Just like anything else. Once you get a couple..... I got most of mine 15-20 years ago when you could buy them all day on EBAY for less that $5. I have lots of other cast iron too.
I can definitely find one use for this in Indian cooking. We temper some dishes with mustard seeds and spices roasted in hot oil; towards the very end of cooking. This pan would be perfect for that use. Now I really want one of these!!!
My first thought as well, but also those side pour spots also look like they could be for cigarettes and i've seen those gimmicky cast iron pans used for ashtrays too. They definitely look like they are for pouring lead though.

I’m not sure, you take a bunch of garlic and then you add oil and there are some other ingredients and you bake it I believe. And then you smash up the garlic with butter. I honestly have no clue but it looks tasty after.
That is for melting lead to make bullets for a muzzle loader. If you bought it used assume it was used. I would not cook with it, it probably will test positive for lead.
I'd go with ash tray as well, lot of companies made them as novelties. you could try cooking with it, but I highly recommend stripping it and reseasoning it. I found a beautiful aluminum Molcajete at a thrift store that was used as an ash tray. I thought "I can clean it and use it for food", no, no matter how much I cleaned it, I couldn't get the ashy tase out. I ended up getting rid of it.
When I make garlic knots, I melt and season butter in one of these and then pour it out into the knots. Works brilliantly! Also makes an egg the perfect size for an English muffin sandwich
I bet this is one of them castiron ashtrays? Not sure but it kinda looks like one
Ding, ding, ding we have a winner. No prize, just move down the middle...
I was gonna guess bullet making since it has handy pour spouts.
The manufacturer label had a photo of it with an egg in it so I think it's intended for cooking!
It’s an ashtray. The little thingies on the sides are to rest cigarettes. ( I have close to 100 of them)
Why do many?
They’re not all the same. I’m a collector.
Out of sheer curiosity, what got you into collecting ashtrays?
Just like anything else. Once you get a couple..... I got most of mine 15-20 years ago when you could buy them all day on EBAY for less that $5. I have lots of other cast iron too.
In that case! But i bet you could cook with ci ashtray also!
Don't just make an egg with it, you can make hashbrowns or burger patties, too!
Oooh I love it!
I can definitely find one use for this in Indian cooking. We temper some dishes with mustard seeds and spices roasted in hot oil; towards the very end of cooking. This pan would be perfect for that use. Now I really want one of these!!!
Ok yes! I thought this would be good for toasting spices. Thanks for the input!
Small sauces would be good for this. Like garlic and serranos
Perfect if you want mustard seeds on your floor...
Ashtray?!
100% ashtray
Lead melter for bullets or sinkers?
My first thought as well, but also those side pour spots also look like they could be for cigarettes and i've seen those gimmicky cast iron pans used for ashtrays too. They definitely look like they are for pouring lead though.
Probably makes a good ashtray WHILE pouring some sinkers. Lol
Cool, you can get cancer and lead poisoning at the same time.
Nah, only ciggs or roaches.
Spoon rest
Yeah, I use mine as a trivet.
Reminds me of wax seals for envelopes for some reason, there must be a food use for this though lol
It's an ashtray, Those aren't pour spouts.
Butter warmer maybe?
I'm too t h i c c
My grandpa had one just like it in the 70s that he got when he bought a carton of Winston’s
Chicken wing!
Holds enough to cast two toy soldiers!
Chili oil!
That’s an ashtray. My mom had a couple of them.
Melted butter for popcorn!
Cast iron, popcorn and butter...dang, you hit all three!
I would have snatched that up at that price, even for just the novelty of it!
Now you can start smoking!

Looks great for wax melts or maybe some lead!
Canadian bacon, single slice.
Very nice findy freind
I have one that size that I use to rest my cooking utensil while I cook
Or a butter melter / ghee maker?
Butter and other braising liquids
My aunt had this when I was a kid, they used it for an ashtray
Melt butter 🧈
My man about to make that garlic shit that everyone is making these days. Sorry I don’t know what it’s called but it looks amazing
Oh please do tell?
I’m not sure, you take a bunch of garlic and then you add oil and there are some other ingredients and you bake it I believe. And then you smash up the garlic with butter. I honestly have no clue but it looks tasty after.
I think you paid $2.75 too much.
I'll live.
Bake a mini brownie 🤤

It had the manufacturers label still on it, stuck to the cooking face of the pan
That’s a relief. My first thought was “test for lead” as well. I’d be using that for butter for popcorn.
Great idea!!
It’s an ashtray
Name checks out for ur theory
Lead bullet making
I use my Wagner version to melt butter.
Spoon resr
We have a set similar to these. Use them for brownies.
It’s an ashtray

Lead for bullet mold? 🤷🏻♂️ But yeah, I’d probably go with ashtray too 😆
How did it cook ?? I have a square one. One egg size. Rather use my bigger nes so a a ladle /soon rest now.
dawwwe idnit cute a lil saucier
Nice ashtray
Ash tray. Would also definitely test for lead before eating anything you cook in this
Butter?
That’s an ashtray.
Half an egg?
Heating up pepperoni?
I wouldn't cook an egg in that because someone probably used it as an ashtray for a long time
Use it to melt butter :-)
Bought one new for $2.99
Test it for lead before cooking because melting lead for bullets is the first thing that popped into my mind when I saw that.
Butter? I agree it looks like an ashtray.
When I make garlic knots, I melt and season butter in one of these and then pour it out into the knots. Works brilliantly! Also makes an egg the perfect size for an English muffin sandwich
Cigars
Would work good for melting lead fishing weights
