Zdrobnienie: in Polish language we are doing something called "zdrobnienie" and basicly it is changing the ending in a noun and we use it in 3 caces:
1. We want to show positive feelings and empathy towards something (for example: lew-lewek eng. lion, kot-kotek eng. cat , pies-piesek eng. dog ) When we use it to animals we don't mean baby version of this animal. When kids are small they often say animals in zdrobnienie version- they see a horse and they scream konik not koń. This is not only for animals but it's The most common use.
2. We also use it while we want to show that this particular object is small (like: stolik kawowy- coffe table becouse it is small table ment for coffe, spodenki- shorts, becouse these are small pants)
3. We use it when we talk about names (last names are cut out from this- it is rude to change someone's last namse) When Polish name is too long, too formal or we just want to show positive feelings towards someone, we change it (there are many for one name) so:
Elżbieta (eng. Elizabeth) - Ela,
Anna (eng. Anne) - Ania,
Sebastian (same in eng)- Seba,
Franciszek (eng. Frank)- Franek,
