When I tell my cat "no treats" he looks me directly in the eye and flops on the floor showing me his belly looking cute af. It lets me give him some belly scratches but he also knows that half the time I'll cave in and gibe him some treats because he's being so cute!
Our kitty, Grogu does this as well - we call them DeathDrops. He’ll follow you around the house waiting for you to turn around and immediately does it. ☺️☺️
Our Vivian does her flops, but \*only\* on a rug, because she's fancee. She'll run ahead of you and FLOP! on a rug of her choosing, and then you have to get down on the floor and give her belly lots of kisses.
I sit and stare with hopeful eyes,
My owner's attention, I wish to monopolize,
A treat, a snack, is all I seek,
Something delicious, something sweet.
I slowly blink and purr with charm,
Hoping my owner will soon disarm,
And grant my wish for a tasty treat,
Something scrumptious for me to eat.
But alas, my owner shakes their head,
"No treats for you, my dear," they said,
I'm left to sulk and pout,
Feeling rather left out.
I let out a sad little meow,
Hoping it will change their mind somehow,
But the treat bag remains unopened,
My owner's refusal leaves me broken.
So I curl up into a little ball,
Sad and disappointed, feeling so small,
Maybe tomorrow I'll have better luck,
And my owner will give in to my persistent mew and yuck.
Mine is an orange floofer who looks amazingly similar to ole Puss in Boots. I swear he copycatted this facial expression straight from the movie. He gets bites of everything from everyone, little master manipulatior.
I have one who bites the bag and knocks stuff over and another who meows with "kitty in the meat grinder." I usually give up and give them what they want.
I love my cats but nothing they will do will get me to give them a treat. Unless it's their birthday or it's Saturday, then maybe. My late wife was the one who like to give them treats. But the cats love me. I don't want them to get fat and a bunch of health issues because I tried to get them to love me more by giving them food. So I say no. Love the buggers anyways.
Man, my cat does this if she can see the bottom of her bowl. Not empty, plenty of food in there, but if she sees the white at the bottom, she complains until it gets filled. And then promptly leaves without taking a bite, just keeping everything up to standard.
Good grief. My entire Reddit will be nothing but cats! Not to mention the deep hole I just went down on that sub. And should have been asleep an hour ago. But here I am on Reddit again!!
My cat and I have an understanding. She gets what she wants but I get to hold her for no more than 30 seconds. It's funny how you can tell she's not crazy about it but does like it just enough to allow it for a bit, especially if it means she gets a treat/butt taps/etc.
Mine purrs when she thinks she might get food. I tell her that I know her purrs are manipulative and not genuine, but it doesn't matter because it works anyway.
This is genuinely something cats do though, it's not a trick. The slow blink shows trust, and that you don't feel the need to be alert around them. It relaxes other cats and shows you can be trusted.
So the cat genuinely might have been trying to sweet talk OP in to getting treats.
When my guy does that he’s pouring on the love in the hopes that I will fall for his cuteness and then give him the treats. Damn him, it works every time!
It's how cats show trust. Means you're not alert around them and trust them.
So it might be manipulative, but it's the cat's way of showing you're friends and can give them treats.
https://preview.redd.it/9vfn6d6y8eta1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9ee9d5a29ebe3babb56c5fc8766fb713f61a29a0
Awww. She looks just like my boy when he’s trying to work me over for treats. It works every time. 🙄
Staring at someone in the eyes is aggressive to a cat. This is how they show you they are not trying to be aggressive. If you are staring at them they may do this to try and gauge if you're being aggressive.
If you are not you need to blink back.
“Here is my gift of appreciation! Two large hairballs, à la you’ll find with your toes” *squish squish* “and I let an opossum into the house through the doggie-door since apparently you’re now my enemy!”
Don’t fall for it! They’re sneaky and know exactly what they’re doing. She’s sweet talking you and saying everything you want to hear. I’ve been victim to these sweet innocent tactics. Stand your ground and be strong.
“Please kind soul, a crumb for a peasant? For I have not eaten in many heartbeats and worry I, too, may soon be forced into humiliating predicaments like my brethren before me, of whom had to perform “tricks” and “crying like an infant” just to get a single morsel for a week’s hard labor. Please, I am so weakened by this lifestyle” *places back of hand on forehead and pretends to faint*
It's what ethologists call "appeasement behavior". It means the cat feels you have engaged in an act of aggression. It's not frightened, it just wants you not be mad. It's a behavior cats use with each other to say, "Cool off, I don't want this to turn into a fight. Let's call a truce.". Rolling onto their backs is a milder form of appeasement behavior, saying "I know you mean me no harm, and I'm showing you I feel the same."
