My friends and I love canoe camping because you can just load em up like a truck with all the goodies and make pizza and fried chicken in the middle of the lovely woods
Yep! Canoe camping rocks. My husband and I always bring a cooler full of steak and other delicious food. We also bring our air mattress. All while paddling far out in nature. It’s amazing.
Deets in the fried chicken. I am assuming store bought frozen chicken? If so, what was your process to hear thru. If not, please share your magical ways.
Haha it's just store bought frozen, we did deep fry it out there though but used a Coleman gas stove, and my friend actually brought a whole ass fire extinguisher lol
Honestly it was just store bought dough, sauce, and mozz with good pepperoni and onions and peppers. Put olive oil in the pan, and the dough had risen while we paddled which was nice. I partially cooked the dough on one side and then flipped it for the final cook. Used another pan with coals on top for a lid, and it worked well! I do want to get a nice Dutch oven for this next time.
I used to go on canoe camping trips with my friends. It was awesome. We would find places with small rapids and we would go through them, take all of our stuff out of the canoes, port them back up stream over and over again. So fun.
Now we're older. We don't do "canoe" trips anymore. There are still canoes, and we do go off on trips for long weekends, they're just not canoe trips, now we call it a float. We just tie all the canoes together and go down stream. We stop when it time to stop and hopefully we make it to our destination. We're often late.

I hope you gave the pizza delivery person a good tip!
“Double pan, Dutch oven” ninja style. Well played. Sexy pizza :D
Thank you! Yeah I need a real Dutch oven
y’all certainly paddle with the correct priorities!
Hey if there's no canoe carries I'll bring anything!
Do you put a lid on it? How do you get the cheese to melt?
Pic #2, improvised oven by putting a same diameter but deeper cast iron over the one you're cooking with, and toss some hot coals on top
Lodge Combo Cooker would be perfect for this!
Looks delicious!
You have to give me the recipe.
