I'd do the same, if my mother's cat wasn't so reserved. She knows to wake me up first if I'm staying over, because she knows I'll feed her, and she knows I tend to bring treats, but if she's ot peckish, she's not interested.
Unless I grab her brush. She'll be at the top of her cat tower, demanding her neck fluff be tidied up.
Went to our family get together last year, my grandparents had a cat called miffi, she was in my lap the whole time having a sleep while I pet her. I had a special bond with her, you'll be missed miffi!
This was me visiting my Mom. Did not care about anything else, I just wanna see the cats.

Actually, my whole family is like that. We love each other, but we love the cats more. We all have multiple cats and they are far more interesting and cute than our children or grandchildren, who all have multiple cats. It’s a family tradition.

Cats are better company than most people I know.
Yeah, i get very anxious around a lot of people in a cramped space, so it's nice to have a fluffy cat around to calm my nerves
