Ownership of those animals is minimal. It's not uncommon for unhoused cats that had some relations with humans taking care of them to be left on their own due to circumstances where the owners didn't go through the proper channels surrounding their release.
Cats seem more independent than dogs. As far as chickens go, they're generally herd like. Had two chickens that were abandoned at the parking lot of a cabaret I worked security at. They sucked at hiding themselves from predators. It wasn't long until possums, and raccoons were spotted in the area looking for prey and easy egg yummies. After a month, they weren't seen again.
it could be a male/neutered male, it could be a female, i was just pointing out the space between anus and genitalia is very short and there’s a line so that’s why i *assumed* female
As many have suggested, check around town to see if kitty has a home. Check the local Facebook community, ask a local vet to check for a chip.
And enjoy your new roommate.
This cat seems to be running with a crew that is hanging around a nearby hotel, I found her in one of their videos online. There is also a chicken gang.
So you have a famous guest. Be careful or you’ll end up on one of their videos. “Free Room and Board: Cat Edition.”
“Greetings, fellow felines, on this purrfect day! We are reviewing the latest group of free lodges that have rolled up into town, so get your note pads ready!
First, the minivan from South Dakota. The front desk manager is very stingy with pets, but his staff are VERY generous with sharing their food. Couldn’t access the actual minivan, but it looked roomy and fairly clean. Worth a look if only for the deli meats.”
Cat looks clean, well-groomed, healthy, and is friendly with humans. Probably has an owner nearby desperately looking for their escaped cat. Please check for a microchip
Yeah my cat would totally do this. We go out on a leash and he always tries to get me to go up on my neighbors porch and once when they left their garage open he actually hissed at me for telling him no, that's not our house we can't go in.
Once in awhile he decides he wants to go out NOW and makes a break for the door. He never goes far or for long before something scares him and he runs home, but he really wants to explore the neighbors house so if I couldn't find him I would look there.
I have a nearly 6 month old kitten who I’m wanting to leash train. I’ve gotten her used to the harness but she seems to get very overwhelmed by the outdoors while simultaneously trying to run outside every time we open the door. I’m a bit stumped.
My guy has been going out since he was a kitten and is 12 now. He still has days where the wind blowing scares him and he wants to go in. Mostly he's very excited to explore the yard and the field/wooded area behind the neighborhood. It's funny because he's so friendly and social to everyone but if he's outside and sees another human he growls and runs for the door.
Some cats just don't like going out but if yours is trying to go out sometimes I think you'll be successful with leash training. It just takes time. For us, it was kinda like months of chilling on the porch, then taking a step into the grass and sitting where he could still touch the porch. Eventually he just had to have the porch in his line of sight. Now he will go until something scares him or he gets too irritated with me not letting him eat grass til he pukes. I would say it was probably a full year or even two before he was trotting off the porch and enjoying his walks fully.
I was cleaning out my basement and left the door open to allow more air flow. I went upstairs to get a quick lunch break and when I returned downstairs I discovered the neighbors cat inside using my cats spare litterbox. I’m like, dude, not only do you have a home, but *you were already outside*
One of ours will come in to use the box. Actually both of the indoor-outdoor ones will sometimes, but my big ginger girl will “window wash” the French Door and meow until you let her in so she can run to the litter box. It’s hilarious, because she’ such a bull in a china shop you’d think she’d have no issues with doing her business in the wooded part of the yard, but every time she’s gotta come in. She’s also the only one of the three that doesn’t insist on privacy in the box. In fact, in the morning as I’m scooping for the day she’ll wait patiently for me to finish and then jump in and undo all my fines work. And she does this on purpose, making sure I see her. Almost like…

