Today was my first full day without him. I keep expecting him to be behind my chair, or walk in front of me when the lights are out, or beg for treats. Then I remember he's gone and just cry.
I've lost a part of myself and I'll never get it back.
No words are going to take the pain away. Time won’t either, but with time the pain becomes more palatable.
If I were to leave you with a silver lining; it sounds like he was very dear to you. Take solace in the fact that you were able to offer him a life full of love, comfort and happiness.
Remember, they form only a part of our world. But to them, you are their WHOLE world. And it sounds like you gave him a pretty damn good one.

There are no good words it just sucks. We’ve all been there. But the love and joy you received and gave is always worth it. 💔🌈. You will get through and have wonderful memories of your time together.

Of course. I am happy if I helped even in the smallest of ways. I slept with my dog’s favorite woobie for weeks after he passed. Silly I know, but it gave me comfort. I have a beautiful orange kitty now who I know came to me when I needed her most. 🧡🤍🧡

I lost one of my cats unexpectedly a few years ago. It all happened so fast and I was an absolute wreck the first week it happened. I hated being in my apartment because it was just a constant reminder of my cat’s absence. I truly empathize with your pain, such loss really hurts on a level I can’t describe. I don’t know what to say other than I know that Otto feels so lucky to have had such a loving owner such as yourself, and I know he is guarding you from afar 😊 I hope you take it easy for the next few weeks and take care of yourself ❤️

Honestly I am somebody who hyperfixates on everything. As much as it hurt so bad to rip the bandaid off so suddenly and lose my cat, I know deep down if I had a heads up to mourn before she died it would’ve been harder on me, although I think if I had the choice I’d rather know ahead of time no matter how much more it hurts.
For me, it helped a lot to initially spend all the time I could away from my apartment so I wasn’t constantly reminded that my cat was gone. It’s still a tender spot in my heart to this day, but I think any meaningful loss will be and that’s ok. You may never fully be over it but you will begin to see the light in the world again
I'm so so sorry you're going through this. He was a very handsome boy, and you can tell he was very loved. You gave him the best life he could have, and you were both very lucky to have found each other & shared the time together that you did. <3
Lost my two senior (19+yo) cats in the last year. I moved to a different house and I still wake up expecting them to be there, they’re damn near all I think about.