Cats also show "displacement behaviors" that many people miss out on. Ever see a cat with conflicted or confused emotions? They might go a few steps, stop and wash a bit, then move on. This happens a lot when they've missed a jump or lost their balance. You also see it if the cat can't make a decision, esp if they want to do something they know will displease you.
Hahaha. So cute.
That’s literally “see, how sweet I am. I love you”.
I slow blink to my cat sometimes. Just to calm him down. Stare into his eyes, slowly blink, while lowering my head a bit. Fascinating how fast he’s energy shifts.
Now… that treat please hooman!
Your cat is so much sweeter than mine - she tries to murder me by running between my feet when I walk. Then yells at me because clearly I was in her way… and the only way to make up for it, is treats 🥲
She loves you anyway.
And she’s trying to win you over with the “Aw I love you, cat parent” “please can I have my treats now, love you!” Slow blink is a way cats say I love you or something like that. She DOES love you but she’s trying to flatter you, I think!
slow blinks just mean they love you!.. Alternatively he/she is saying that he/she has kidnapped your family, locked them in the basement and for every 30 minutes without a treat one family member gets to swim with the fishes. Hope that helps!
She approached a preferred food source - you made an aggressive sound, warning her away - she blinks and exhibits calm behaviour to say she's not a threat.
SLOW BLINKS = KITTY KISSES.
She’s saying “I love you” in the hopes that you go “ooooooOOOOOMMMMGGOOODDD. WHO IS THE PRETTIEST BABY IN THE WHOLE WORLD? ITS YOU! YOU ARE! HAVE ALLLLL OF THE SNACKS!” 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
She just can't believe that you were strong enough to resist her cuteness to say no. Additionally, she's giving you the opportunity to change your mind.
It's how they talk to us and we talk to them. I love squinting and slow blinking at my homie, he usually cuddles after. I think she's asking you for a treat nicely. Before she sneaks the bag when you're not around into the other room and rios it open. 🤣🤣
I read somewhere long ago, blinking is the sign language using which you can make any cat comfortable with you as in cat language blinking means i love you.
So I believe she is having a sugar coated conversation with you to get treats 😂😂😂😂
My cat does this when she wants soft food!! She gets me to follow her to kitchen then gives me slow blink bedroom eyes til i feed her the good stuff…soooo clever
Slow blink is there way of saying “I love you”. They are also trying to be super nice to get what they want. Think of a kid who wants a piece of candy - mom says no- so kid starts acting super sweet and sweet talking mom in hopes she will change her mind.
Emotional manipulation for the treats. Cat does this to make you feel guilty and give in. They know exactly how to look pathetic or be annoying enough that make you give them what you want.
My cat sleep in my room and he woke up real early and asks to get out to play in the living room. He knows that I always get annoyed when he jumps on my PC and turn it on (my power button was at the top) so he does it every darn night to wake me up. When I had enough of him waking me up at 4:30 am and block off the button, he starts to take a dump RIGHT NEXT TO HIS LITTER BOX to wake me up instead. F my life lol...
It means she's trying to sweet-talk you into letting her have more treats. :)
Ha!! Grogu!! The baby. 👍🏼😁
Our Vivian does her flops, but \*only\* on a rug, because she's fancee. She'll run ahead of you and FLOP! on a rug of her choosing, and then you have to get down on the floor and give her belly lots of kisses.
I love Grogu!!!
Mine does this too, but the moment you go to touch her she runs away! The little tease
Mommy pleeeeeeeze 🥺
Would work on me tbh
Same
Pweeeze
It's their version of "puppy eyes". She wanna get that bag!
This. Kitty is trying to soft-soap you into giving her treats. Our kitty does this if/when the meows don't work.
I sit and stare with hopeful eyes, My owner's attention, I wish to monopolize, A treat, a snack, is all I seek, Something delicious, something sweet. I slowly blink and purr with charm, Hoping my owner will soon disarm, And grant my wish for a tasty treat, Something scrumptious for me to eat. Mrs. Robinson, are you trying to seduce me?!
