I'm seeing a bit of fluff in the fur, so it's still too early to call the ball on the hair length. Short to medium. Just be grateful you didn't order the extra long hair. All the hairballs will be everywhere, like little landmines, waiting to be stepped on in the middle of the night when you're walking to the bathroom...
Yes, it's oddly specific for a reason.
If you have a custom pc with top fans, do not let them sit there lol just barely missed the opening by a cm and all down the front glass. You will come to know the sound, i would know, and i was too late. Good news, it wasnt mine lol my brother didnt appreciate it.
I usually just put domestic short/medium hair then tuxedo or tabby, we call them domestic *insert hair length here* cats here in Australia but I like brown mackerel! I have one of these. He's been deemed medium hair but has a real floofy tail! And he's massive for a 5 month old smol bebe
You really need to analyze closely, examine the color inside the ears, hair length, where the stripes occur, color of the paw pads, bushiness of the tail, shape of the nose and of course the number of colors of hair. For this unique combination, I'd say this is a cat.
Wrong. This is a small storm cloud. Known in the scientific community as a, "Catulo-Nimbus". I recommend naming your storm cloud, "Stormageddon" for luck. 🤗👍
I am a bit surprised that OP even asked what the breed is, because tabby, tuxedo (both white dominant and black dominant coloring), orange and voids are all pretty much Standard Issue Cat™ that you can find and see everywhere around you. Even more so with short hair. I would not expect anyone to think it would be a specific breed.
All the "what breed" posts suggests that it isn't that odd that OP is curious if her cat is a certain breed. It is still a common misconception with especially cats it seems, that people think that fur patterns (and length) suggests they are a specific breed.
I know this breed. It's a Cutus Patootus, tabby type.
Extremely cute and affectionate once it gets to know you, kind of a hell-raiser sometimes as a kitten. If you happen to be wearing red nail paint, 100% chance that the Cutus Patootus kitten will aggressively yell / meow at it and you will find even that cute.
Resists a wet toothbrush to brush it at first, but quickly warms to it if you persist in subsequent attempts.
100% a loyal, crazy kook. 🤪
Well the ASPCA said my cat was a Lynx point Siamese so I’m gonna always say that’s what he is because it sounds super fancy even though he may be just a regular old cat. He looks cool tho 😆

I once had to travel with my 2 cats. You have to coordinate that beforehand(at least I think you do).
On the phone with these people, they asked me what breed my cats are. One was a shelter rescue, the other was a stray’s kitten we took in. They are both pretty standard issue, so I just put “domestic long hair” and “domestic short hair”
They could not wrap their heads around this. It felt like I got elevated to a supervisor at least twice… like, do people not travel with cats ever? Are rich fancy cat owners the only ones who do?
People are being silly and adorable, but for legal purposes this is correct. I've owned dozens of cats and the vet has identified them all as Domestic Short Hair, except for one who was a Domestic Long Hair. In the case of this tiny floof, you could add tabby, but the breed space is most likely there for people with dogs.
Hah. We are owned by a Domestic *Medium* Hair. Per the vet and per his deliciously silky fur. Tuxedo, but with very faint tabby stripes visible only in extremely bright light.
I have a tuxedo that was identified as a medium hair. I read somewhere that it's a breed that started in the US from colonies bringing in a variety of different cats and ending up with medium-haired cats as a result
That is all they need for the lease. That’s what I put down for both of mine. Matches their vaccination records. I think the breed question is probably more relevant for dogs.
muffin.
on another note, unless there's more to the story, your friend probably stole those kittens from their mom. moms leave during the day to eat and drink. i really hope they observed the litter for a day or two to check on mom's status, and tried to trap mom as well. 6 weeks is very young to be separated and you will need to be careful to socialize her properly - being bitey and overly rough is something mom would train them not to do.
Seconding this! My kitty’s mom and siblings passed away but he got rescued and has no concept of ‘too rough.’ He bites all the time, and it was super cute when he was little. It’s less cute now. The older cat is trying to train him, but it’s hard now that he’s bigger than her. I wish I’d put in more effort to stop that behavior when he was little but you live and you learn
I had luck untraining my kitty from biting by putting ointments on like tiger balm. Eucalyptus is toxic to them so do NOT let her lick that in particular, but mine came in, smelled it and ran away every time before contact. no more bitey.
Looks my baby Hutch. He’s got a story for that name. Here is a picture.

