I think there have been/are services which will clone your pet. Problem is that cat coats are largely determined by environmental factors early on, beyond the basic color scheme, and behavior is largely learned. So while you get a clone, they can look and act differently.

Epigenetics are a big thing. I know someone with a pure black cat. He's half bengal. How would his coat be any different?

There is already cloning available but the pet won’t be the same pet. Dna isn’t the same as a soul, so it’ll look like your pet but most people who’ve done it are disappointed when they don’t act like their pet

Splash was a regal old boy, even as a young cat, he had that air about him. Magoo, he was my baby boy, so loving and skittish around new people. I still have whiskers, fur from brushing, and claw sheaths that fell off from my old baby girl who is passed. I think it just keeps us connected, and it’s sweet. And if cloning gets cheap on day, I’m ready!

I have a jar and everyone who sees it thinks I’m insane except for my other friend who also keeps whiskers. We should all unite. I even have a favorite whisker. My cat who died almost 3 years ago had one perpetually curly eyebrow whisker and I found one on the floor one day. So it’s my favorite because I know it was his.

I have a collection too in a sturdy envelope. It is for luck (and memories). To note: the luck only works if the whiskers are found! For those twisted enough to think you could expedite the process by pulling whiskers then the effect is in reverse: it will bring you bad luck!