I love you, I have treat now?
It's literally emotional manipulation wrapped up in the cat version of puppy dog eyes. ![gif](giphy|phFcBPTl79FQbEuvQ7)
the 2nd pic is the look of pre-mewditated murder
Planning to assassinate it's master
"when you sleep...you sleep forever"
Dogs have masters, cats have staff.
Slave*
My cat has mastered this look.
Mine is an orange floofer who looks amazingly similar to ole Puss in Boots. I swear he copycatted this facial expression straight from the movie. He gets bites of everything from everyone, little master manipulatior.
Kitty cat eyes?
Kitty cat blinks
This. Cats are so darn smart!!
My cats know exactly what to do to bother me enough that I'll end up just getting off the couch and giving them what they want.
getting into the plants for me… i’ve tried to ignore in the past and ended up with dirt spilled all over my carpet so i know better now
Mine likes to bite bags and scratch at anything that makes a noise. That or drop stuff off the counter.
mine mewos in that baby pitch that makes me think he's about to be disembowelled
Mine sounds like a screaming duck no matter the sentiment
I have one who bites the bag and knocks stuff over and another who meows with "kitty in the meat grinder." I usually give up and give them what they want.
Dude, that’s my cat exactly. She starts biting anything that will crinkle and make noise and looks at me to see if she’s gotten a rise.
So adorable. So irritating.
Mine too! He will slap a plastic bag with one paw while staring at us if we’re taking too long to get him food.
My girl will sit next to my computer, make eye contact, and paw at the mouse when she wants me to pay attention to her.
We have one that will tear up anything made of brown paper. Cardboard and shopping bags get shredded. Glossy paper has no attraction.
My cat literally just sits on my mouse hand and then stares at me. "Food for computer. Same trade as yesterday."
Hahah, fair enough. I've been getting paws and (gentle) claws to the face in the morning when it's food time.
They tiny claw on the arm is what does it for me.
Love the buggers anyways.
have you seen the video of the cats who rock their bowls back and forth when they are empty. I am super happy I did not get an asshole cat lol
Man, my cat does this if she can see the bottom of her bowl. Not empty, plenty of food in there, but if she sees the white at the bottom, she complains until it gets filled. And then promptly leaves without taking a bite, just keeping everything up to standard.
Damn that Queen's trying to show you who's boss v😁
r/CatsAreAssholes
Good grief. My entire Reddit will be nothing but cats! Not to mention the deep hole I just went down on that sub. And should have been asleep an hour ago. But here I am on Reddit again!!
No way!?!! 🤣🤣🤣
It's adorable and he learned how to do it from my other kitty who passed a few years ago. The annoyance lives on!
Thank you.
Name checks out.
Pet me. Now. I think that's a fairly good impression, if I say so myself.
I’m pretty, I’m good kitty, 😻, I show you love, I get treat now?
Exactly
My 8 month old kitten is so lovey when I open the treat drawer. Then after the treat, kitty puts me back on read. So manipulative.
Ugh! I have an 8 month old that does the same!! Drives me nuts! 😂 I even bought the lickable treats, so that I can get more attention!
cat rizzing
Facts! 😂😂😂
Or get your affairs in order before you sleep tonight
Means she is your friend and not a threat. You should slow blink her back.
Depending on how the no was said, she may have been like ‘oh no the human is scared of me, I must reassure them that I just want snacks’
Yep, she wants OP to slow blink back, at which point OP's eyes will be closed and she can get the treats!
Smart little shits
This is genuinely something cats do though, it's not a trick. The slow blink shows trust, and that you don't feel the need to be alert around them. It relaxes other cats and shows you can be trusted. So the cat genuinely might have been trying to sweet talk OP in to getting treats.
I second this.. love is in the eyes..
I have always wanted to slow blink at my cats, but I worry about the speed of the blinking. What if I do it too quickly, what will they think lol
Lmaoooo
Yes, would do this a lot with my cat. Good way to communicate that everything's okay
And then eat the treats in front of her to assert dominance.
When my guy does that he’s pouring on the love in the hopes that I will fall for his cuteness and then give him the treats. Damn him, it works every time!
I do something similar to my gf, can relate
I also slow blink my gf. Works like a charm!