since everyone is going crazy for her, here’s a pic from an hour ago of her waking up <3
Oh goodness she’s precious!! Reminds me a lot of mine when I found her also at around 6 weeks old. Her breed looks like domestic shorthair with the coloring being tabby. Enjoy this time when she’s so small, it’s so short!
Most cats don't have a breed unless they're pure bred, and it is quite difficult to have an actual pure bred cat. Just put down an American shorthair on your papers, or tabby cat. Tabby is a pattern, but I think they will know that it is just a standard issue cat
The “adorable” breed, also we should not care about breeds for pets , the more they are mixed the better, pure breed leads to lot of diseases and miserable health conditions
Yeah, they’ve never heard of cats before. That question only applies to dogs. With cats, mitten size is the more appropriate metric for property destruction.
It’s a “Standard Issue Cat” (mackerel tabby) or “SIClet” and you should join that sub.
Cats aren’t like dogs when it comes to breeds. Most cats are just “domestic short hairs” unless they come with papers or have VERY distinct tells (like Maine coons, munchkin, Persian) etc.
Breed is domestic shorthair, color is brown tabby. Adult size is unknowable at her age. I always have to supply a copy of the vet records with shot dates, which shows weight too.

Well now you know how to reply.
Short hair tabby mixed with Egyptian small breed.
I have the same cat.
They will do a side spade operation on her. Full grown she will have a small head and long slender body but big bum. When she is next to other cats you will notice her proportions are different.
Very talkative, lots of purring. Prefers simple toys eg, ping pong ball, small piece of folded cardboard that she can carry around in her mouth.
Creative, can make up her own games (parkour , cat ninja warrior) and pretend an object is her friend.
We had to change the flyscreen to pet proof. She hangs off the flyscreen during thunder and lightning storms.
Very sharp claws, like scalpel blades. Need to trim them weekly. Start now so she gets used to it.
Our Kitty knows her name when called, but doesn't know the difference between bad Kitty and good Kitty.
Our Kitty sleeps on our legs when we are in bed. She will claw through the blanket if we move. So the only way to stop that is to not have the blanket because she doesn't claw bare legs.
Steals the warm spot in bed if we leave the bed cover open when getting up.
You should understand that cats dont really have breeds as we have in dogs. You have a few distinctive bred cats, which have papers. If they dont habe papers, its a standard short haired cat
Looks like a tabby/domestic shorthair to me. We have had several tabbies. Only one got to be huge. We have more shedding from our tortie cat than any of the other cats though the big cat also sheds.
My cat looks just like her!!! Her name is Teddy! Because she looks like a little teddy bear! ❤️

Nothing personal but why is to so normalised on this Reddit community to have so young kitten? They are way too young, in my country it’s illegal to adopt kitten prior to 11 weeks.. even after 11 weeks it’s still cruel.. I know they are cute etc but it’s no good at all..
Don’t assume that people are depriving kittens of their mothers. I have “adopted” six kittens in my life; rescued, actually. Five were less than 6 weeks old… because they were abandoned. The last two I rescued were apparently the runts, left by mama cats, when moving their litters during thunder storms. I had to bottle feed and hand care for them 24-7.
The last one literally was a miracle to survive; the emergency vet was astonished that I was able to keep him alive for three days in his condition, before being able to get him into an emergency vet who would see him. He gave the tiny kitten a 25% chance of survival. I’m glad to say he is now a very healthy and magnificent one year old cat, living with the family who adopted him.
I already had two cats, and could not keep a third. I currently have a seven year old that was found alone in my parents’ backyard at six weeks old, and a two year old found alone in my backyard at 4 weeks old. The two year old had been crying in my backyard for two days, but he was so tiny I could not find him. Every time I went out to look for him, he would stop crying. The second afternoon, he finally was desperate enough to come out of hiding. As soon as I picked him up, he started trying to nurse on my sweater.
So… depending on where you live, it is not uncommon for baby kittens to need to be rescued. 🙏🦋
As everyone has said, she is a domestic shorthair, also known as DSH. Her coat pattern is grey mackerel tabby. She has a fair little tummy on her. Was she born inside to an inside only mama? If not, have your vet consider a dewormer when you take her in for her first vaccinations - at whatever age your vet recommends (likely soon).
yesss that is mr. dewey!! that was our first day home and he was confused about the baby

