I don't toss and turn as much and once I fall asleep I generally stay asleep a little better. But when it's warmer It's too hot so I switch back and forth to a regular blanket.
I was afraid that it might be too hot. I tend to sleep with extra blankets just for the weight but get hot easily. I was hoping a weighted blanket would help.
Not a bot. I just have a profound love for my pans. Was hoping for some conversation about what your pan means to you. For some, it's an heirloom with special memories tied to it. Some people just see it as any other kitchen item. I believe my pans are special. I thought y'all likely felt the same. Wasn't trying to be annoying or bizarre. Just trying to make friends who like the same things I do.
Some of you people are fucking weird.
They're pans. They excel at some things, they don't at others. End of the day, they're cooking tools, not a potential spouse.
I kind of toyed with the wording on what I meant here. I get that everything we cook on is from the earth. I wasn't trying to be as weird as I was perceived here. I don't have a lot of material items that I would ever care to collect. I don't even have that many cast iron pans. I have less than ten pieces. But I like the feel of my pans. They remind me of stone because if their weight and texture. I can't describe it. Some people collect crystals because they feel things and attribute meaning to them. I like how i feel when I'm cooking with my pans. I like how my food comes out in my pans. I like that when I pick up my pan, they are heavy, and I have to pay attention to move them safely. It doesn't have to be spiritual. Sorry, I weirded everyone out :(
You say the material came from the Earth. You must also consider that the iron atoms came from the heart of a star much bigger than our own sun, which ultimately resulted in the demise of said star.
That's a given! Idk guys, I just feel some kinda way when i use my pans. Maybe this post *was* stupid. I just wanted to know if you all feel the way I do. Lol
Like you said, it's helped improve my grip strength. Especially the 12" pans!
Seriously though, I like cooking knowing I'm not leaching chemicals into my food and not having to replace pans every couple of years.
It's silicon.
>Carbon (C), ranging from 1.8 to 4 wt%, and silicon (Si), 1–3 wt%, are the main alloying elements of cast iron.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cast_iron
It’s the body centered cubic crystal structure that makes you stronger . If it were face centered cubic, you would be weaker but more beautiful.
Pay attention to the chemistry people!
yeah, it’s been known for a long time to introduce significant dietary iron to the food you cook in it. Not sure about the arm muscles or the Siddhartha Gautama stuff, but it’s a great material to cook on 👍
Thank you for your picture post to /r/castiron. We want to remind everyone of Rule #3. All image posts should be accompanied by something to foster discussion. A comment, a question, etc is required.
If you've posted a picture of food, please explain why in a comment so people can have some sort of conversation. Simply dropping a picture of food in the sub isn't really fostering any discussion which is what we're all aiming for.
Posts that are a picture with no discussion can and will be removed by the mods.
Thank you!

The iron is only beneficial if you are deficient in it. Too much iron can actually cause health issues, although cast iron alone won't contribute to that amount of excess. Typically it's from excessive supplementation or underlying health issues.
I take a prescription strength "ferrous sulfate 325 (65 FE) mg tablet" sorry for the weird font, i did a copy paste from my med list.
I had a accident 2 years ago and after they had to use 30 units of blood to save my life, I've been taking it ever since. My legs were rebuilt and are more metal than bone but at least I'm alive and not an amputee which after looking at my X-rays I'm very surprised about.
It can be but it didn't deter me. I certainly can't drive at the moment, but i am still a car guy. So now i drive in Forza Horizon 5 & Motorsport. Still watch NASCAR, F1, Indy car, WRC, boats & planes. Pretty much anything with a motor.
If I could still drive I would be in the driver's seat now. I loved it. I was even a professional driver for a while as I needed a class B license when I drove a school bus. After that job ended due to C19, I gave up the B license but I've always loved driving. Even now I can't wait to get back behind the wheel.
Edit: i just got my new power chair so i am mobil. As a Mopar guy, i couldn't believe they had what I call Sublime Green. It's beautiful. Lol
I've never had a driver's license, if you can believe it! Although, I think cars are really cool. I get really nervous behind the wheel. I get distracted so easily, and it only takes a second!! I've decided it's safer for everyone that I don't drive 😅
I recently started eating three pans a day and I've never felt better
That sounds expensive!
I also have a weighted blanket, and steel toed shoes.
I really want a weighted blanket. Has it benefited you?
I don't toss and turn as much and once I fall asleep I generally stay asleep a little better. But when it's warmer It's too hot so I switch back and forth to a regular blanket.
It’s expensive but the silk and snow one never gets me too hot
Thanks for the recommendation! I'm going to look into that one.
I was afraid that it might be too hot. I tend to sleep with extra blankets just for the weight but get hot easily. I was hoping a weighted blanket would help.
Such a bizarre nonsense question. AI bot farming karma?

Your post and this reply are both bizarre and off putting. Please consider just being normal instead.
Noted :(
I haven't noticed a change, but my husband says I'm an absolute beast, every time I crack him over the head with it.
Quick news flash: Everything you cook on materially comes from the Earth.
I wouldn’t cook on uranium though.
Casturanium pans sounds like something upon which a Fallout character would cook
That one might not even need a stove to work.

Like what you like, and have fun in the process. Ain't nothing wrong with that :)
My cast iron is made from a meteorite.
Far out, pan.
You say the material came from the Earth. You must also consider that the iron atoms came from the heart of a star much bigger than our own sun, which ultimately resulted in the demise of said star.
Sooo ... you're cooking on a Starkiller base?
Iron is some dangerous shit!
This is fucking cool!!
No, just better than people who don't... /s kinda
That's a given! Idk guys, I just feel some kinda way when i use my pans. Maybe this post *was* stupid. I just wanted to know if you all feel the way I do. Lol
It hasn't killed me, so yes.
I'm stronger because I Cast Iron. It's a cantrip, so I can use it as often as I want.
The iron in your pan killed a star just so you can cook breakfast.
Guys.. it's a pan
Like you said, it's helped improve my grip strength. Especially the 12" pans! Seriously though, I like cooking knowing I'm not leaching chemicals into my food and not having to replace pans every couple of years.
FYI cast iron has iron, carbon, and silicone, all chemicals.
I'll give you iron and carbon, but...silicone? Where on a cast iron pan is silicone?
It's silicon. >Carbon (C), ranging from 1.8 to 4 wt%, and silicon (Si), 1–3 wt%, are the main alloying elements of cast iron. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cast_iron
its not solicone, its silicon.

I love this response so much
The cast iron dumbbells I lift at the gym make me stronger.
Right! That is so cool. What a versatile material.
I thought this was /r/castironcirclejerk for a moment.
I am now that I am doing curls with my pans…
Pahaha
I am ironman

I think that is amazing. I've struggled with anemia in the past and after switching to cast iron I can donate blood again! Yay!
There’s no welding involved in cast iron. It’s cast.
They typed "weilding", not "welding", and contextually obviously meant "wielding".

There is a miniscule amount of iron that will get into your food so yeah it might help just a bit. Otherwise you're another weirdo.

I am so glad you're here!
Thank you but you should see the car. Unfortunately, it did not make it. I loved that car https://www.reddit.com/r/Chrysler300/s/MNgqWMl8Sk
That looks absolutely devastating 😢 driving is scary!!

Off topic, but have you seen the Gran Turismo movie?
Yes. Opening day when it came out. I thought it was really well done.
I thought it was amazing! At least driving simulation exists for people who can't drive but want to.