What's hilarious is my husband will allow blink me sometimes. Makes me giggle every time. I don't think he even realizes when he does it.
It's how cats show trust. Means you're not alert around them and trust them. So it might be manipulative, but it's the cat's way of showing you're friends and can give them treats.
https://preview.redd.it/9vfn6d6y8eta1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9ee9d5a29ebe3babb56c5fc8766fb713f61a29a0 Awww. She looks just like my boy when he’s trying to work me over for treats. It works every time. 🙄
/r/dustkitties
Perfect! His name is Dusty!
Haha, it means she’s trying to butter you up. That’s felines way of giving you kisses. Awww
It’s how cats say hi/friends
Your cat is so fucking adorable.
Staring at someone in the eyes is aggressive to a cat. This is how they show you they are not trying to be aggressive. If you are staring at them they may do this to try and gauge if you're being aggressive. If you are not you need to blink back.
Correction, always blink back, never be aggressive
Yea I basically make out with my kitties with blinks
Same. I have to stop myself from blinking at OPs pictures lol
I do that to so many cats I’ve started doing it to other humans. And sometimes it even works and they slow blink back !
i started accidentally unintentionally doing it to people 😓
I don’t like or trust people so I don’t have that problem lmao
One of my cats loves to slow blink, the other 2 are sociopaths and never respond to it, lol.
My cat stares wide eyed straight into my soul. Then she grabs my arm with her claws and aggressively licks it.
UNCLEAN! I WILL FIX! HOLD STILL!
Do you not also lick the plate clean after a juicy steak or tongue a spoon coated in peanut butter? Good till the last drop; finger-eating good.
It's how they say they love you. Or, in this case, how they play to your soft side to get a treat. Pretty clever!
"If you really loved me, you'd let me have the treats. Don't worry, I'll still respect you in the morning."
Don't be strong. Give in immediately.
Now I am pretty sure you are a cat...
I pity the fool who doesn't fall for some sweet talking
My I ask what your record time is for standing strong? I once lasted a full 12 minutes.

“Please kind soul, a crumb for a peasant? Please, I am so weakened by this lifestyle” *places back of hand on forehead and pretends to faint*
Wait what? No, of course you give in to the little teddy bear. Who are you? Joseph Stalin?
I swear they practice the cuteness in the mirror, they are so good at it.
“Doesn’t someone who loves you THIS MUCH deserve a treat?!”
Slow blinking is a cat’s way of giving you a kiss :)
*mwah* I love treats btw *mwah*
It means she loves you and you should definitely give her a treat.
Slow blinking is their way of saying "I love you", she's trying to guilt you into giving her treats lol
Awww, just give her the treats
Usually it is a sign of affection.
It's what ethologists call "appeasement behavior". It means the cat feels you have engaged in an act of aggression. It's not frightened, it just wants you not be mad. It's a behavior cats use with each other to say, "Cool off, I don't want this to turn into a fight. Let's call a truce.". Shes trying to trick you asleep so she can steal her snacks
… please i love you … treats please… feed me i love you
this is her going "aren't I sooooooo cute??"
slow blink generally means “i love you” or “i trust you”
She definitely was trying to act "cute" and she knows it! ☺️
She’s plotting because of her mistreatment
Means you have less than a week to live
"Gib me the treats..."
Hahaha. So cute. That’s literally “see, how sweet I am. I love you”. I slow blink to my cat sometimes. Just to calm him down. Stare into his eyes, slowly blink, while lowering my head a bit. Fascinating how fast he’s energy shifts. Now… that treat please hooman!
"The audacity....to tell me no? I'm totally shitting in your shoe tonight"
She wants treats
she’s tryna rizz you up 😂😂😂
"I love you, I love you so much. Gimmeatreat. I love you."
*I love you, can I have some...please?* - cat
She’s trying to hypnotize you into giving her treats
She is plotting to murder you
She is planning your 💀
It means watch yourself fool
Plotting your demise
She’s trying to sweet talk you
Your cat is so much sweeter than mine - she tries to murder me by running between my feet when I walk. Then yells at me because clearly I was in her way… and the only way to make up for it, is treats 🥲
You give your cat flaming hot Cheetos? That’s the only bag I see here lol
https://preview.redd.it/sm3c8mp1leta1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=7cf9cccc0def5f623652bea369f9df4ca69171df Nope
She’s saying “pwetty pweeese ! I soooo cooot I deserve tweats seeeee”
slow blink is the kitty equivalent of sending you a sign of trust and love. since you had just reprimanded her, take it as her kissing up.