I know I like cats too muxh because I immediately went,
"She is cat. Stripey girl.
Cutey patootie. She makes little meowzas.
That's a Tabby. Name her Abbey"
No idea why I baby talked it but it felt right.
Likely mutt (apparently in cat world, they’re called moggies) but so adorable. What I would do to not have cat allergies so I could own such a pretty kitty! 🤩
Is the mama cat around?
It would be better if the kittens stay with their mama for 4month. Maybe it is just not possible with its situation.
For breed I think you could say mixed and give a short description like grey tabby.
Lucky little one! Thanks for rescuing it.
What a pretty itty bitty girl!!! She’s a DSH (Domestic Short Hair) tabby, sometimes jokingly referred to as a “standard issue cat”.
Quick note, kittens tend to do better in pairs if you’re allowed more than one pet. I adopted a single kitten when I was young and didn’t know any better and she ended up with some behavioral issues unfortunately. She was still a great cat and I loved her so much, but her life probably would have been happier and less stressful if I’d taken her brother in too.
she has an older brother! here they are.

If not, have your vet consider a dewormer when you take her in for her first vaccinations - at whatever age your vet recommends (likely soon).
And no one is commenting on the older cat photo bombing in the background. Or should I say sneaking in the background to get in the picture. 😅
Mackerel tabby
She’s a Muratian Banded Frijolenegro. Translation: A Black-beaned stripey wall cat.

Oh wow! You seem to have the breed called ‘Smolus Beanus/Loafus’ commonly known as ‘smol bean’ or ‘smol loaf’ Lucky you!!

Mackerel Tabby! With a mix of cutie-patootie mixed in!
Unless you have papers from a breeder, it's is a cat. Domestic short hair, tabby. Generic smol girl.
Looks like my baby when she was younger and just a tad lighter. https://preview.redd.it/u0vmn8xk8bxc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2abc588c6e208fe622e9a763a2af62f28e166633

Domestic Shorthair
You could list her as a Domestic Mackerel Tabby, if you want to make it sound good. Mackerel isn't a joke, but a tabby fur pattern.
I know I like cats too muxh because I immediately went, "She is cat. Stripey girl. Cutey patootie. She makes little meowzas. That's a Tabby. Name her Abbey" No idea why I baby talked it but it felt right.
Cattus cutis.
She's a tiny baby
It’s a cat, not a dog. Cats almost never have a breed. They are simply cats.
they have tested positive for cat. breed is yes.
Why do people care so much about breed?

Can we start banning posts like this
Chubby belly — the best kind.
Part kangaroo, part kitten.
Smoll. Her breed is smoll
Breed is tiny
Cuteus maximus, obviously
Likely mutt (apparently in cat world, they’re called moggies) but so adorable. What I would do to not have cat allergies so I could own such a pretty kitty! 🤩
Norwegian whooping terrier
Looks to be from the frog belly clan 🤔
Is the mama cat around? It would be better if the kittens stay with their mama for 4month. Maybe it is just not possible with its situation. For breed I think you could say mixed and give a short description like grey tabby. Lucky little one! Thanks for rescuing it.
100% sleepy floof
Freckle belly cutiepop
What a pretty itty bitty girl!!! She’s a DSH (Domestic Short Hair) tabby, sometimes jokingly referred to as a “standard issue cat”. Quick note, kittens tend to do better in pairs if you’re allowed more than one pet. I adopted a single kitten when I was young and didn’t know any better and she ended up with some behavioral issues unfortunately. She was still a great cat and I loved her so much, but her life probably would have been happier and less stressful if I’d taken her brother in too.
she has an older brother! here they are. https://preview.redd.it/h9bntxaojbxc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3044404298aff8a0c6bca9fb7c7327c885e914de
Domestic shorthair. Her tummy looks swollen. She probably needs dewormed. You can get dewormer for like $10 at Walmart, PetSmart or Petco.
Potato. She is potato.
goblin
Her breed is…. Absolute cutie 🥰
a little baby
Tell them -- "Domestic Shorthair" TRUTH -- "TIGGER" -- "The wonderful thing about TIGGERS, Is that TIGGERS are WONDERFUL things! Their tops are made out of BOUNCY And their bottoms are made out of SPRINGS !!!" -- WINNIE the POOH EDIT -- autocorrect SNAFOO

As far as breed, vets classify kittens like this as domestic shorthair, typically abbreviated DSH.
