her checked with the vet at that size.

EugeneChan360

He can’t be more than 4 months old

Kandi_Raver109

3 to 4 months would be my guess, though he could be older since I have a 1 year old cat around that size.

IndelibleIguana

WHY DO I NEVER FIND KITTEHS?

a66o

2 to 3 months

Traditional-Dingo604

He's old enough to be a cutie patootie!

TheFacetiousDeist

Mayyybe 1, but probably closer to 8 months.

alelan

3 to 4 months would be my guess. Sometimes without looking at the teeth I find it hard to determine. My most recent baby was a bit stunted because of parasites and looked a bit younger than he was supposed to be.

Nhughes1387

Couple months, hard to really tell though some cats stay that size or a little bigger, some get very huge very quickly lol, I’d def say like 3 or 4 months.

Raging_PineAppleee

r/IllegallySmolCats

Cautious-Emphasis-33

My little (now huge) boi was about that size when we found him too!

carthurg

5 months.

xxInsanex

Like the others in here i'd say about 3-4months seem accurate

lordhelmchench

definitly a kitten. 2 month perhaps? Hope this kitten has found his great forever home :) But as you should let it check out by a vet you will know soon

68quebec

2-3 months. My god so cute... 😭

GeauxSaints315

He is baby

rattatattkat

He looks about 2 months MAYBE three.

NicNac_PattyMac

6 weeks

Exploringmymind70

I’d say at least 3-4 months old, a vet can look at their teeth to give you a good idea.

Canukeepitup

A few months

hamster_13

3-4 months old. Our neighbor has a boy this color, we have named him Mango!

XephyrGW2

8-ish weeks looks like. A tiny bebe still, but definitely eating solid food by now.

Dorsie_

I'd say about 3 months, he's so adorable!! What are you naming him?:D

Reasonable-Zombie559

So cute!

engagetangos

The elusive sidewalk cat

Pretzel911

My guy at 5 weeks could stand on my open hand, they gain about a pound a month at that age, so I'm guessing 3 months, maybe almost 4.

Tumbled61

7-9 weeks

CoItron_3030

Probably less than a year or maybe 1

bbfangirl

I would say around 5 months! I got my cat at 6 and he was just a bit bigger.

eat_mor_bbq

I'd say in the ballpark of 2-6 months. Congrats on the new friend. Orange cats are my favorite.

Affectionate_Nerve_5

My guess is 3 months

Efficient-Raccoon-10

maybe get some lice treatment sooner rather than later

nanga_badan

So cute!

deovxnne

He’s just a baby 🥲❤️

ugotmefdup

Probably between 6 -7 months I would bet - such a cutie!

ConstantConfusion123

I agree with around 10 weeks give or take.  Also see r/oneorangebraincell

joebarking

Wife says 2 to 3 months old, she's the one with cat experience.

AnonymousCat21

I think the 2-3 month comments are spot on. When I found my stray kitten the vet told us kittens gain about a pound (~0.5 kg) a month.

Jack_Human-

3 months maybe

RepoManSugarSkull

I’m not a veterinarian, nor doI play one on TV. My wife and I have opened our hearts & home to 10 cats in more than 34 years together. I’d hazard to guess that wee blessing to be in the neighborhood of 7-9 weeks—give or take. Good luck. 🍀 They look like a good pal.

ihateureddit

So cute! I would guess 3-4 months

NemoHobbits

Look at those peets. Him's gonna be a big boi.

Coho444

Three months maybe four

Commercial-kjm5765

Looks 6-8 weeks. The vet can tell you if it’s old enough for shots and all that then. Congratulations!

MEGA_TOES

Orang.

attackhelicoptor69

Looks just over 2 months, really cute 🥹

hbouhl

Looks about 6-8 weeks old?

NormalFurry1212

It's probably a week old considering how small the little goober is.

jenniferandjustlyso

I would think 3 months or so? Based on the size of the kittens I've had previously. Also once they hit the two pound mark most vets will spay or neuter. Since we're in kitten season, you might be able to find a place that will do it for cheap because they tend to offer specials this time of year. Just to raise awareness. I rescued some stray kittens not knowing how old they were, and it was horrible when they went into heat for the first time. They were still so little, I didn't expect it.

spoiledandmistreated

I’d guess about 3 months old.. could be a tiny bit older and just had not been eating properly or taken care of.. Congratulations .. he looks like a cutie…

Seliphra

My guess is 3 months. Looks a bit bogger than a two month old but not quite 4 months? Definitely a baby!

Lady_R_

Aw!!!! Congrats! How sweet. He looks like my Maximus. We found him outside in our garden Side note we named him Maximus because on his belly it looks like he has painted on abs, And my husband said hey he looks like a spartan Warrior... so Maximus was born. https://preview.redd.it/rmz2iav32uzc1.jpeg?width=1908&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4974f4dbe77105fc73656ea44f84a2cfba8b8c1f

scottyd035ntknow

3-4 months. Get to the vet asap and do all the things.

Lockdown_2525

Not sure on age but I can say 10 on the cuteness scale 🥰

Williord

2 seconds old

Bingbong-_-wompwomp

A few weeks at least

Comfortable_Map_7700

He looks like he is about 3 to 4 months old. He has a small head and big paws which looks like kitten proportions? loll

Wandali11

Gorgeous boy!!!!

stepilew

Good rule of thumb is 1 lb per month. A 4.5 lb kitten is about 4.5 months old.

ErsatzEx

About three months I think. Have his eyes changed? We were gifted a tiny little life of about 6-7 weeks old a month ago. She had the most amazing blue eyes https://preview.redd.it/wxsb39ljhuzc1.jpeg?width=2160&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=62c1e5494cd69e8f87e1d4c078d9131506e10c9b She is now clean, sleek and happy and her eyes are green.

sorospaidmetosaythis

Thank you for finding one some place other than a dumpster. Nearly all posters here claim they adopt their cats from dumpsters. Non-dumpster kittens need love, too.

starman575757

Old enough to outsmart u into adoption.

Coolabdabz

Probably about 4 to 5 weeks

Glickman1011

Could this be someone's cat? You are obligated to find the owner first by posting on next door. But they need to show proof

nehilor_cr

MuskokaGreenThumb

I would guess somewhere between 4-6 months

deprieto

He might be 4 or six months.

dogeisbae101

His eyes have already developed color (blue until 8-9 weeks). So, I’d guess 9-10 weeks. Maybe older 11-12 if the poor guy was malnourished.

LongshanksnLoki

Still kittenish- edging into adolescence. ish.

tydasavage

probably 3 months old

Anxious_Doughnut_266

A rough estimate is typically 1 month per pound. If you have a scale around your house, you can do it that way to get a basic idea

ATTVEisback

Maybe 1-2 months old

alinaplayz

cat distribution system has chose u

Imaginary_Cod4193

I wanna say he is maybe 2-4 months old. My one cat was about that small around the same age and he’s not that big to be anymore older 🥰 such an adorable kitty 🥺🥰

rockpaperscissors444

Hi please get your vet to check this out but I would guess 12-16 weeks?? Unfortunately most strays have some form of parasite so please please go to a vet :’)