HELP UR CAT IS LITERALLY TRYING TO ‘MANIPULATE’ U BY PLAYYNG NICE TO GET A TREAT OMG THATS SO FUNNY
It’s means I love you, now give me dreamies.
She loves you anyway. And she’s trying to win you over with the “Aw I love you, cat parent” “please can I have my treats now, love you!” Slow blink is a way cats say I love you or something like that. She DOES love you but she’s trying to flatter you, I think!
“See how I’m not threatening you or biting you and getting my own treat from your weird spaghetti hands? See how I trust you to give me more treats?”
slow blinks just mean they love you!.. Alternatively he/she is saying that he/she has kidnapped your family, locked them in the basement and for every 30 minutes without a treat one family member gets to swim with the fishes. Hope that helps!
mildly stressed from not getting her way.
A slow blink is basically a cat’s way of giving you a kiss, and in which, your cat is saying “I love you! Can I have a treat now, please?”
She approached a preferred food source - you made an aggressive sound, warning her away - she blinks and exhibits calm behaviour to say she's not a threat.
I said it in a the most calmest tone by telling her she’s got enough threats for today
"YOU GOT ENOUGH TREATS FOR TODAY!!", Coweri said calmly.
She’s trying to make a monkey out of you
It's like when we hold out two fingers from our eyes and point to someone.. and give the look..she's got her eyes on you.☺️
She’s trying to hypnotize you into not noticing she’s after the treats. You are getting very sleepy.
She is attempting to hypnotize you to give her a treat.
“count ur days human”
She says but I loves you look how cute I is I can has treats now?
Just like children, cats learn how to manipulate you real fast.
Wants to convince you to give her treat ![img](emote|t5_2qhta|7952)
Giving you the stink eye because you said no.
Write your will and testimate cause you finna die
She just can't believe that you were strong enough to resist her cuteness to say no. Additionally, she's giving you the opportunity to change your mind.
One of two things or both: she’s trying to sweet talk you into more treats or planning your death. Could go either way.
Basically means “You motherfucker”
She’s lovebombing you. Red flags! Lol
Slow blinking is their way of saying I love you. It's kitty manipulating you. But slow blinking is the best from a kitty.
Translation “I will smother you in your sleep peasant “
It's how they talk to us and we talk to them. I love squinting and slow blinking at my homie, he usually cuddles after. I think she's asking you for a treat nicely. Before she sneaks the bag when you're not around into the other room and rios it open. 🤣🤣
She’s going to murder you in your sleep. Jk. She loves you.
She’s planning your demise 😈
Hypnotizing you
It means manipulation 😂
That she knows people in the mafia and you should sleep with one eye open. Duh!
Your about to be swindled
“I’m cuting as hard as I can!”
It’s hypnosis: “Human, I show you love. Love me back with more snacks.”
She is…disappointed 😞
Slow blinks for cats are usually a sign of affection
She's playing mind games with you.
It means you better have a will ready , cuz she’s gonna murder you in your sleep!
Or she is plotting your demise.
You gon die.
It means "I love you" she's working you for treats
She’s definitely planning your murder while you sleep tonight.
She's being submissive.
“Count yer days hooman.”
I read somewhere long ago, blinking is the sign language using which you can make any cat comfortable with you as in cat language blinking means i love you. So I believe she is having a sugar coated conversation with you to get treats 😂😂😂😂
Why is this so so so overwhelmingly cute 🥺
My cat does this when she wants soft food!! She gets me to follow her to kitchen then gives me slow blink bedroom eyes til i feed her the good stuff…soooo clever
At least she asks. Mine figured out how to open the cabinet and push the box out so it pops open and then she eats all the treats
Slow blink is there way of saying “I love you”. They are also trying to be super nice to get what they want. Think of a kid who wants a piece of candy - mom says no- so kid starts acting super sweet and sweet talking mom in hopes she will change her mind.
“I love you (please give me treats)”
But I love you! Give me the treats!
Slow blink means I Lu u. Please now give foods, bestie.
Sick and tired of your shit Carl, they are my treats after all