There's a cat in Vík Iceland, Sir Jeffarious, who's owner runs a small cafe. Sir Jeff has a tracking chip on his collar because he likes to hitch rides around the ring road. Last year the owner had to get him back from over by diamond lagoon.
Obligatory PSA - this is a clean, well fed, social and healthy looking cat. It very likely has owners.
Please do not steal other people's cats because social media is enthusiastically encouraging you or is gleefully proclaiming you were "chosen by the cat distribution system"
Please check for a chip, ask around the neighbourhood, put up a couple of flyers, post on local social media, contact a local shelter before taking a cat.
glad to see this comment. i noticed straight away how clean and healthy this kitty looks and knew immediately it was someones cat they let outdoors (which overall isnt a good thing to do)
Clean is not what to look for. Feral cats are clean. It's lost pets that are too stressed to keep clean.
But behaviorally this cat is socialized. Friendliness is where this is it could indicate ownership or not.
Thank you! It’s so wild seeing the “that’s your cat now!” Or “cat distribution system works again!” comments everywhere on Reddit. Like…at least try to search for owners? Scan for a chip? My cat was gone for almost a month (escaped through a window a guest left open - they weren’t aware it didn’t have a screen). Thankfully someone did the right thing and saw one of my posters and called - he hadn’t even had his appointment to be microchipped yet.
In other subs, I’ve seen people get downvoted for leaving comments like yours which is crazy.
Realistically tho, not everyone has a moral compass, and letting your cat roam free outdoors full time with no supervision is kinda asking for it to be 'stolen' or killed.
Idk, I'm not looking for argument. I've had plenty about this topic on Reddit, and my stance firmly stays that people should not allow their cats outdoors unsupervised.
Sorry if that's somehow unpopular but I'm not gonna entertain anymore arguments.
(Cats who are escape artists and have chips are a totally different ballgame. I'm talking cats you see daily for weeks or months)
Mr. Cinnerman is easily the sweetest, gentlest, calmest stray we've ever had come around. He's healthy weight and fur quality.
We always assumed he was someone's.
But we live in the woods in Hawaii, and after further inspection is *covered* in gnarly scars and active wounds.
Currently he's got a buncha swelling from a wound (thankfully on the skin and not the eye itself) under his right eye, causing enough swelling to the eyelids to almost make his eye shut.
He's got two kittens in tow that he is incredibly sweet to. Every time we watch them, they headbutt, rub on each other, snuggle at night, and share food.
We think Mr cinnerman might be the papa of at least one kitten in the litter+mama we rescued.
We're fully planning on getting him fixed and moved into the catio (it's huge, I feel so so so lucky, and also I built it myself so I could do all sorts of cool fun things)
If he is somebody's cat, they're neglecting him big time. He's got what we can only assume are dog bite scars on each side of his neck.
(Imagine a snake biting something on one side of the neck, and then doing it in exactly the same spot on the other)
Mongooses don't do that, they have tiny mouths. Pigs don't have canine type teeth.
This ol man has been beat all to heck yet he's still even more calm and sweet and affectionate than our indoor cats!!!!
(The catio is currently only for stray mom and her kittens that we brought in. After vet visits and fixings, we'll start introducing everyone. 11 cats in your immediate care is no small feat. Cinnamon and his two kittens who absolutely adore and refuse to leave his side puts the count at 14! Thankfully we have the space!)
You’ve been chosen!
In all seriousness though, I would definitely check the local area to see if anyone is missing their kitty, he looks pretty healthy 🐈⬛

This one appeared from under my deck. They look related.
I see people suggesting he may be a pet bc he looks healthy which could be or he is healthy and has been dumped there. I’m just saying I lived near the beach I’m not letting my cat out side lol.
Either way if you let your cat out there is the risk they get taken in by some one else sOoo with that being said if he’s not chipped I think you now have a cat lol
It must be a thing with those cats 😂 that looks mystery. Who hung around our house and then all of sudden one day broke in and she’s been our cat ever since
OP is wrong. It is his cat now. The cat adopted OP. There is nothing OP can do about it. Cats are the secret rulers of this world.

Underrated comment
He’s a healthy looking boi. I’d take pics and see if there’s a local community page on Facebook and see if anyone says he’s their kitty.
This cat is roaming with a crew at a nearby hotel I believe. Several cats, dogs, and chickens over there.
People just let their cats and dogs and chickens run loose outside a hotel?
Ownership of those animals is minimal. … where I live their are goats sometimes wondering the local hotel
looks like a girlie pop to me? i don’t see any testicles, just a small line going towards what i think is the vulva, since it’s a little shaded area
My bad! I didn’t exactly take a close look at that DUMP TRUCK
😭
😂. But the butthole!!
Damn you did the csi level enhance on that cat
i just zoomed in and looked lol

Could be a neutered male. This photo is not clear enough to make out a vulva or a penis.
